My friend Alex showed me this when he borrowed it from the local library. I was quite stoned, and taking in every word from the performance as if it was from god. I was blown away by how much better "Live" is over an audio recording or a track... this song got right to my bones, the way they performed it and added their own spin... honestly all I can ask for in an album, much less one song.
    RIP Alex, miss you bro.

My brother died by suicide 10 months ago and the line “wipe these tears from my eyes, I can’t shed them anymore” must have been exactly what he was thinking. Cry every time I hear this now.

There's no shame in checking out because it hurts too much. Deep down the desire to die is a desire to see yourself in your essence, as awareness itself.

But it was also a big part of my life. Saw numerous football games here......Army Navy games. Also many concerts. One that sticks in my mind was Gary Wright, Peter Frampton, and head lined by Yes.

What's really brutal is when you have rights taken away, honors overlooked and and more is lost. For some of us this song hits home with a true story in a world filled with lies and worse. Whoever you are, whatever you're going through, find something you can do after the strife and loss. Each year take in something new to outgrow what this world tried to tear you down to. Meet others along the way who recognize your morals and your pains so you grow and they can too. All is not lost unless you let it be. Ensure your story is known somewhere somehow to help others or at the very least beat your enemy in some significant way, even if that's just escape and growth.

I could always get behind the drummers at the shows, Just talked to the guard showed him I meant no harm and I would sit close enough to see Mickey and Billy do their thing. Once the band came back out as promised I got up and split thanking the guard. But man that place was in bad shape, Urine flowing out of the bathrooms down the stairs. Didn't hear a word Dylan sang.

The trouble with the Grateful Dead is they make the same song sound delightfully different each time they play it. One is exasperated looking for all the versions and put them all together in a file.

they did this at Irvine Meadows right after Jerry came out of his coma in the 80's. this version almost as good. it was sad and joyous and gave me chills. still does to this day thinking about it.....

The typical Philadelphia concert goers were ripping the plumbing open in the restrooms causing rivers of water to spill out on to the main concourse . I miss that stadium. I attended some great shows there including live aid

This was always the song we were most disappointed to hear for an Encore. Knocking meant Walkin. Because they played it too much. But over the years Since Jerry died I’ve come to think that this is actually vintage Jerry. Brings tears to my eyes
