Not only 100 different individual characters but 99% of the cast has spots! And those are known to be notoriously difficult to deal with in hand drawn animation. Pretty sure that’s part of the reason why the kids cartoon miraculous ladybug went for the CGI visual instead of hand drawn like it was originally advertised as to look like an anime because the spots were way too difficult to deal with

Change the names of the characters and the breed of the dogs and it's still a good film (Rogers character was completely unnecessary, he does nothing for the plot, he's just there because he was in the original)
In defence of the original film: Once you get past the initial courtship phase and the birth scene, you end up with a story about a couple with several children that get kidnapped by this crazy lady that offered to buy them right after birth. Local authorities are no help because dogs aren't priority, so they rely on the equivalent of a CB radio chain to get word out. In town the Twilight Bark sequence is just a mass of barking and it does go on a bit long. But once it gets out of town, the intensity goes up because fewer and fewer dogs respond. The chance of the message failing to pass on rises. One of the last ones we see gets the message from a boat that was lucky enough to be passing and he then passed it to a half-deaf guy because the old man was the only one in range. The old guy (or mostly his subordinate) find the missing kids - and dozens of others that have been bought. The subordinate sneaks 99 kids our of this compound under the eye of violent guards. Meanwhile, word has gotten back to the parents. They meet up and find they suddenly have a surplus of kids. They don't need to take most of them. The couple could easily take their own kids and go. Instead, they agree to lead 84 strangers to safety and eventually take them in as family. Cue the trip back. Two adults somehow keep 99 kids together in blizzard conditions while the kidnappers try to track down and kill them. They are exhausted. They are terrified. Two or three times someone else shows up to help. Not a personal friend or someone the parents prearranged. Another complete stranger who heard about the effort through the gossip chain and offered food, shelter or transportation. By making the animals silent and focusing on slapstick, the 90's version lost pretty much all of that nuance. I understand that Cruella is the most charismatic character in the show. But I'm not big on every sequel and remake being progressively about her because there are other stories to be told. The original film could just as easily be reworked into a human trafficking fable.
@@questworldiangreenknight7455 nah that’s definitely just what they were going for, he was an “out queer” character (who never actually specified that they were in the movie, you just have to rely on the fact that he runs a fashion boutique and wears makeup to tell you he must be out) in a 70s england setting, so bowie would be an obvious frame of reference
The live action 101 Dalmations was all about looking at cute puppies. How dare you pay attention to the plot? And the audacity that we should do the same? No, thank you!
I honestly love the Disney sequels that have animals. Patch's London Adventure is one of my favourites of all time. I thought Seamus was going to really hate it at first.
Well, technically, there's 101 Dalmatian Street TV series that are set 60 years later, in the same universe with main characters being descendants from original 101
when I was a kid I watched 101 dalmatians when I was 7, I couldn't get the cruella song out of my head and I still can't. edit: when I was a kid I also watched the remake and hated it because it didn't have the song, I think and when 102 dalmatians came out I didn't watch it and only new the story from the trailers.
I remember watching the live action version and thinking, "wow. this is the same thing, but really. really. REALLY. bland." even the more recent live action remakes tried to introduce some kind of new bits, however small they were, but this one just had... nothing. even the new Lion King made a few neat little changes, like hinting that Scar got his scar from Mufasa, making the hyenas way more threatening like they should be, stuff like that. But the live-action 101D just has nothing of note, at least nothing that I can remember. Also Anita and Roger have absolutely zero chemistry in the live action version, whereas in the animated one they're probably one of the most adorable Disney couples from that era. Cruella was easily the strongest part of the live-action version, and Glenn Close absolutely killed it as Cruella, but the rest of the movie was just too bland to be saved even by her.
Yes, Emma Thompson stole the show in Cruella. She’s like Umbridge for me. A despicable character I want dead who’s played by an absolutely marvelous actress
There's actuall a live action remake of Peter Pan from 2003 I believe. It's not by Disney, and I actual kind of love it. I'm not sure whether or not that's a controversial thing to say
@@Roadent1241 I believe that it was Universal. Oh yeah, I think this one also had a Harry Potter actor in it. I think it was Lucius Malfoy as Captain Hook?
I'd watch the new versions if I could watch the originals, for those that had originals. Never got to see them as a kid, you'd think Disney'd shove them on so the adults could rewatch them.

