Bubba Wallace & William Byron in Latest NASCAR Controversy | Ty Gibbs Confirms Concerning JGR Issue

  • The weekend at the Charlotte Roval did not disappoint. And when Sunday night rolled around, Kyle Larson walked away the race winner but, interestingly, wasn't the top story.
There were several to choose from, including:
Tyler Reddick coming from deep in the field to narrowly edge out Joey Logano to advance to the Round of 8. Listen to the No. 22 radio as the team members helplessly see their playoff hopes slip away.
Bubba Wallace receiving a penalty for shortcutting the course while William Byron did not receive any kind of punishment despite making the same move less than a second later. Oddly, NBC's Jeff Burton focused on another driver and completely ignored what the HMS driver had done.
Ty Gibbs exiting early from the race after a mechanical failure. For those keeping count, that's five engine issues in 2024 for Joe Gibbs Racing. In August, TRD said it was addressing the issue. Apparently, there's more work to be done.
-- Alex Bowman shockingly getting disqualified after the race for being too light on the post-race inspection scales. A terrible way to get knocked out of the playoffs for a driver who had beat the odds and quieted his doubters since the start of the postseason with his impressive performance.

FYI, I am not a big Parker Kligerman fan but I am a racer and a race fan who appreciates hard but fair racing.
The 48 had to win to make the next round as an under funded single-car team and the 48 team was clutch and performed above the entire field only to have NASCAR F**k them.

NASCAR screwed the pooch in both Xfinity and Cup. It is just outrageous what they did to Klingerman. The yellow wasn't important enough to throw for 15 seconds but they damn sure wanted to make sure Klingerman didn't win, it wasn't in their script.
They screwed Bowman in the Cup race. The driver has zero to do with the weight of the car unless Bowman went huge brown town before the race. If he was just under, HMS should have been fined, NOT Yank Championship hopes from Bowman. Lagano is a Penske car. Wonder if the next person back in would have been say, Suarez, if NASCAR would have bumped Bowman, since Trackhouse doesn't also own Indy. It is a shity deal NASCAR gave Bowman.

I skipped the Cup race Sunday over what happened Saturday. Jim France hates Stock Cars he wants it to be Sports Cars. I'm "stepping away" from NASCAR for a while. I'm not angry I'm just done. I'm sad about all of it. The awful officiating, doing everything they can to control the outcome of races, the NexGen sports car, the schedule, the Charter garbage, Ticketmaster, the lawsuit, NASCAR is dying before our eyes. I watched the NHRA race from Dallas, which pretty much took up the NASCAR race. I did catch the last lap, but that was almost forgo with the way that Kyle Larson was running. For the last couple years I have watched the drag race first and if there's anything left of the NASCAR race, then I will watch it, otherwise I will catch the replay on UA-cam. Jeff Burton and Steve Letarte should appologize to the viewers for declaring that Parker was the winner as long as he makes it to the checkered flag under caution. That was jumping the gun and confusing everyone at the track and throughout the world. I concur that, as Jeff put it "It needs to be fixed". NBC should prohibit their announcers from announcing the winner of a race before NASCAR tells them who the winner is. That would fix it. NASCAR NEVER said Parker was the winner. Jeff and Steve did (wrong). NASCAR NEVER said Parker was past the line before the yellow came out. Jeff and Steve did (wrong). There was no confusion whatsoever as to what NASCAR did. NBC announcers were just confused and embarrassed, so they lashed out at NASCAR.
When I heard about the #48 being underweight post race I immediately thought of Darrel Waltrip putting ball bearings in the frame, then pulling a string and letting them out on the racetrack during the race. He won a lot of races before they caught him. When it finally comes out what the #48 team did to lower the weight it will be part of the hall of fame cheating stories that have been stock car racers' pride and joy for the last 70 years. I'm thinking it might have been water put in the frame, then released during the first part of the race.

@@michaelrunnels7660 the fact that someone can be 2 inches from the finish line but because some yellow lights turn on at the track means that they have to rack them back up should make NASCAR embarrassed but it doesn’t

    • @michaelrunnels7660

@@RowingFrontal5 Parker was 2 feet from the finish line when the yellow light came on even though the yellow light button was pushed when Parker was approximately 100 feet from the finish line. There is a delay from the time the button is pushed and the lights light up, but the time stamp that records the exact time the button was pushed has no delay. Most of the criticism is the fact that NASCAR didn't throw the caution immediately after a car went into the wall. They delayed for 10-15 seconds or more. Any way you look at it everyone agrees that the yellow should have been thrown, just sooner. Parker wasn't going to make it to the finish line regardless of a sooner or later caution. In my mind the confusion came from the announcers declaring, without any evidence whatsoever, that Parker was past the finish line when the caution was thrown.
