Thank you, Paul, for giving my 13-year-old self something to laugh at on TV. Many a kid did imitate the great Pee Wee Herman on the playground, laughing in THAT way and deflecting insults with "I know you are, but what am I?" May he jam on in those platform shoes into eternity! And, BTW, Large Marge sent me!
U thought of so many laughs that most comedians would have never thought so simple to get so many laughs world wide just awesome from a genuis comedian ❤😂

I only met him one time and he was very gracious… hardly recognized him but I also worked next-door at a restaurant to where the theater was. They ended up demolishing the theater and personally I think he was set up… RIP Paul,. Condolences to your family…💔
I thought the same thing too, about a set up, & also when he had the search warrant served regarding is eclectic art collection. Set up due to someone bitter, jealous or...perhaps wanting to make a name for themselves in both cases. How lucky you got to meet him!
I'm an old man. I was in the US Marines when Pee-wee's Playhouse was on TV. I made sure to watch it every Saturday morning. Such a funny show and a great comedian. I also remember a time when someone was talking about having a scoreboard and Miss Yvonne said she had one over her bed - well, her lips said that, but the words came out as something else. Did you see Miss Yvonne in his latest movie? OMG!
❤ Love that he wrote Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure with Phil Hartman and was so close with him. Makes so much sense - Both insanely: brilliant HILARIOUS, just plain wonderful human “beans” ❤
The media tried to. I say that because his fans I feel like didn't care. I had that kind of conversation with my brother in law last night after he saw my new Pee-wee tattoo. He said "when he passed, they tried to bring up that stupid thing that happened to him. But, I don't care. He was amazing, and that's what matters. It's a tough loss." Whatever Paul did after that, there were fans still excited.
He’s awesome. I watch Tim Burton’s Pee Wee’s Big Adventure religiously. Love that Paul Reuben is nothing like the character at all in real life. That shows what a genius actor he is.
When he talked about flying back from NY, dejected because he lost SNL to Gilbert Gottfried, and then in his panic came up with Pee-wee Herman -- the first thing I thought of was Walt Disney, dejected because he lost the rights to Oswald the Rabbit, and on the trip home came up with Mickey Mouse. Sometimes fear is a GREAT motivator for creativity .... Thanks for uploading this! Paul's the man.
I agree. I'm so glad that Paul came up with his Pee-Wee character. It is truly unique and one of a kind. If the story is true that he had nothing to lose and ended up coming out with something due to fear of not doing it... and he solidified his funny/famous character.... then it goes to say... just do what you REALLY want from the get go! I have business ideas I'm only now working on, that due to fear, and only when after years it hit hard enough...that I came up with my solidified companies. One is from when I was just a kid, bored, and walking around truly trying to put my value (add value to those around me pre cell phone and internet days) by helping them with what's truly something important, the outside of their homes. (property maintenance) Since school I always wanted to be a teacher and was never recognized enough or given a real opportunity to be what I could for the other students and in turn myself...so despite my crazy ability to have started any company in the world I ever wanted, I always circled back to wanting to help others. In that aspect, my company's goal became to help other people...with their company whatever that may be. In this way I found I could truly do the best I can for those around me... and came from the fear that I couldn't do it.
His Letterman appearances are legendary. However, Pee Wee's Big Adventure is timeless. One of the best comedies of all time. The great thing is that those Pee Wee movies had a lot of dry, obscure humor mixed in. One of my favorite scenes was in Big Top Pee Wee, where his GF gives him an egg salad sandwich and he's acting like it's so delicious as he takes a bite. Then she turns her head for a second and he zings it and it takes off like a rocket. I'm actually laughing writing this. "Mmm, egg salad!" LOL! I don't think I laughed that hard since I realized the singing bush in The Three Amigos keeps singing all thru the scene it was in. If you listen, you can hear it in the background..."Yo Ho, blow the man down!" Plus the voice was hilarious.
People expected Pee Wee 24/7, but forgot he was simply a person, Paul Reubens. Regardless I still love this guy! We all have downfalls, but that shouldn't have outweighed the joy and laughs he gave to millions.
#PaulReubens is a fantastic performer, always been a fan since I was in middle school in the 80s. A great positive person, so amazing, I wish him continued success for decades to come.
Best appeareance of Paul out of character ever, so genuine. Finally he can make jokes about what he went through, so well deserved that this man made it back in the saddle, he´s my hero.
Pee Wee’s Playhouse was the best. The characters were so unique and hysterical. This guy is one of the best. I wish him well and a long beautiful life.
I never watched Pee Wee and was not familiar with Paul's work - I only knew who he was. After his death this week, I have been watching interviews and tributes and now I am sad I never appreciated this amazing comic genius.
