Oh My God, I never thought about how much I loved Paul; Till he passed. I have been watching UA-cam videos for days and days. Such a wonderful, generous, and talented man.
Yep, timeless in being unique & memorable, but also timeless in the way his man-child character looks like he's an adult from the 1940s-1950s, then 30 years later in movies & TV that's set in the 1980's (Big Adventure, Playhouse, Big Top), then another 30 years later (finally for the last time) here set in the mid 2010's (Holiday). And in all that time he's still like as if acting like a child from the early 20th century & never aging. Who knows if in another 30 years, someone may want to resurrect the character using Deepfake & whatever else unknown movie technology will have been newly invented by then, assuming rights & approval by the Reubens estate or whoever will grant it. Cancer & other diseases do suck & he could have kept going for another 10-20 years himself. RIP Paul.
Been binge watching Pauls interviews since he passed. I loved him the first time I saw him & still haven't seen everything he's been in. His personal, normal voice is so soothing and makes you love him even more. He was just a true gem and we will all feel his loss to this world where he gave us so much humor and joy and innocence and love. What a great man who broke the norm and gave us the hilarious nerdy Pee Wee ❤❤❤❤❤
Such a loss, so sad! I was a bit older when PeeWee was really making his mark, but still a huge fan of his work and comedic genius! He seems to be the sweetest guy and from what I am hearing from those who were closest to him, that is an understatement. He left his mark on many hearts and minds, what a legacy! RIP Paul Rubens at the "Big Top!"

2019 and first time ever I am seeing the man Behind Pee Wee. It is so difficult to imagine This is the same man in the movie! I love Pee Wee Herman👍👍💟💟💟💟
What a unique talent! Glad to see him so much in current youtube videos. I don't think he gets anywhere near the credit he deserves. His comedy was always so far beyond what anyone else was doing or could even imagine, for that matter. I hope his increasing presence will translate into seeing more of him on screen.
I agree. He's criminally underrated. Course I think he prefers to ride a little under the radar. He's more focused on the work. If you've seen his interviews he seems quite serious about his work despite the light hearted medium. A real pro. I wonder if he's written or thought of writing an autobiography. Bet it would be interesting.
It's 2018, May 16 and I'm just now hearing about your Big Holiday Movie. After watching this video, I'm getting on eBay to see if I can buy your movies. Paul you make me laugh hard even in depressed times. Thank you very much for the fun!

