As to inbuilt speakers? I agree, and with Atmos signal management, I would say tge sound stage is larger, more defined and more enveloping, like that larger blanket you described. It's all degrees, and incremental steps these days, within a given format. Interested in rollable displays, cause I absolutely detest the seam on foldable designs. It's acceptable - and required... on an ass, not so much on a phone.
I like the "detail enhancer" option on the 108 mp mode that you missed covering in this video

Totally agree about the sound. It definitely sounds more immersive. And the burst mode lol, others can't stop complaining how they can't capture the action. You can use 3rd party icons with Theme Park though.

Don't think. Get. I'm a Noter from Note 2 (went back and got the OG, just for thoroughness) - skipped the 5 in protest on expandable mem -but bought a 1Tb S22U out of necessity, what am I gonna do? 😳 . Currently had a 10+ and a 20U. Guess which one I traded? I'll give you a hint: it was Quasimodo. Don't need two that similar and the 10+ was groundbreaking. Killing off the dual stop mechanical aperture on main lens was a crime against technology.

Great video! Tshaka is one of my favorite reviewers right now. As someone who has been following tech online for the better part of two decades, I started to miss the good old days. Appreciate the video and subscribed to your channel. My Ultra 512 GB Green arrives tomorrow... eager to get my hands on it. I still love my Note 9, it's been extremely reliable with amazing performance. It's showing age of course, but I am only upgrading due to OS 10 and security updates end of life. My wife has the Pixel 6 pro and it takes amazing photos, great sound and very fast. I still believe I made the right choice by waiting, lol. Also, that Spawn picture is sick! I miss the old HBO animated series.

Great review. I still love my Note 10 plus. However, after your video I'm looking at the S22 side ways.
I was planning to buy the Pixel 6 Pro for several months, even with the bugs and December updates that never materialized. Since I was a Note 10+ and 20+ user (since the Pixel XL model seemed to be getting discontinued) I figured Samsung and Google were giving up on the larger flagships, but after watching the Samsung event a few weeks ago, I knew I was staying with Samsung for at least another year.
Received it a few days ago and honestly, I couldn't be happier. Pretty sure I made the right descision.

Hi! Great video. Super informative! I also use the Viral Icon pack, but was able to implement it with One UI 4 on my Galaxy S21 Ultra via Samsung Theme park. I can even chose alternate icons! Is this capability not available for the S22? Anyway, keep up the good work! This video *almost* makes me want to trade up, but with my Spigen SPen case and 4.1 right around the corner, I'll sit tight for now. ❤️

I loved the note line. I know this is the s22 ultra rebranded from the note, but they really are the same. But I switched to the OnePlus 8t and you don't realize how much you miss the S-pen until you don't have it.
I'll upgrading to the s22u from OnePlus 7 Pro. Still a great phone with no issues. I hope the s22u Is a worthy upgrade.
I didn't go for the Ultra this year and got the S22 plus but I love how powerful the Ultra it is.
Same. The curved display makes it near impossible to find a good, reliable screen protector for it. So I traded in my Note 20 Ultra for the S22 Plus.

Need to correct you about the charger situation. The charger must be PPS and USB 3.0 compatible to get the advertised charging speeds. Older PD chargers will be "Noteably" slower.
Without going into great detail about it in this video (it would’ve been another 5 minutes or more longer), that’s why I said to look at a GaN charger AND an appropriate cable. GaN Being a relatively new tech, in many cases should cover people for PPS, which is part of the PD 3.0 standard, which has been supported in Samsung devices since the S20. Even the Note 10 is supposed to support PPS standard. I’ll get more into this and provide some specific options for those looking, in a tips and tricks follow up.
I have volt/wattage testers, so I’ll see just how much slower any old PD chargers I have lying around will be. My guess is that they’ll still be faster than whatever bottom of the barrel output charger would’ve been included in the box? I could be wrong though.

