Beautiful woman. What she said about secrets foisted on children by parents was spot on: I'm a performer (musician), but it's only at the age of nearly 50 that I can bear to be visible in my very awkward way. Most of the time I just want to hide. Ps. I wrote a whole poetry collection about my hypervigilance. It's uncanny how much I have in common with Geraldine even though alcohol didn't play a part in my childhood... I think it's the secrets thing.... Thank you both for this profound interview.
I first met Geraldine James, in 1976, when she was in a play with Celia Imrie, at the Northcott Theatre, Exeter - my having been a reporter on the local newspaper - and I was bowled-over by her fascinating presence and mercurial essence, as not only an actor, but also a really-lovely, highly-intelligent and well-educated Lady ! A decade later - by which time I had returned to acting - I worked in one episode of *The Sins* - as directed by David Yates - where she was the leading-lady and Star ! I loved her sense-of-humour, when she ribbed me, since my role was forgettable, in contrast to her's. Today, I still think of her, with high regard, and the same profound respect that I've always had for her. From this interview, I see we have at least one thing in common; that being that my grandmother, Sarah Monaghan, came from Monaghan ! God Bless Dear Geraldine James ! Gerry George.
My mom is going through the same thing it is hard shes had so many people involved but its not as bad as it was but is still kind of heavy. Geraldine james i would love for you to respond.
Very interesting interview. Geraldine is a beautiful lady, wise and grounded by her experience from life. Regards from Ireland 🇮🇪 💚
