Truly awesome Alpine-esque video! Only once had summit of SP to myself and that was on a really wet and claggy September dawn. Sheer quality, classic route and beautifully captured. Ace work 👍👍👍
Really enjoyed this video mate! Never seen a fell running video before, but I’m always up there seeing you guys run past me! This is my favourite area of the lakes. Anyway, loved the video, you’re very likeable, which means you have a new subscriber. All the best, Simon.
@@lakelandtrailrunner love it John. Quick Q - was Lords Rake better in the snow and ice? Like you say, it’s always a bit like quick sand in the summer. Cheers mate, Simon.
@@Thebluedocful Hi mate. It was pretty good when I went up on the day I the made the vid. Still loose but it had a little more structure so to speak. I’ve not been up when there’s been heavy snow fall.
Hi From Ireland. We.ve just discovered your Channel..great stuff it is too..Good tagging along.. We run /crawl /Stagger around the Mourne mtns and the Wicklows ..Keep up the great vids 👍👍 Ian&Dee🏃♀️🏃
Great vid, John. Perfect conditions. Was driving to work most mornings (work in Keswick) wishing I was out in these conditions. Have you checked out West Wall Traverse (sharp left roughly half-way up first section of Lords Rake) you'd love it. Foxes Tarn descent is a shitter in normal conditions, but I prefer it when iced as spikes work so well! Bit of a slog back up to Mickledore, mind. Anyway, perfect day here. Hopefully say hello at Langdale on Saturday 👍
Ace. Can’t believe there was no one on the summit. Never happened to me in 22 years ! I did lords rake many years ago when the chock stone was there. Now a new subscriber. Thanks for sharing means a lot when you are 348 miles away due south. Those micro spikes have been on my list for a while.
Great vid, like the gate before and after shots! Lord's Rake to West wall traverse is a cracking way up Scafell, although perhaps not in those conditions! Kudos for the icy Foxes Tarn descent.
Excellent video John and a cracking route. Lord’s Rake is better when rocks are frozen together and better still when banked out with snow. There is a story of someone crawling in to the rescue box at Styhead to shelter and someone coming along and closing the bolt not knowing he was in there. He then later gave people sitting outside a hell of fright when he started banging and shouting for help. Your channel looks excellent and I’ll be watching in future to remind me of my fell days when I lived in Cumbria- now up in the highlands. Have a great Christmas and all the best for the new year.
Thanks Graham I appreciate that 🙂 I’d not heard that about the Styhead shelter, it’s a good story 😂 the Highlands are an awesome area I love going up there, not been in a few years last time was to hike the Cape Wrath Trail, great time. I’ve plans to do a personal FKT on the CWT in the next year or so. Be safe out there 🤘🏻
Just come across and subscribed to your channel. Totally envious,I do a little walking in lakes and started a running 3 mnth ago,but at nearly 60 with dodgy knees,I doubt if I will ever be able to emulate you?
Just looking back at my previous comment, this was when I found you! One thing I wanted to ask, have you come off lords rake and gone through the west wall traverse before?
No I’ve not done the west wall traverse. I’ve headed up Sca Fell via the south ridge and Slight Side and gone down that way and I’ve gone up via Hard Rigg but I’ve yet to check out the West Wall Traverse.

Wow, what a stunning day out on the hill. You have to grab those opportunities when they come and really savour them.

Cheers Colin. Yeah the Chock was what I remember when I did it years ago.. micro spikes I got on Amazon cost around £25 definitely worth it.

Thanks mate. Yeah Foxes Tarn descent is always a tricky one even in the best of conditions! 😂

Thanks for the sub. 🙂 You should definitely try out running with poles I’ve found them a total game changer in saving my joints.