I actually really enjoy the 101 Dalmatians franchise! I grew up watching Disney movies and I’ve always prefer talking animal-centric animated movies to live action movies! So, basically any movie with a good story and talking animals (especially dogs), I’d watch it, no matter how good or bad the reviews are lol! I grew up watching the original 101 Dalmatians and I really liked it! It’s my favorite older Disney movie and even Cruella is my favorite Disney villain (which is weird because I hate the idea of her killing those puppies oof). Because I grew up with the original, I also was OBSESSED with 101 Dalmatians II: Patch’s London Adventure! It’s my favorite Disney Direct-to-DVD sequel and I rewatch it constantly. Just like Patch, I’ve basically memorized that entire movie. _Plus the fact that you compared that movie to Bolt makes me so happy! Bolt is my favorite Disney movie, in general and I also relate to his character and have memorized that whole movie haha._ I’ve actually never seen the live action movies so I don’t know how they hold up compared to the original. Also, I absolutely love the 101 Dalmatian Street TV show (Y E S, there is a TV series based off the original movie:) and it’s really good! (I’ve only seen a few episodes of the original 101 Dalmatians: The Series TV show but I like it so far:) When I saw Cruella (the movie) was coming out, I was excited! I watched it on the day it came out and I really liked it. I liked how her story was showed and all the actors did an incredible job! Anyways, as you can tell, I’m a Disney Dalmatian fanatic just based off of nostalgia but everything from this franchise is somehow timeless! Great video!

Who else has been a fan since he would say "Hello there! How you doing?" In the beginning of his videos??
Day 1 of asking Seamus to react to Tangled the Series
AHH YESSS
I Hear That Show Is Really Good.
I tried to watch that show then I got bored so I skipped ahead a couple of seasons.
@@twistedwonderland1043 it’s three seasons long how did you skip a couple lollll
YES PLEASE
Arty was my absolute favorite in the new Cruella movie.
He cracked me up. Also is it weird that he made me think of David Bowie?
@@questworldiangreenknight7455 nah that’s definitely just what they were going for, he was an “out queer” character (who never actually specified that they were in the movie, you just have to rely on the fact that he runs a fashion boutique and wears makeup to tell you he must be out) in a 70s england setting, so bowie would be an obvious frame of reference
My goal in life is to have Seamus like one of my comments
aim higher!!
Hold on you're telling me there's an entire 101 Dalmatians universe?
No thank you.
Well, technically, there's 101 Dalmatian Street TV series that are set 60 years later, in the same universe with main characters being descendants from original 101
@@anne.andromeda well it’s the new ohocu
Seamus 1 hour ago: Sorting through the 101 Dalmatians multiverse(I think)
Seamus now: I watched every 101 Dalmatians movie and it was a lot
the video wasn’t doing well 😭 i’m allowed one title change
@@SeamusGorman4 I guess you can get a pass this time
I think I enjoyed the 101 Dalmatians 2 jingle a bit too much Seamus when’s it gonna be on streaming platforms??
that sounds like one adventure of two weeks... i was actually expecting either a review on tmvtm or on cruella so i win no matter what you post
Seamus You Should Do A video About The Toy Story Musical They Had On The Cruise Ships.
oh no
@@Red-jl1qr Yeah That Show Has Something.
Yeah that was fun, honestly. It has some good songs.
when I was a kid I watched 101 dalmatians when I was 7, I couldn't get the cruella song out of my head and I still can't.
edit: when I was a kid I also watched the remake and hated it because it didn't have the song, I think and when 102 dalmatians came out I didn't watch it and only new the story from the trailers.
I remember watching the live action version and thinking, "wow. this is the same thing, but really. really. REALLY. bland."
even the more recent live action remakes tried to introduce some kind of new bits, however small they were, but this one just had... nothing. even the new Lion King made a few neat little changes, like hinting that Scar got his scar from Mufasa, making the hyenas way more threatening like they should be, stuff like that.
What the 101 Dalmations did change the most is that they replaced the entire car chase climax in favor of some crappy slapstick sequence.
It’s not over saturated lmao it’s natural that we have more live actions now because we have stories that have been being re-released for ages.
*3 MINUTES AGO?!?* THIS IS THE EARLIEST I'VE BEEN TO ONE OF HIS VIDS EVER
0:54 yikes two Seamus’s the world is not ready...
I really like Patches Adventure also! I used to have patch as a stuffed toy too.🥰
Yes, Emma Thompson stole the show in Cruella. She’s like Umbridge for me. A despicable character I want dead who’s played by an absolutely marvelous actress
Yay!!! Seamus posted today!!!
There's actuall a live action remake of Peter Pan from 2003 I believe. It's not by Disney, and I actual kind of love it. I'm not sure whether or not that's a controversial thing to say
That wasn't Disney? I was under the impression it was.
@@Roadent1241 I believe that it was Universal. Oh yeah, I think this one also had a Harry Potter actor in it. I think it was Lucius Malfoy as Captain Hook?
You Tube Ah, fair enough.
I want to say Jeremy Irons but I don't believe it's the same guy, I know who you mean though. You're right.
Day 54 trying and convince Seamus to watch “kids shows” such as Gravity Falls, The Owl House, Amphibia, and DuckTales 2017.
Thank You For Putting "Kids Shows" In Quotes As It Always Should Be.
OMG YAS!!!!All of those shows are some of my fav shows ever, except owl house,it still didnt reach potential And hype And what about stat vs foe
@@skarloey1214 Ye, especially after True colours, yikes
I'd watch the new versions if I could watch the originals, for those that had originals. Never got to see them as a kid, you'd think Disney'd shove them on so the adults could rewatch them.
You are amazing, Seamus. I love your comedy, your style, your editing, how you transitioned from HP videos (which I loved and became your fan with) to other topics, you're one of my favorite UA-camrs for years constantly.
Oh I have vivid memories of watching 102 Dalmatians as a kid.
Seamus the only formulaic thing about your videos is that they always make me laugh! We love all of your videos!
I love your Disney videos Seamus
Unpopular opinion but Victoria Smurfit's Cruella from Once Upon a Time is one of my favorite Cruella portrayals.
13:50 "Making Cruella's storyline up until that point pretty much pointless." Seamus I think it was anything but *pointless*... 😀
I think it's something special when a story can make you root for a person who you definitely shouldn't. Like Light from death note.
Honorable mentions for your 101 Dalmatians extended universe:
1. Descendants
2. Once Upon a Time
I mean if we really want to include EVERY entry of the 101 Dalmatians characters
Fun fact: Growing up I had never seen the original live-action remake of 101 Dalmatians (I still haven't), but I did see the 102 Dalmatians multiple times. As a result I thought 102 Dalmatians was a live-action sequel to the original animated film

