- Write a Song like David Bowie... This week I listened to nothing but David Bowie and tried to write a song in a similar style. I mainly studied how Bowie wrote his songs. He used a "cut-up technique" which is a truly unique style of writing which I had never tried before! Watch this a video of David Bowie using that technique: • Cut up techinque- Davi...
I was also challenged by the Subreddit, Song-A-Week Challenge, to write a song using CLAPPING. Mission accomplished. Do you write songs too? Join us! Here is the link to the Subreddit:

Thanks for the comments and the love.
That guitar riff sounds like Interstate Love Song with random chords thrown in....
noice
I think it’s terrible... sounds like country. The ascending riff is cool in the chorus tho

At first I thought he was just going to play interstate love song lmao
That cutting up technique is so interesting, never knew that this was something that happened, but the results are great!
This was super helpful. I just found this channel and I love it.
I loved this format by you. And I love David Bowie. I love yoru Bowie-inspired songwriting!
Hi Ben! I have been away from social media for months and really missed your amazing works, so thought I'd pop in. So thrilled to find this amazing Bowie style production!! I love the way you introduce your works...so entertaining! I love to play Bowie and have always connected with this music! You did such a fabulous job and thanks for telling us about the "cut-up technique"! You are such a fine musician and your performance was excellent! Love the way you "sing your comments" at the end. Take good care, ~Jackie
Very clever! Great video
Sure miss David Bowie, one of greatest musicians of our time. Your playing of Ziggy’s riffs is outstanding. And your David Bowie influenced song is even more outstanding. The story about how you created your song is very interesting too. You’re one smart cookie. Loved it, Ben! :) Janet
Great video Ben! David Bowie was a legendary artist! That cut up technique is a really cool idea, and something I hadn't heard of before! Maybe I'll give it a go too sometime! Enjoyed your new song too! 🙂
Wicked Ben..I loved your David Bowie style song.... really well played and arranged..I really admire your dedication to your Art..you really give it 110% my friend..the quality of your song writing and musicianship just keeps getting better...Awesome
Well done I loved the riffs and learn a little as well.
He dit so much great Music. Thanks for this Video.
The words have to be doctored a bit. When they're purely random it doesn't always work. But it a great idea, it could reveal some really interesting lyrics for songs.
Brilliantly written!
Dang!!! You took on David Bowie!! Impressive stuff man this was awesome!
Great job Ben
Very good in my opinion. Catchy.
Love that riff and enjoyed your Bowie original. Keep cutting it up. By the way Ben picks his nose👍
Come on dude bring this stuff back, this is great 👍
Oh, man, maybe. These are fun to look back on, but not worth the effort. Sorry, Jesse. But, you never know. Maybe. Thanks for watching.
Awesome Ben!! Like 25 :D David Bowie is such a legend!! Have a great week! :D

This song is cool. It certainly sounds like a Bowie song.
We should write a song in the comments, I'll begin...sun is shining on top of me, yet I'm surrounded by misery...next
Ben Aaron played guitar.
Elton John meets Bob Dylan vocal style? with a little bowie thrown in . but BRILLIANT idea, your songwriting process. !!
Right! I can never get the vocals right, but I had a lot of fun making this song. Thank you for listening.

Do how to write a song like John Mayer!
Get a thesaurus and look through the words while you listen to the song you created. And the music should set the mood. And make certain words stand out. That's something I do.
Sounds like a country song
Rebel rebel and diamond dogs👍🏻
A very Hunky Dory song indeed
Wow, that's really nice of you to say. I'm honored!
Your song could really have come from db! Congratulations, man!
I'm honored! Thank you for understanding my approach.

Okay you are going to have to explain to me how you are doing that editing wizardry at the start. How is the CD always in the exact right spot for you to grab despite being put in by you in a different shot?
Oh wait I think I figure it out, you do the shot of you putting them there FIRST then leave them there then go sit down and film the second shot of you doing the intro. But you would have to do some kind of fading to make sure your reflection didn't suddenly appear in the cd case? Which I think you did. Also still hard to get the timing of the duet singing right. Good stuff.
You got it! The first shot is me putting the records down, then I do the talking introduction and grab the albums I put down. I record both shots in one long take so I don't have to touch the camera. I cut the video and place them on top of each other and use the "eight-point garbage matte" to cut out the first video. This week I had some reflection issues in the CD, so I had to make an extended fade-out. I sync the duet part, and that's about it! As always, thank you so much for watching my music-y videos, Scott. Always fun to see your comments.
Could you do how to write a song like nirvana
You've got good taste in music. I'll try to get around to it, man. Stay healthy. -Ben
Sounds like smashing pumpkins' soft songs
Great observation, Makarenko. I love Smashing Pumpkins and David Bowie.

You are FAMEous now. But in truth, I don't know Bowie well enough to be a judge.
