I've listened to as many Solo Cello recordings as I can get a hold of, and Tanya injects the most heart and beauty of them all. Give us more Tanya! Give us more!
Listening to such a piece of music, written generations ago but performed by someone who knows it well, is like experiencing a piece of eternity...the infinite. The is the sound of Heaven on Earth.

Tanya is in the Voices of Music! Tanya, you are such a passionate musician, you are my cello idol, after the awesome 'Piano Guys'. Keep up the beautiful playing!
There's also a 5 String Cello which is used for the 6th Suite since it has a High E String, but interestingly enough you can also play Violin pieces down an Octave with a 5 String Cello too.
Um.. so I went to your channel hoping for the other half, the part where you play the suite 5? non-existent, I was curious how it would sound on a baroque..

I hope that the Manuscript for Bach's 6 Cello suites eventually shows up.
Thank you so much, from those of us who were not able to be in the audience :-)

Baroque cello always sounds better than modern cellos. Love the sound

This must have been wonderful to see live in a small room...lovely sound..
Thank you, Tanya. Your performance is admiring.

I love the sound of a baroque cello, Tanya is a great cellist.
First time i've seen this lady play and i was wondering about her style of holding the bow, never seen it before.

I can't get over the gut string tone. Really considering getting them for my cello......
Pirastro Obligato Cello Strings emulate a gut string sound but they last longer.
bravissima, as ever!
Tanya Tomkins You play pretty good cello.
respect!!!!!
Great...
Bravo
Modern cellos have an endpin at the bottom to support the instrument,
while Baroque cellos are held only by the calves of the player.
Its actually pretty convenient to play like that...XD
Some Baroque cellos have had the endpin added at some point in time, such as the one played by Inbal Segev.
What about the other 3 copyists? Like Johann Peter Kellner?
lindo!
Hi Tanya. Are there performers of the Cello suites that play in concert pitch that you know of?
This Cello is tuned down a half step cause at the time 1) the strings would last longer and 2) the higher notes are easier on the singers voice.
Music starts around 2:55 .
Um.. so I went to your channel hoping for the other half, the part where you play the suite 5? non-existent, I was curious how it would sound on a baroque..
where are the baroque chords? shouldn't they be slightly arpeggiated?
They already are
Ahhh, yes... another "UA-cam baroque cello expert". Now, aren't we just Sooo fortunate?! 🙄🤣
Interesting bow hold
its baroque bow hold
SUCH BAROQUE
quite similar ton to viola da gamba
Cello is best when you have some violins with you
Your personal opinion Only! It is one of the finest of solo musical instruments ever built by humans, along with the Steinway Model D concert grand.
Or quite baroque, that is...
That cello looks quite broke, there's no endpin
its baroque cello. tuned to 415 hz and has no endpin
@@arsantiqua8741 415 means it's tuned down a half step (B, G flat, D flat, A flat) so the A is actually an A flat.
@@RockStarOscarStern634 it's equivalent to Ab in Equal Temperament.
