@@XPLRNASH How do you like the winters? There are cities and towns in Canada that historically enjoy warmer winters than Nashville - as defined by a warmer average winter temperature (December, January, and February).
If you dig a little bit deeper, you'll discover the source for the information (below) is NOAA (a US government agency!). So please copy/paste the following google searches (specifically Google’s search engine!). And don't forget to factor in the ultra-mild Canadian winter nights.

      1. Nashville, Tennessee average winter temperatures

      2. Race Rocks, Canada average winter temperatures
Are you surprised by the fact the winters are warmer in Race Rocks, Canada than Nashville, TN?

I grew up in Hillwood, and then after college moved away for many years. When my wife and I returned 30 years ago, Nashville already wasn't the same. We moved to Williamson County off HPK, and it got to the point where we needed a red light just to get out of our driveway in the morning. After moving to Fairview in 2008, it also became too overgrown, so we moved again in 2016 to a rural area between Leiper's Fork and Boston, and yes there is a Boston in Tennessee.

Both of those are great questions. For most healthy eating options we would recommend The Gulch, or East Nashville. Franklin, Tennessee is going to be the best place to raise children. The reason for that is they have some of the best schools in the country and Franklin is the perfect area for middle class residents.

Antioch was a nice area until the late 90s early 2000s. It had Hickory hollow mall which was the best mall in middle Tennessee and quiet clean neighborhoods. Unfortunately white flight happened as with many areas across the nation. Antioch was hardest hit by Mexicans and Somalis. At the same time for reasons still unknown to man thousands of hipster transplants started pouring into east nashville. Once the transplants arrived and had set up shop many of the blacks moved from east Nashville and into Antioch where housing had become affordable for the first time. Hickory hollow mall like many other Antioch businesses where whites left fell into despair while the areas that whites moved into gained property value.

@@XPLRNASH well, it seems only the "trendy" neighborhoods are featured from the perspective of someone who either doesn't live here or hasn't been a resident for very long. Very nice and casual, I liked the video, but again, narrow on its perspective of Nashville. There are still neighborhood "communities" intact from the onslaught of new arrivals that retain their "old south with young blood" appeal. You might want to include some of those examples on your next video. From the perspective of the 30 year old and under demography you may have nailed it but missed some of the best places in Nashville that may not be on the "hipster hit list" but are still very fine communities.

I really enjoyed this, but could tell you were a _relative_ newcomer. "Sullivan Park"--what is he talking about? Hmmm...the context revealed that you were talking about Sylvan Park! Sure, I know that neighborhood. Pronounced Sill'-van park. Its easy to see why you'd hear it that way, considering that probably most of the people you talk to are newcomers, too. But on the whole, I really enjoyed it.

@@XPLRNASH I think what bothers people is that it no longer has that old country side southern charm. It's been over commercialized and as a result of the forced progressiveness is grossly over crowded.
Confession: I moved here almost 20 years ago from California to GET AWAY from the traffic and "progressiveness" of California. It seems to have followed me here.
I sympathize with those who like to say "Please don't California my Tennessee".
I find myself having to give a disclaimer any time I talk to a Native Tennesseean that I am NOT one of "THOSE Californians who moved to Nashville".
I actually CAME HERE because I wanted my family and I to live in the quiet charming southern Bible Belt.
I realize as a millennial you probably enjoy the hip progressive "thriving" (as you say) vibe of the new Nashville.
Just understand; some people who have grown up here and have had decades to centuries of ancestry here sort of feel like they've been invaded and blown out of a home that they once cherished by a bunch of progressives who decided to change literally everything about the culture here.
And I do not believe I exaggerate when I say "invaded" because many families have lost farmland that was in their name for centuries to the "movers and shakers" who sought to commercialize Nashville into a "thriving" town.
Now, having said that. I want to commend you. Though it's fairly obvious where you stand on the progressiveness of the city, I do actually appreciate your channel because you are not afraid to pay homage to the history. Though you may not know a lot of it, I detect a respect coming from you that is uncommon from most "young hipster progressive Nashvillians" and for that, I thank you and can happily say, you have a new follower to your channel.

      @XPLRNASH  3 роки тому

@@sdssteward Thank you for the sub! Also, if you take a listen to our podcast, you might learn that we don't want the California policies in Nashville either. We believe that we can have a thriving city that's unique in how it's governed. Is there always going to be progressive movements that happen because of a larger city? Sure, but we know that in the long run, if Nashville went the pace of LA, we won't have a city. Hope you get a chance to listen to the podcast! Cheers, brother!
