I'm a land-lubber . The size of those things is incredible - this is why I love the WWW - we get to see so much of our world - I grew up in the 70's-80's !
I was there christmas and new year 1977-1978 with coaster Eastholm fore anker ca 14 days we did have many good days there I rember JJ BAR near mainstreet :)
Any good ship master with tanker experience on 100000 dwt can anchor such a vessel. A pilot is only required by the Gibraltar Port and they want to employ those useless pilots
That isn't true, at all. A ship (OS35) has just sank in Gibraltar due to the strong currents of the Bay, it was departing anchorage and had no pilot at the time [They aren't required to be aboard at departure]. This just goes to show how important the pilots are in Gibraltar. The only thing useless about this page is your comment.
Get rid of the music let's hear what going on in the wheelhouse.
I agree with that !
wanking
There is no need for music like this. It would have better if we could hear what was going on.
Gibraltar VLCC Pilot at there best! Well done all!
Why this music to disturb the video?
Why music ??

background music is absolutely not needed on this documentary video, very irritating to the ears
MUTE! MUTE! MUTE! Jesus . . . .
I believe it is only the tankers that need pilot for anchoring as I myself has anchored there with Ro-Ro vessel without pilot, no problem.