Me: well sorry brother of mine I shall be leaving mid Minecraft

This is hilarious! Almost definitely your funniest video yet.

Day 2 of asking Seamus to watch all the Pixar movies in one sitting
Bolt is my favorite Disney movie, in general and I also relate to his character and have memorized that whole movie haha._
I’ve actually never seen the live action movies so I don’t know how they hold up compared to the original. Also, I absolutely love the 101 Dalmatian Street TV show (Y E S, there is a TV series based off the original movie:) and it’s really good! (I’ve only seen a few episodes of the original 101 Dalmatians: The Series TV show but I like it so far:)
When I saw Cruella (the movie) was coming out, I was excited! I watched it on the day it came out and I really liked it. I liked how her story was showed and all the actors did an incredible job!
Anyways, as you can tell, I’m a Disney Dalmatian fanatic just based off of nostalgia but everything from this franchise is somehow timeless! Great video!
Unrelated, but: *DAY 3 OF ASKING SEAMUS TO REVIEW THE BARBIE DIARIES*
Yes.
Oh yes please! We need this!
I was so excited when I saw you were reviewing the 101 Dalmatians movies! I knew it was gonna be great!
Please watch EVERY episode of Sofia the first on Disney plus!

TBH there were actually a couple pretty good episodes in that show but mostly meh or bad ones
This is the best intro I've ever seen. Thank you Seamus, thank you... also, Im watching this in Dec 2021... youre not late, you're right on time
I’ve watched all of these including Both the shows
I always loved Patch's London Adventure growing up!
I wouldn’t mind if you talked about Mitchell’s vs the Machines
i always go into these videos thinking, no i'm SURE i haven't seen any of these niche disney sequels this time, and come out with 10 unlocked memories
Seamus, trust me. You are not the number one fan of Patch's London adventure, my six year old sister is. Once you've watched it every single day for a month and change, then you can call yourself the number one fan. *has vietnam flashbacks*
I usually try to comment something entertaining and funny but today I just wanted to say thank you for making such awesome content your videos always make me smile and relax even if I'm having a bad day so yep I just wanted to tell you that I really appreciate your work keep being great we love you♡
101 Dalmatians is my favourite Disney film 😭 I got so excited when this notification popped up but I haven't watched cruella yet 😭😭 I will return when I have watched it as I'm avoiding spoilers
My brother would 100% Agree with you on the Patch's London adventure part.
I think a good choice for these kinds of videos might be having chapters :)
if you want to watch the video, but would avoid spoilers to a specific one of these, you get to see where to click ^^
In the original movie, if you look very closely, right before pongo turns the television off after the thunderbolt scene, there is an advertiser advertising something. Right as the TV goes off you can see him come out of his persona and look upset, as if he can actually tell that they were watching tv, but not long enough to listen to his pitch.
And does anybody notice the pencil lines in certain scenes or is that just me?
