You are brilliant at color combos (among other talents!!). Loved this, and you are right, it will require written steps and playing and stopping the video... thanks for another great session!!
Absolutely awesome technique!!! BUT, I had to watch it four times to make sure I wrote down all the steps in order. (I'm old, my brain is tired and not as absorbant as it used to be.) Totally worth the time and concentration. You are an extraordinary instructor!!!! I hope to attend one of your vacations, er, multi day seminars in the next year.
Wow, wow, wow!! I love this technique and will definitely be giving it a try. I love your tutorials and your creativeness. Thank you for sharing with us.
Hello, Gorgeous! THAT was FUN!! I loved doing that! I ran for my gel plate, hit replay and printed along with you this time. SOOOOOOO Cool! Thank you for once again providing that spark of play that I needed, Elizabeth! You're so awesome. Love and Bless xo EDIT: I alos adore Cobalt or Turquoise with Orange - fab combo every time! xo
The weather has been nice here in ca. Perfect weather for creating art. Watching your video has inspired me to try these techniques. Love the pattern on pattern, and gorgeous color combinations too. Thank you for showing us new ways to use stencils/masks.
Great techniques. Love the tip about applying the paint from the side edge. Nice to see some of your older stencils too. I'll be picking up a couple of them.
the side edge helps, another gel plate off to the side is best, but this definitely helps. WOO HOO some of the old ones are fun and ALL are on sale, you can't beat that
I love this tutorial but honestly, hard not to LOVE ALL of your tutorials! I will definitely be trying this technique and doing a little online shopping! Have a wonder filled day Elizabeth! You’re the best!❤
Well that was fun! What a great technique. Looking forward to playing. So I bought 3 of your stencils from Joggles on Wed. That was the 1st I'd heard of you. Suddenly UA-cam recommended your videos to me. So weird how that happened but I was happy as I really enjoy collage and gelli printing. Anyways saw the email today about the 25% off stencils and went and purchased some more. Was so excited, I realized later that I purchased 2 of yours twice-ha ha lol. I apparently really liked the designs! Yeah I'm a stencil junkie. Thanks for the glimpse of No Cal while you were walking. Looks like my old neighborhood in metro Sac. Miss that area but not the heat. Been a little farther north in OR for 10 yrs now enjoying the mostly cooler weather. Will have to come back for a visit with my friends & take a class with you someday. I can't wait to work my way back through your channel. Have a great weekend. Hi from a new subscriber.
I watched this video twice, second time through I watched it at double speed. I dutifully took notes as instructed right in my notes app. Gotta love Picture in Picture. First time watching, I thought of specific stencils and made note of them. Second time through I thought of die cuts. Zowie! I think it will be easier to control, well not easier, but definitely more accessible for my brain, to create the open spaces and masked areas with paper motifs. I have more chunky shapes in dies than I do in stencils. Most of my stencils have delicate line weights. Using stencils for the second step and die cuts for the third & fourth step is going to be super cool, I think. I’m trying to think of an adjective that’s not insulting and all I’m coming up with is “wild, haphazard, chaotic”. Okay. “Organic” is better. I think Elizabeth likes more organic patterns than I do. I am most often attracted to grids, lattice, plaids, and mandalas. I bought Elizabeth’s peacock foam stamps because I immediately thought of making mandalas with them while watching the introductory video. I think Elizabeth is more comfortable with spontaneity while I am more “I have to map this out”. When thinking about using die cuts in this process, I was picturing a grid. I like to put my gel plates on quilting rulers because it makes it very easy to use the plates like a stamp plus it makes it much easier to register prints. Another great aspect of placing plates on quilting rulers is that I can tape a picture or sketch to the backside of the ruler and then my sketch has a grid overlaid. Second time through I also thought of the character LL Cool J played in the movie “Toys” (came out in early 90s). The guy who said, “I’m a military man. I like a military plate” in the cafeteria scene. I think like that guy I can be quite rigid. But if you like more organic patterns too, you can always use the paper left behind after die cutting. You know how when you run a bunch of dies through at once, you’re left with that funky piece of paper? That leftover bit would also be great in steps 3 & 4. Then you’d have a combination of controlled and spontaneous. And the great big bonus to using die cuts? It’s a twofer because you will also be printing on the die cuts you use in step 4. Oh yeah, you’ll also be painting the die cuts you use in step 3, so that’s more decorated paper. I’m excited to try this idea. You could also use hand cut paper in steps 3 and 4. You know it’s a really good video when your mind just explodes with possibilities.
now this is fantastic wow do i love how your prints came out & yes lol - i wrote the steps down and i cannot wait to give this a try - thanks for taking us on a walk xx
I love them all Elizabeth and really want to try this technique. I didn't make notes but will before I try it! Thank you for the tip about having 2 brayers - one for warm and one for cool. x

What a TERRIFIC demonstration and explanations of a complex and gorgeous results! Thank you Miss Elizabeth!
Oh my pleasure Deb!
Thanks for the tip for putting the paint on the edge of the stencil!
it helps, it's not perfect, but it helps. BEST technique is to use a second small gel plate as a palette!
I can’t wait to try this. I agree about having a book. That kind of learning always works better for me
I like both video and book in combo! I hope you love the technique Pamela
Thanks for being so thorough. Love watching you.
