Keep in mind it's not the finger print on the quarter that would find this guy guilty. It's the fact that the woman sang like a canary after she found out about the print on the quarter.
Keep in mind that what she's said is not admissible unless she's been Mirandized. She has to be advised of her rights against self-incrimination and cautioned not to speak without her attorney present. Also, I highly doubt cops are going to get a clean print off a coin that's dropped into a meter. There has to be at least "12 points in common" but usually that's not enough. It should be closer to 20. Since the coin with the print on it almost certainly was underneath other coins, the other coins rubbing against it would have obliterated most of the loops and swirls.

@emigrate Don't forget that every cashless transaction has a card, which has so many details that would expose anyone using a meter.
@bobeagle007 what the heck bro, in the clip, Columbo decribed the pickup times of the meter - it equaled 5 hours. Also do you realize this is the comment section, the purpose of which is to comment on things we find interesting about the above clip, which is especailly more relevant on a whodunnit murder mystery! relax!
Dropping a few dimes on the table wouldn't have the same effect.
Oh, just one more thing.
It's not for me it's for my wife.
@@colinp2238 bullshit
I haven't seen this episode, but as others have pointed out, this was a bluff. It's very unlikely that all of the coins in the meter were fingerprinted as would be required. I'm sure that Columbo just realized that, though she was a liar, she wasn't the type to withstand arrest for someone else.
I've handled many thousands of coins. It's possible someone could put one in a machine without smearing my print.
I love this series.... Yay I have all of them.
er war - glaube ich - perfekt in jeder Rolle?! Ich liebte diesen Star...
Peter Falk ist die beste
😊genau! Unsterblich!
Was there any significance to the 'Black Crows' candies I wonder, hmmm🤔... don't tell me! I'll buy the Columbo DVD Season 2! Thank you Columbo channel people!
I can watch Colombo all day long. He was the best. Bring him back anytime.
He is dead.
I know
@@henkoosterink8744 Bring him back though.
@@ProfesserLuigi Have to dig him up.
@@henkoosterink8744 His legacy lives on. Forever.
There' something about the direction of this scene which reminds me of Twin Peaks.
Very interesting! I can see it.
For me this is the best episode of Columbo!
They really need to make a movie, as long as they don’t make it a parody like Starksy and Hutch, Brady Bunch, etc. Read that Mark Ruffalo was thought of and he said he would like to do it if asked, and I saw him in a trench coat online and he definitely looks the part.
Best to not remake this
I would of loved to have seen a movie with Al Pacino as Columbo.
Yes! the smug smile sloooowly disappeared!!!
NAILED! Next time, DON'T LIE!
That Ol' Columbo is a slick Copper! He's got more moves than Ex-Lax!
columbo: you wanna change your story?
susan: lawyer.
columbo: now, susan...
susan: lawyer.
columbo: i only want to talk to you about...
susan: lawyer.
pizda matii 😂😂😂😂lawyer:sing like a bird!
Yeah, that is usually the best thing to do. The problem is that if they find another way to prove the case, they'll charge you and no longer have any reason to give you a deal or not charge you.
All I keep seeing that this is the evil CEO from that Voyager episode, and that Columbo nailed him. XD
Imagine what a field day the writers of the show would have with all today's modern forensic technology.
Unfortunately modern advances have kind of made detective shows less clever. Columbo, Monk and even Jessica Fletcher had to rely on logic and brain power.
Pay-by-phone, GPS, tolls, Places, video surveillance, smartphones, and vibrators.
@@youtbe999 Similar tricks can be done. Like for example, say someone posted a picture to Instagram as an alibi. The post was made at 15:00 whilst a murder on the other side of town took place at 14:45. No chance the suspect could be there in time. Except, Columbo notices the shadows of a drinking glass or a tree and goes to the location the picture was taken. The shadows indicate the picture was taken at 13:00 that day and only posted at 15:00, the suspect claiming it was a picture taken and then posted to Instagram immediately on location. Busted.
@@Fairfieldfencer An episode of _Columbo_ used a similar line of reasoning to prove that an automated speeding ticket was fake. The driver was wearing a photo of the murderer's face over her own face.
It would actually take away from it, in my opinion.
i always fall asleep during this episode. 80s columbo.