Very interesting and intelligent person, he will be missed. Amazingly Paul is 64 years old here in 2016 - He looked great and had a face that didn’t age. I only researched him since he passed because he was so different. I’ve found a very intelligent, kind and funny person which I now like 10x more. Well done Paul 🙏
I just made my best friend watch this after trying for years, (the lockdown didn't help) . It was absolutely glorious. She loved it and laughed at all the parts I was waiting so long for her to see! Now we need another Pee-wee movie! 4 thumbs up ❤️
I've loved Paul Reubens since I was a child seeing him at the Drive-In with my young parents in a Cheech & Chong movie of all things! Lol! He is a class act! I have the highest respect for his work and the greatest affection for him as a person. And he's just plain COOL! Lol! I will always be a loyal fan ❤
I grew up with Pee-wee, one of the funniest guys of our time. "Pee-wee's Big Holiday" kept the spirit of his earlier work, without feeling like a weaker carbon copy. And he hasn't aged a bit! Poor Miss Yvonne.
Paul Rust was a speaker at my son's high school graduation in Le Mars, IA....I didn't realize he was a collaborator on Big Holiday. :) Pretty cool! Paul Rubens is awesome. :)
I always loved Pee-Wee, especially when Playhouse was rebroadcast on Midnight Swim. Maybe it was the lost decades , but I did find find "Big Holiday" that good.
For me Pee Wee just represents things only a child could get away if they were in an adults body. I was a cute kid that said the darndest things, but you get to a certain age, and you cannot do that without getting your ass kicked. Pee Wee for some reason could get away with it though.
@34:01 "... five years from now; no more actors. It'll all be digital." Paul was off by two years. This is, in part, what the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike is about. Actors don't want to come in, get scanned, and then have their likenesses digitally replicated ad-infinitum without any residual monetary compensation. It's not fair!
Wow??? Hollywood Or most people have gotten over his scandel, Best of luck to this man's comeback I think he should give CHEECH-N-CHONG A BIG THANK YOU
Pfff! What did they think people did when they went inside one of those adult theatres anyhow?! Bahaha! By Hollywood's standards these days, be lucky if that got a short blurb on the last page of the entertainment section...Sunday edition! Lol!
There is no other show like Pee-wee Herman Play House, and Pee-wee Herman Big Adventure Movie. Have not seen Pee-wee's big Holiday, but i bet the movie is Great.
It's too bad Sean Evans from Hot Ones hadn't been able to interview Paul Reubens. Evans does his homework about his guests and would have offered insightful questions and comments.
Someone said he seems sad. I was always the class clown. I knew what it felt like to always be sad inside and I wanted to make people happy. Plus, school was extremely hard. I was dyslexic and hard of hearing and nobody noticed. I was born with perfect hearing but taking me to the dr for an infection wasn't on my mom's agenda.
Pee Wee’s Playhouse was my mecca lecka hi mecca hiney ho all time favorite show as a kid🤣could not get enough of it and Paul’s zany, double entendre, imaginative, one two kick sarcasm and wit. I’m the exact opposite in writing environment though. When I write I have to be alone. Another person in the room throws off my laser precision focus and I find it to distracting. Actually, I don’t talk, text or speak to anyone when I’m writing because I so immerse in the world I’m creating I don’t want to do anything else; I barely eat or sleep either. Then again I write novels, Paul writes scripts. Maybe the diversion in context makes a difference along with differing personality?
I think Reubens' mentioning that Apatow wanted a film similar to Big Adventure was rather revelatory because as much as I found Big Holiday to be delightful, it does often feel like a weaker carbon copy of Big Adventure. It definitely lacked a flair that Tim Burton brought to Big Adventure.
I think it was just shorter. If they expanded a bit, the production quality soars well above Big Adventure, it's very well dated. I don't think one is better than the other, Paul Rust as a writer brought things that the original simply did not have. Pee-Wee fucking rocks.
He collects erotica, he has always had an interest in pornography. I don't think he is, or was self destructive, he has a fetish. I don't judge nor do I see anything wrong with it in a big picture sense. Look at one of the major things that really made the internet for example it is probably pornography.
Little know fact: decades and decades ago (I was like 3 when it originally came out), Paul Reubens was one of those “other characters” in two movie. He was in “Cheech and Chong’s Next Movie” and more memorably he was in “Cheech and Chong’s Nice Dreams” as a guy they end up in a mental institution with, who steals their money and who REALLY likes hamburgers 🤣 He was HILARIOUS (and very, very young) in those movies and you could see the birth of Pee Wee in there swirling around, even then. He was destined to be Pee Wee, destined to be a legend, and it’s visible in the character he brings to life in this early film...and yes, he smokes up with Cheech and Chong 😂👍❤️
RIP Paul Reubens. I loved Big Adventure and his tv show as a kid. I never saw Big Top, i guess because it was never on tv when I would be watching. Ill definitely have to watch Big Top and this now too!
That fact that interviewer was giving the movie props and then didn’t get the “let me let you let me” joke at the end took a lot of air out of the interview
That and how he repeatedly mispronounced Joe Manganiello’s last name! 🙄 There's even video of him saying it as 'mang-gah-nello,' but the interviewer threw a T in there to make it "Montanello." 😖
I loved Pee Wee's Big Adventure to be honest I have not seen this new movie, and this is the first time hearing about it. Which means I am either out of touch or they did a bad job promoting it. I also was a teenager when his show was on, and I would get up early on Saturday mornings to watch it and the Ralph Bakshi version of mighty mouse I would usually smoke a joint first. I was a bad kid.
William Olsen I think you must be out of touch. It was promoted everywhere on Netflix and social media if you follow Paul or Judd Apatow. It didn’t come out in theaters so it didn’t have the same level of marketing you may be used to.
Oh My God, I never thought about how much I loved Paul; Till he passed. I have been watching UA-cam videos for days and days. Such a wonderful, generous, and talented man.
The fact everyone knows who Pee Wee Herman is is proof that Paul Rubens is a genius comic! He created a timeless character!
Yep, timeless in being unique & memorable, but also timeless in the way his man-child character looks like he's an adult from the 1940s-1950s, then 30 years later in movies & TV that's set in the 1980's (Big Adventure, Playhouse, Big Top), then another 30 years later (finally for the last time) here set in the mid 2010's (Holiday). did you always abuse ur parents? in between smacking them you watched peewee? what s hero 🙄

You can see so much a buster Keaton in Pee-wee's routine such a great actor funny as hell. The boy that never grows up

Weird to see how someone who can act so silly and.strange can actually be so thoughtful
First time I have seen him talk normal.
Very talented, I'd say.
A little nonsense now and then...
It takes a very intelligent thoughtful person to be able to do that. He's not a weirdo he's a brilliant talent
it's a prerequisite
Amazing… Beyond amazing… LEGENDARY… Maybe beyond legendary…?
ICONIC!
Paul Reubens is a phenomenal talent. Its ashame that 20 years or more were lost because of stupid public reaction to a nothing burger issue.

Paul appears to be a very grounded person. Not that I wouldn't, but you just can't help but to like him.

I was on The Dating Game three times . I won once , we're now married . Funniest joke of the interview
He did a fantastic job on the movie BLOW.

Between Pee Wee, Ernest and Ed Grimley, that would've been a great crossover event. R.IP. Jim and Paul
Pee Wee and Ed Grimley (Martin Short) need a buddy movie, with a cameo by Mr. Bean.
Omg excellent idea😍🥰✊🏿
sorry - no comparison. Pee Wee would find Ed Grimley boring.
