Tony Baker deserves so much more popularity than he gets. He’s funny, talented, a great person, and he needs to be in movies, tv shows, national stand ups. He deserves to blow up.
Robert Pattinson was walking around, giving thugs concrete naps, to anyone who wanted it. #TheBatman is a dope movie experience; watch it in IMAX if you can.
I actually thought this was the best depiction of Batman so far, the way he would stare at people without saying anything, how he fought, and the way he would solved crimes and riddles. The way criminals would look down a dark alley and be afraid of the shadows, not even knowing if Batman was lurking there, I thought was a great aspect of the movie.
Didn’t care for Pattinson as Bruce Wayne but his look and the way he acted fit the context of the movie. At the end of movie how everything came back full circle I think he realized his mistakes and will try to be a better Bruce in the sequels. Love how sloppy Batman kind of was in this as well. Very fitting, Reeves did a hell of a job bringing the characters and Gotham to life.
I think you're on point regarding what you said about Pattinson as he was playing Bruce Wayne. This Bruce Wayne wasn't supposed to have the same swagger as Affleck nor Keaton nor any of the others. He was supposed to be a sleep-deprived social recluse who was trying to find his balance between being the Batman and being Bruce and that was how RP portrayed him.
I can't wait for the next one. Agreed with you on the fight scenes. I hope the next one they implement Bruce's ability to throw more gadgets and decisiveness into the fights like he does in any of the animated versions.
The only movie review that matters. Your comedy has saved my life Tony. As someone who has attempted suicide, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that you sir are a godsend. Thank you and God bless you. And shout out to Sabrina in the shadows. That New York accent is top tier.
I lost my brother to suicide. You don’t think you matter but when you gone it crushes everyone around you. You don’t know how much you impact other people. Hang in there and know that other people do value you.
I loved the Batman. Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne was perfect for Year 2 Batman. He was intended to be Reclusive as Bruce Wayne was in the year 1 comic. I have a feeling that in the next Batman movie he's going to be a more extroverted Bruce Wayne
Most people I've heard talk about the movie gave the critique that Robert Pattison was a good Batman but not a good Bruce Wayne, but like you mentioned in the context of the movie it made sense. You don't even have to be familiar with the comics imo to see that because I think they did a good job explaining that in the movie; this Bruce Wayne wasn't quite the Bruce Wayne we know and he also isn't the Batman we know. This movie in a way felt like an origin story for Bruce Wayne and Batman's identities. This movie makes a great transition for the next move with recluse Bruce becoming the sociable, playboy, philanthropic Bruce we love and vengeful, dark, somewhat gritty Batman becoming more of a symbol of hope. I think Robert Pattison can be charming so if he turns on the charm for the next movie which I believe is already the plan it will definitely be a hit.
I grew up watching Roger and Ebert critic movies and a few other European American men but other then “Men on Films” from In Living Color, I have never seen one of us do a serious critic of movies. Thank you! You’re doing an excellent job with your reviews.
This was a 3 hour movie, felt like an hour. That's how good this movie, this story was. People love the Dark Knight series because of the Joker's and Bane's acting. But those stories were God awful. The Batman's story was well told, like in the Arkham games. I was absorbed.
That Martha Kent rescue scene from Batman vs Superman was amazingly choreographed. It's like the choreography team studied the combat from the Arkham game series and captured it live action.
YES!!!!!! This The Batman Felt like those arkham games regarding the story. But that fight scene is BVS was probably the closest we will ever get to that style of fighting in a movie. That scene was better than all fight scenes in all batman movies ever
This Batman is DCs best. The movie is based off the comic books from the 80s. And there is a reason why DC stands for Detective Comics. The Batman is DCs Sherlock Holmes.
No Tony this was awesome amazing. I never sat up in my chair at the movies. Except for the heath ledger as joker until this batman I was still on the jokers side I never rooted for the bad guy until heath. But this batman had me like wow! Oh yeah
I think Robert’s Bruce Wayne hasn’t separated his Batman life with his Bruce Wayne life. Since he’s still young, new, and upset, he hasn’t mastered having those two personalities separated, in the next batman I think he will have a better spilt personality on the two
His Bruce Wayne look is a modern era look for today's society. When you're young you haven't developed that grown mature suave look just yet so it was by design.
Definitely has room to grow as Bruce Wayne, but that's on purpose. Year 2 Batman is a bit emo, and wants nothing to do with Bruce Wayne/Wayne Enterprises/playboy socialite. But as Batman, he was incredible. Only up from here.
