      On my model 938548 it is impossible to remove the deck belt from the PTO without removing the deck spring. Ya this one is a bear but at least you have to leverage to pull on it unlike the drive spring. I used a spring tool and a strap to get if off and on.

    Great video. Used the info in it today when replacing the hydro drive belt on my Hustler Raptor SD 60 model 935916. Made the replacement very easy. Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge. Have watched several of your other videos especially the one where you gave us a tour of your shop. Just turned 74 yrs young but getting down under my mowers and ATV's to work on them and then getting back up and vertical is getting more difficult every year. Really interested in knowing about the drive-on lift you use. Where can one be purchased or did you build it? What's the good and bad about it? Any info you can share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and PLEASE keep providing those great videos you generate. The thoroughness and quality of your videos are the best I've seen.......anywhere!!!

      I appreciate that! My back was horrible (still is sometimes) until I got these lifts. I have multiple lifts there is a video at ua-cam.com/video/-hNN2AGrOHk/v-deo.html showing the two we have currently. We just got one in Friday so there will be an update video comparing these two with a little heavier duty one we just bought.

    Take a ratchet strap and pull that poly back a little bit and you can easily remove the deck belt from the motor

    Thanks for the video. On my model 938548, 54 inch deck, was not an easy job took over 3 hours. Had to remove the deck spring, and removed the deck belt, and then worked the drive belt over both pulleys over the top - enough room over the pulleys and I used a claw grabber and a screw drive to work them over - no room for fingers. Then around the pto pulley and under the idle arm and on to that pulley. My drive spring is a lot different that this video - it was much more stout and I struggled for a long while to get it on with a variety of tools - such as my spring tools and needle nose vise grips. Not fun!

    I have a Big Dog Alpha MP 48". Do you use the same procedure to replace the drive belt on it? I checked the dealer's price to replace both belts. They quoted me $135 for the belts and with labor it would be $279. If this is the same procedure, that seems like an exorbitant price. By the way, great video. Better than others I watched.

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  3 місяці тому +1

      It looks like from the diagram everything is the same process wise but I am not 100% sure. Sounds in line with what most dealers would charge around here

    Mine was an older model and the golden bracket between the pully assembly and the bottom of the mower had no clearance with the spring on the left. 2 bolts held it in, one 14 that went into the motor and the 15 that had a nut on the top. Just take out the 15 and losen the 14 and you should have enough clearance without removing the bracket.

    There is an electric plug of some kind preventing access to the pulley. The one in your vid is on the back of your pulley where as mine is on the front side and the wire is blocking me from installation. Is that connector a plug or is that a fixed connection?

      6-3-24. 8 pm Why do I remove the electric clutch stabilizer bracket? Your video doesn't show that. I usually have to remove the electric wire and the retainer bracket that keeps the clutch from spinning around and around we just now put it on three times and it keeps jumping off I'm doing something wrong. Great video and thank you sir for sharing your time and expertise . I have a damaged transmission blower fan (rear right side) and will be replacing it when parts arrive. My mower is a 2016 Hustler Raptor SD 60" model #935916. VERY little clearance between top of drive belt pulley and solid metal above it. Almost no clearance so it looks like I will need to drop the transmission down some to access the nut that holds the pulley and fan on the transmission shaft. Since the pulley looks to be in good condition was going to replace the fan only ($17) rather than replacing with the fan/pulley kit ($67). Any suggestions / recommendations regarding fan only vs fan/pulley kit? Also any suggestions / cautions about gaining some clearance by loosening off on the transmission mounting bolts? I've looked at your video play list and didn't find any video of yours regarding fan replacement. Anyway, any advice you could share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance !!

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  5 місяців тому

      Yeah, just drop it down a bit and you should be able to get it replaced without issue. Just replacing the fan is fine if the pulley is good, no need for the kit

    Just put one on a 5 year old Hustler 42 in. cut. Be advised that the new belts may be a little wider and harder to put over the pullies. Really had to work hard as it hits the top of the frame and takes a lot of pushing to get it in. Also there is a skid plate I had to take off to be able to reach the pullies. Had to remove the bracket that holds the PTO clutch. It's not as easy as he makes it look. Took me over 2 hours but I could not have done it without this video.
