  • This video covers a challenging spearfishing trip to a wreck site off the Georgia coast near Saint Simons Island. Things didn't go as planned from the start - I was dropped in down current from the wreck and had to swim hard against the current to reach it, using up a lot of air.
Once at the wreck, fish in spearable size were scarce. Between the rough current, the exhausting swim to the site, and wrangling with a speared fish, my air tank drained faster than expected.
I had to make a slow, safety ascent while very low on air. The video shows the whole challenging dive experience from drop-in to low-on-air ascent. A learning experience on air consumption and having enough reserve air for emergencies when spearfishing in currents.