I just don’t want anything to be better the heathe ledger and Christian bale movies. Imma watch it tho. Also I commented this before I watched this video… you the greatest dawg
I understand the detective aspect of the movie, but it wasn't enough to keep me interested. Movie felt like it ran longer than it should've. Hope it gradually gets better into the next films. Batman the character deserves it. Solid review on your end tho.
The movie uses these subtle parallels between Batman , Catwoman and The Riddler in which it depicts that their real selves is when they're in costume. Bruce Wayne is the persona he is slowly realizing Batman needs to create. The reason he can't feel like Bruce Wayne is because he hasn't grasped the need to be Bruce Wayne ( The Billionaire playboy Prince of Gotham) yet. Some of the genius of this movie is what it doesn't say. It refuses to spoon feed the audience. Like who the Riddler actually is and why he's on the journey he's in. It is never said out loud. It forces us to pay attention and see those answers by ourselves. That is so not Hollywood.
This has to be the weirdest Batman just because of how he is easily mixing in with crowds throughout this whole movie. Batman embraces shadow (Is the shadows), not a tank that just bulldozes his way through the scene. Emo Bruce Wayne seemed a tad annoying. The deleted Joker scene would definitely have fared better than what we got in the movie.
I fully agree with the last act, it seemed random in the sense of how it compared to previous events. I also wasn’t feeling Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, but as Batman he was good!
There's no difference between Bruce Wayne and Batman in this movie. I'm okay with that because he's barely in the public eye. I don't like when people say he's emo he's still broken from losing his parents; he never got over it which is why he's Batman. This movie was a 10/10 for me.
I think it was intentional not to really like him as Bruce Wayne. He didn’t like himself. Sometimes when people are trying to find themselves they can be a version of themselves no one likes. I agree with the 4 saxophones and Tony’s assessment of the ending.
We weren’t suppose to care for Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne. Since this is gonna be trilogy, I expect Matt Reeves to handle Bruce’s development like how he did the apes in the planet of the apes trilogy. The Batman movie was an origin film of the young Batman to soon become the Batman we know of. Soon we should see Pattinson learning the duality of being Bruce Wayne & becoming the Batman so it’s not so easy to believe one is the other since both are reclusive as hell
I like that the movie showed how Bruce is much more confident and comfortable in the costume as Batman than he is outside of it. I actually like Val Kilmer's Batman. And I wonder if I'm the only one who could see this version of Batman growing into Val Kilmer's version of Batman 🧐
I hope all the people that had problems with Ben Affleck's Batman killing, have the same energy for Pattinson Batman, because as dope as that car chase was Batman was definitely the cause of a number of deaths during that scene 😁
Saw Tony Baker last night at the Louisville Comedy Club and now I see this on my feed…it feels like Christmas morning!! Love your content and your jokes - keep up the good work!
This was by far the best Batman as far as story telling, character development, and Thomas and Martha Wayne actually contributing to the story. I love how Gotham was an actual character in the movie and Arkham is finally gonna be in this. It's like the Arkham games in movie form. Emo Bruce is better than Playboy Bruce. Playboy Bruce is played out. Enough about the money. I also love that Batman was finally portrayed as a detective which is his entire thing "world's greatest detective". I also loved that he was barely out of costume. Even Zoe bodied Catwoman. Colin Farrell as Penguin was MINDBLOWING. Jeffrey as Gordon is a better matchup than fries and ketchup. I dont wanna hear about Christopher Nolan EVER again!
I think thats the point EVERYONE misses…he WASN’T Bruce Wayne. That mask was NOT created/nor was he still embracing his name (somethibg mentioned and a theme in the movie). He was still empty. He was still growing. He was trying to find his way. Thats the point. Next movie we will see him more as Bruce Wayne. Cuz there are other images and movies (like Tenent) where yhere is a Bruce Wayne somewhere; you also see him doijg that as the movie progresses coupled with some KEY VISUAL CUES THAT SHOW him bringing back Bruce. But in this movie-Bruce was still hiding; like Pattinson said he was “Vengeance”.
Agreed! And I think that is important to this story. He was, like Tony said, bucking against Bruce Wayne. He didn't want that life and it showed. I was happy. Plus... Bruce Wayne, imo, is boring. If I wanna see a spoiled Billionaire I would stay in real life!
Agreed Tony! Outside the suit, he wasn’t appealing but the look of Gotham City and Gordon made it a pretty solid movie. Loved the detective story though! 💯👏🏾👏🏾

Only breakdown I’ve heard that actually makes sense of what’s on the screen instead of whining about what they thought it should have been. THANK YOU
I agree about giving actors a chance. I never thought Heath would do what he did with The Joker.
