My tailgate won’t open. It tries to unlatch because you can hear it but nothing. I wonder if it’s the same thing 🤔🤔🤔

Just started happening in my 2014. Mysteriously opens and closes by itself. Extremely concerned I'm going to come out to it tomorrow morning with a drained battery.

How would you like to be a jeweler with bags of diamonds in the back. Right after you leave the car, the lift gate goes up and stays up.

The tailgate won’t close may be because they touch the sensors on side the gate

Any luck with correcting the problem? I have the same problem, only My left gate opens when the key is in my pocket and I’ll walk by the rear passenger or driver side door. It will also open it if I’m near the back.

Yes finally. Ford had the car for about two months in the shop. They finally had to send in techs from Ford Corporate. They originally thought the key fobs were the problem. But, in the end, it was some weird thing that had to do with the lights, the switch to turn on and off your lights, which is right next to the open gate switch. Strangest thing ever. Ford Corporate was nice enough to extend my 35,000 coverage protection all the way to 100,000 miles, and they also compensated me one month's payment. It was just as frustrating for them as it was for me. I think the key is to call Ford directly in addition to your local dealer, and file the issue officially with them.

@@1kanderson2 Thank you it has been a head scratcher for me and for my dealership. They want to change the lock mechanism in the rear hatch and I didn’t think it had anything to do with that. I will reach out to Ford Thank you again

@@kevingunn323 mess around with the light headlight swtich. The techs from Ford were actually able to make it manually happen by moving, adjusting the headlight lamp switch. In the end, it's their problem, not yours, so put as many miles on their loaners as you can so in some way you get somewhat of a benefit from the hassle.

@@1kanderson2 I just spoke with the service technician at my dealership and they’re wondering what exactly it is that they replaced/ repaired so they can do the same thing? Or could they contact your dealership? (If so, can I get contact info for your dealership) Thank you

@@kevingunn323 I don't know exactly, but, they should call Rob, the Dealership Manager, at Freeway Ford in Bloomington, MN. Just mention my name, Ken Anderson, the guy with the crazy tailgate. They will never forget! His email address is rstewart@freewayford.net. The main phone number is (952) 888-9481. The service manager is Stephan, who was also extremely helpful. Good luck!!
