- Cleaning out my lateral ditches with the Harbor Freight Ride-on Trencher (Mini Excavator). One of my favorite little pieces of equipment.
It's my favorite piece of equipment too. The best money spent on my farm.
I was pleasantly surprised by my HF trencher . I bought it to mostly plant trees , But I had 2 unexpected trenching jobs come up .One was to replace buried gas line , about 75 feet & 20 inches deep . THe other is to dig concrete footings on a culvert . I replaced all the grease fittings with regular grease zerts . I built storage stands on the frame for the legs . I am getting ready to upgrade the pump & hoses to a larger size . It was a lot of searching to figure out what the hydraulic fittings are on the unit. I know some people talk about changing out the engine for one with an electric starter , but that predator engine starts very easy by hand ! I did put an hour meter on it to know when to change the oil .
.............still faster than a shovel.
How bout this ... get out your welder and put two more wheels on it so it will move faster. For stability, lower the pads to bring the new wheels off the ground. This would have to be twice as efficient.
I like the way you think. Too many projects, but modifications to this machine are always percolating around in my mind as well! Thanks for Watching!