I use to love to watch Pee Wee's play house as a child. Who remembers the "foil ball?" When visitors would come, they would bring a piece of foil to add to the ball.
I was just a kid when that HBO special aired, and I was immediately obsessed. My little sister and I watched it over and over and had it memorized. How has he not aged??? I mean, I’m a year away from my AARP eligibility. 😳
Paul is an original natural comic genius. He was a major player in the scene coming from the Groundlings and so on. I know he's a sincere loving man who cared about people and children too. I would've missed a lotta laughs if Pee Wee Herman was never born..... He still makes me chuckle. .... Glad to see him doing so well here. ...
Exactly! They both ad libbed just about everything and walked a very fine line on national television. Pee Wee came really close to bombing on Letterman a bunch of times. Other stand up comics just did a few minutes of scripted well rehearsed routine, playing it safe.
My kids were crazy about Pee Wee and I think me and the wife were a little also because he really put a smile and a laugh on our faces on everything he did. A favorite skit is when he danced to Tequila at the Biker Bar and getting picked up by large Marge. The Play House show was a staple in our house we still enjoy him in our 70's.
Paul Reubens is a legend. He looks and sound like Gene Wilder. He can pass for Gene Wilder. If he had curlish hair. Lol. Paul paid his debt to society. Nobody is perfect. He's good at changing up his voice. Good for you Mr. Reubens.
Agreed. Furthermore, he didn't have a whole lot to pay for. Jerking off in a porno theater? Yea that's freaking weird and kinda creepy but it's not "sick" I mean it's a porn theater!!! And if defined as a "crime" then it's a pretty minor one. wtf is a porno theater though? like why? even back then there was vhs lol
Pee Wee was one of my favorites as a kid. I still love Paul I don't give a sh!$ who says what about him in the negative. Paul Reubens is still my buddy, just as much as he was then.
He is one of my favorite entertainers, and I don't say something like that lightly or casually. I love so much of his work-- from Pee-Wee (it was fantastic when he guest hosted on The Joan Rivers Show in '86) to his appearances on Murphy Brown, and Everybody Loves Raymond as Russell the comic book guy, plus all the cartoon voices he did, and as Gerhardt in a 30 Rock episode, and as Pinocchio in Faerie Tale Theatre. But most dear to my heart are the Pee-Wee films and specials. Pure fun in massive amounts. I go back to them now and again, and they retain their charm and comedy. They'll never age, just like Paul. He's one of the good ones.
What a blessing of an era we're living in. I would have loved to have been there to see/hear this interview. We all STILL get to experience a big percentage of it via technology. Thank you technology and comedy inventors.
Conan, Leno, Letterman, O Reilly, Olbermann, Maddow, Hannity, all of you. Take a page from this host book. He is letting Paul talk, and he doesn't interrupt him. This what you all should be doing.
Even though the shows should be about the VIEWER first, the GUEST second...and then the HOST doing their best to provide the viewers the best interview/entertainment... it definitely shows that there are/is not a great host now in these days or for a long time... they confuse the interview with things that insert themselves in the act of doing the interview, and they confuse the fact that the entertainment of the interview is supposed to come from what you can help create with your guest and topic matters for your viewers, not try to be the center of attention, or the main source of entertainment during the interview. Especially the fact that the interviews aren't real ones, it's ones the producers think that both current circumstance, the host, and the material can create out of the guest... totally takes away from the real life aspect of wanting to be entertained via interviews of guests that the viewers want to see which is why we give hosts platforms and our attention and hopes in the first place. Bring back real TV!
Pee-wee was a few years before my time unfortunately but even tho I'm 23 now I'm quickly catching up with the Pee-wee movies and Pee-wee's playhouse and I'm already in love with it all...so funny! People laugh but I can honestly say I'm officially a huge Pee-wee fan!
Yeah I believe they just starting filming last month or earlier this month and it should come out in 2016 I believe. There's been plans to make it for quite a while. If you haven't seen both his original Broadway show and the remake of it from back in 2010 I recommend you watch it's

Best appeareance of Paul out of character ever, so genuine. Finally he can make jokes about what he went through, so well deserved that this man made it back in the saddle, he´s my hero.
This interview, says it All. Tysm for this 🎁
Paul Reubens is so genuine and sweet! I wish he never had to deal with those two scandals.
Geez, what an articulate, funny human being. The more I learn about him, the more I miss him!
Loved him from day one and never stopped! The love keeps growing!
The Saturday show was the best. It was absolutely brilliant and full of adult double entendre.
Pee Wee’s Playhouse was the best. The characters were so unique and hysterical. This guy is one of the best. I wish him well and a long beautiful life.
R.I.P Paul Reubens aka "Pee Wee Herman"! Thanks for all the great laughs and creativity you gave us! Loved your character Pee Wee, a child at heart!❤❤
I tried the same thing as a child.