In the camera mode can you choose pro and then change the aperture or iso and that would change the shutter speed?
They’re separate ways of controlling light. The ISO controls the the amount of light by the sensitivity of the sensor. The shutter speed controls the amount of light by the length of time.

I'm unable to get 60fps consistently on Pokémon unite. It throttles and drops fps to 35-45fps. Have the Snapdragon variant. Anyone else facing this issue?

Feels like the pixel 7 and 8 if they get there act together could be amazing. I really like the 6 Pro but just too many little issues.
Definitely the S22 Ultra. I currently have the 6pro and while it is a very good phone, the battery life is still terrible. Even after all the updates. I've had the S22 Ultra and made the mistake of trading it in.
Displaymate always gives Samsung's latest a stellar rating. Why not this year?

Is it just me or does this review completely omit any discussion about the software performance?
I absolutely touched on software performance holistically as I talked about the S Pen, showed how smooth the frequently used app switching was, camera software and audio output, along with software hooks. It wasn't overtly OneUI 4.1 because that's deserving of it's own video, plus tips and tricks, coming up soon.
Lots of review out there said the stereo is a downgrade from the s21 ultra.

I have the Fold 3, the Note 20 Ultra (rose) and I ordered the 512gb S22 Ultra! Lol. I have no problem giving up the Fold as my small hands are tired of fumbling around! And I didn't want to give up the Note 20 just in case Samsung lost their mind and stopped making the Note! They need to bring the name back.... people would have bought it just the same. Smh. But idc as long as I have my beast phone and SPen!!!
I stopped using the Notes because the chassis became too angular since the Note 9 and it got worse with the 10.
For me, the perfect Note design would be to have this Note 22 Ultra with the Note 8 chassis and a flat screen like on the standard S22s, the curved screen no longer having any reason to be given the thinness of standard S22s screen borders.
All manufacturers who sell smartphones with curved screens should have the kindness, not in fact the obligation, to provide tempered glasses like the white stone dome.
I don't like the angular design of the S22 Ultra but the S22+ is not worth 1000$, I think the S21 Ultra is still the best option especially since on the gray market you can get it in very very good condition between $600 - $700.
I hope Samsung will understand that no one buys a $1000 smartphone to have a sub smartphone, even Apple can't afford to do that.

So you decided that Samsung now beats Google at night photography based on one scenario where you're not even supposed to use night mode.. for close up indoor subjects, the flash is more suitable. Night modes are for outside open areas where flash isn't relevant.
Nope. I did NOT decide that it beats Google OVERALL in night photography. It did however beat it in that ONE very specific situation. If I produce a camera battle, I'll fully pit each phone against each other in multiple scenarios to establish dominance.
What an odd review, is it me or this review just blindly ignoring the flaws?
Two examples:
@3:57 the S22U has a brightness issue on some apps the video playback is too dim
@9:29 the S22U photo is awful, too much artificial smoothing. The N20 might have more noise but that is the better photo
With regard to video playback, it’s REALLY hard to capture in camera which is why I add my feedback. That’s why when you watch a movie that shows video in a monitor, they almost always fake it with green screen and insert video in post. This is also why many folks avoid video samples showing video on the display. It’s tough.
The zoom shot is way better with the S22U, the Note shot is soft and sharpened. To find which zoom shot is better look for lines or complex textures. The lines and textures should appear thin and not be jagged or have Halos around them. Look at the neting in the back ground or the frame of the vehicle, the lines are crisp and no halos on the S22.
As for HDR capture, it's difficult to capture on camera. The brightness change is real, it happened with all Samsung phones before getting proper HDR update from the apps to take advantage of the brigher display. HDR10+ changes brightness on a frame by frame basis, but they shouldn't be jarring.

Probably the best review I've seen! I got the S22 Ultra recently and I'm very happy - my only complaint is the curved display. It's such a pain to find even a TPU screen protector that won't bubble or rise up those edges. If Samsung would flatten this phone but retain the large frame and sharp corners, I would be so happy.
