- Want to meet some grumpy teenage clownfish? Come and watch some of our oldest fish while we share a few facts on clownfish, like, what do clownfish eat? We will help you keep a healthy pair of clownfish in your own saltwater aquarium or reef tank.
Do you know what the lifespan of a clownfish is? The numbers may surprise you. This video will talk a little bit about why the “official” lifespan of clownfish statistics are so low. A proper clownfish habitat has a lot to do with their quality of life, but it does not have to be complicated or expensive. Clownfish just need a completely cycled saltwater aquarium, a place to hide out and stable water conditions.
What do clownfish eat? That should be your next question after learning about setting up a stable clownfish habitat. There is a lot of debate on food for clownfish, but we believe selecting the correct food will greatly extend the lifespan of any clownfish. Some of our top food choices and supplies are on the list below, so take a look down there for all your clownfish care needs. If you feed them well enough, you may even end up with clownfish eggs one day.

Interesting, I am trying Vibrant as well, but I had a pair of perculas that were 15 years ol, spawned regularly next to their anemone, though I am sure the larvae were skimmed or eaten. Now have 2 brand new baby black ice snowflake clowns, growing well and are happy so let's see how long they go for. Great channel. I would agree, I feed them Canadian Mysis, pellets, both meaty and algae and as an occasional treat bloodworms. I tend to stay away from brine shrimp as these are the McMeals of the fish world.
Thank you so much for the tips that clownfish are not picky eaters, it really helps a lot.😁😊🤗
Had a clown live 8-10 years
question, how much of a cube of frozen food would you feed to two clowns per day? do you feed a whole one per day?
What product of pellets do you recommend?
mine will only eat crush pellets. Its a picky eater depends on the fish
😊😊😊😊
Robert Kings clown fish has a pair of wild caught darwans which are 29 years old and are still laying eggs so yes if look after well will live a long time
i have a juvenile clownfish and i did feed him with crushed pellets but he doesn't even gives it with any attention...
I have two clown fish and they are hardy and one is picking on the other clown fish. What would you do? leave them together or separate them ?
🤯fish food
My maroon clown just died ....31 years old
What’s that round thing is it cup?
Are they still alive? My first time watch your video here.
What is the best salinity for clownfish......Thanks
Clownfish will do well in any acceptable salinity for a saltwater tank. Between 1.021 and 1.026 is common depending on if it's a reef or fish only system. Some fish shops even run their systems at 1.019. Stability is the key factor, hope this helps.
@@HackersReef Thank you for yr info, my salinity is bout 1.021 and they seems to be dying after 2 weeks each time I introduce them into my tank. My tank has been about 3 years old (fish and live rock only system) and my sailfin, my brown tang been doing well for all the years.... I just wonder why....
Can you list your recent water test results? What's your acclimating process for the new clowns? It could also be bullying, but clownfish are usually really tough and can hold their own.
I just got 2 clown fish from a local marine fish shop , and thought I would look at the salinity from there reef tank and it was 1.030 pretty high, my tank salinity is 1.024 , saying that the clowns are doing fine , I did get frozen brine shrimp to feed them on .
do they eat rice?
My fafert fish loin fish do have any
Wow🤑🤑🤑🤑
What kind of pot are they using as a cave?
i think its a terracotta clay pot
Are they still alive?
How about if I feed my clownfish some flowerhorn food is it ok
Thanks for the question! No, I would not feed that food to clowns or any saltwater fish. Flowerhorns are freshwater and have different diet requirements. The clowns MIGHT eat it, but it would probably hurt their health in the long run.
I recommend hikari pellets
Are the still alive
My clowns will not eat the new life spectrum they just spit it out
Oh....Saving Nemo! Unfortunately, the clownfish is now facing an even bigger challenge, climate change. Rising temperature around the world are bleaching in other words, killing off coral and sea anemone…. The habitats clownfish call home….
It's sad,but it's the truth
Its good that they are being captive bred, In the future they might end up like the axolotl, the wild varient of the axolotl is pretty much dead, but its still well populated in captivity. Which isn't great but atleast they arent extinct😅
10 gallons is way too small
Are you still alive and are they still alive?