I've made many
what about ice cream soup! 🤣
Ice Cream Soup, Yay!
Loved that bit and the salesman
Probably one of the best all around comedians in my generation.
I was just a kid when that HBO special aired, and I was immediately obsessed. My little sister and I watched it over and over and had it memorized. How has he not aged??? I mean, I’m a year away from my AARP eligibility. 😳
He still looks amazing! Love Paul Reubens too.
“If I could fly, I’d be the luckiest boy in the world!”
“Yeah, it’s pretty heavy, Pee Wee.”
Gets me every time.
Honestly what a genuine, humble and passionate human being. I’ll miss you so much ❤
He was a gem RIP Mr Reuben
"I love that story!" Probably my most favorite line from Pee-Wee EVER!
,And hes right. It does work
I forgot just how huge Pee-wee Herman got he was everywhere and he was hilarious. I love him. I love his character and rest in peace.
Paul is an original natural comic genius. He was a major player in the scene coming from the Groundlings and so on. I know he's a sincere loving man who cared about people and children too. I would've missed a lotta laughs if Pee Wee Herman was never born..... He still makes me chuckle. .... Glad to see him doing so well here. ...
He's still alive and well. Nice to know.
This guy is a comic genius right up there with Andy Kaufman. There are few that can do it the way andy and Paul have done it.
totally agree with that. both were their characters on the dating game too
I never cared for Andy K., he was a bit annoying. Pee Wee I liked tho.
Exactly! They both ad libbed just about everything and walked a very fine line on national television. Pee Wee came really close to bombing on Letterman a bunch of times. Other stand up comics just did a few minutes of scripted well rehearsed routine, playing it safe.
I can agree with that.
@sara parker way to believe Fox news tardo.🤭
My kids were crazy about Pee Wee and I think me and the wife were a little also because he really put a smile and a laugh on our faces on everything he did. A favorite skit is when he danced to Tequila at the Biker Bar and getting picked up by large Marge. The Play House show was a staple in our house we still enjoy him in our 70's.
"Take a picture... It'll last longer...haha."
Paul, you are the best. Your show and movies [as Pee Wee Herman] were great and funny.
I have always loved Pee Wee. I never knew what a profound artist he is!
My God Paul Reubens don't age what is his secret such an amazing comedic genius
He will always be remembered by my generation. I was born in 76.🙏
Paul Reubens is a legend.
Paul Reubens is still my buddy, just as much as he was then.
djlowtek weird and creepy? Dude most dudes do it at home including myself
It's a Jewish thing...
Wow. Never saw that until you mentioed it. Totally though.
Paging Mister Herman...
Telephone call for Mr. P.W. Herman.....................
uma loner, a rebel...
Everyone's got a big but.....
He's got the luxury of plenty of time; the tv hosts you mentioned are operating under enormous time constraints.
Letterman hardly interrupted him. He always let Pee-Wee take-over. And then others trashed him for that!
And who is this host? Nobody knows because he's a nervous nobody. Watch him instead of pee wee. He's tripping.
People laugh but I can honestly say I'm officially a huge Pee-wee fan!
that1chick92 It's good comedy. If you ever get a chance to see him to standup at decent venue you will die laughing. His improv is sensational.
I believe it :)
that1chick92 There is supposed to be a new Pee-wee movie he's working on. Hopefully we'll see it pop up some time soon.
Yeah I believe they just starting filming last month or earlier this month and it should come out in 2016 I believe. There's been plans to make it for quite a while. If you haven't seen both his original Broadway show and the remake of it from back in 2010 I recommend you watch it's
Oh sweet. Checking it out now. They have it on amazon. Better be good!
Thanks for posting that sweet interview. Reubens lightened my heart again & again &again. RIP Paul. Xox
His longevity as an actor much less as one single character as Pee Wee Herman stands as a testament to Reubens genius. When I was in college, me and my friends would make it a point to watch his show on Saturday mornings.
A true comedic genus and legend. He was so cutting edge and brave. He is naturally funny despite his insecurity about it.
Love how he answers a question by speaking to the audience. Many being interviewed look at the interviewer only. He knows how to relate to his fans.
I will love you forever Paul Reubens. Absolute legend 💐🖤
I love Pee Wee. His outfit should be enshrined at the Smithsonian. RIP Paul, you're still a National Treasure!
Even “snarky Pee Wee” was still the sweetest Pee Wee. You kindness and magic will live on
I see a lot of a young Jerry Lewis in Rubens(Pee Wee) as they were both so different from their own lives and had made themselves great characters.
I loved Pee Wees Playhouse! It was so imaginative. I was 8 in 1986 and just loved him from then on. ❤
I love this talented man
