    Spot on review, I live in China and bought the TC due to local laws restricting petrol powered bikes, no need for any license or even license plate basically same league as a bicycle, a TC here costs 1 grand to buy and has a cult following with lots of modification options and a lot of aftermarket parts , when you see another one of these in my city it's usually modified heavily, the alarm thing was a fault my alarm unit broke too without any extreme cold but the upgrade was around 20 quid for keyfob startup model ( it's cool to switch it on from a distance)since replacing I never had any problems , the stock tyres are dangerous in the rain and even dry if hitting the corners hard , the socket for battery melted after ripping it full throttle for 25km, I have done over 11,000km without any brake pad or disc issues(apart from slight rubbing noise) I also have issue with battery percentage indicator but was my own fault from DIY wiring as always have 94 error code(too lazy to fix it) , here it's a good bike cheap parts and mechanics are experienced with electric motorbikes, has no service for warranty just a if it breaks they replace sort of deal, the problem is in the UK it's expensive for what it is and a petrol equivalent is much better for the UK Price

      Thankyou and that is very interesting how different it is in China, I have been thinking of doing a bit of modifying myself as I know I'm not getting my money back on it now and I refuse to give the place I got it from any more money to "service" it at 90 pounds a pop

    Great review Ed. I was considering one of these, after watching your full review I am now in two minds whether to or not. Of course we get “Good and bad” in everything, but being a “New” piece of tech we get nervous about our purchases. I currently use a Stingray for my daily commutes to work and was looking for an electric upgrade. My Stingray hasn’t given any problems, as yet ! But who know what will arise. Again, great honest review. Thanks again, keep up the good work.

    Get a volt meter or cheap volt display to tell what the battery charge is. Pulse and coast to a stop will save brakes and increase range

    Best real life review so far - I am guessing this is a Chinese bike so good luck getting bits further down the line. Amongst my bikes I own a Honda FES125 which is mainly used for shopping duties. I fill it up very seldom and it can cover decent distances on one tank. Being a Honda it's got build quality and reliability in spades. It will happily jog along at 65mph and can carry most of Tesco's under the seat. This Soco is clearly a city bike with very limited range, very little power and dubious build quality. Based upon this review I will not bother to see other reviews, this video tell me all I need to know. Well done.

    generally speaking, electronics will shed their problems in the first year. IF it lasts a year, its usually good WELL into the future. Interesting review. The purchase price in AUS seems CRAZY low. I paid 7k for a e-mountain bike that cuts out at 25km/h and has had a multitude of issues........ This is 4.5k DRIVE away.................... Even if it has minor issues, it seems to be EXCEPTIONAL value for money.

    Thanks for the very helpful review.
    Living on a mountainous island the ideal daily transport for me would be something small, cheap to run, quiet, with a bit of pep for the hills, and decent range (50miles / 80Km absolute minimum). On the face of it one of these would be perfect, but sadly real world performance fails on nearly every front.
    Oh-well, you saved me wasting my money so thank you very much.
    I'll stick with my mountain bike + large electric hub motor: Far from ideal as practicable and relaxing daily transport but it's robust, has pedals to help with range, and not slow.

    • @edwardpeak01
      @edwardpeak01  3 роки тому

      I think you'd struggle finding a decent electric bike for a low price that handle hills in comparison to a petrol bike that would do alot more for the price

    I realise I’m a bit late to this party, but thanks for a straightforward and open review of the machine. I’m partly typing this to tweak the algorithm, but also I wonder what you did with it… I’ll check your later videos. Right, I think no e-motorcycle for me then! Les

      You are very welcome and thank you for the algorithm boost. Genuinely makes a big difference. It has been a while so there might be some better e motorcycled now I like the look of the horwin personally, however I am currently using a petrol bike and I can't see it having any competition for the price and range

    I really got hyped about this motorbike because, here in Czech republic, you can drive motorbikes up to 11kW/125cc (A1) with cars driving license, only it is required to not have manual gearbox. And its pretty much only scooters and electric motorbikes.
    But for the price (currently about 125k Czk or 4 273 pounds) I should probably invest time in proper motorbikes driving license instead (A2 up to 35kW) and get myself something more powerful :)

    I was interesting to buy this electric bike.
    I am still interesting to find a cheap decent electric bike.
    I want to find a model with portable batteries and having at least 120 kilometres autonomy.
    I dont have money to spend more than 3.000€.
    Is it any model that you know with this specs?

    • @edwardpeak01
      @edwardpeak01  3 роки тому +1

      I haven't looked at the new model but I can safely say if they haven't improved the overall build quality it still wouldn't be worth it. Mine isn't that old and the accelerator grip is wobbling with the bolt not tightening when turned, and I've had to have a make re attach the rear light box and license plate as it has just shaken off from normal riding

    I have a Suzuki Inazuma 250cc. It has a nice soft ride for city use, gets 80 mpg, can keep up with expressway traffic and has been very reliable. Yeah, I had a break in service but it's been oil changes since then. I can highly recommend this to you if you want a reliable bike that can handle some speed but still get outstanding gas mileage. Otherwise a maxi-scooter like the Yamaha XMax which is a 300cc bike in the States.

    I really enjoyed this review. I live on the Greek island of Rhodes. There is one for sale here, 1 year old, 3,500km on clock. He wants 2000 euros for it. I don't need to go at 70mph, piddling around here at 40-50km/h is OK. I like the idea of an electric bike but after watching this review I am a little nervous about the idea now. There are no 'motorways' here, just smaller roads, the guy selling it has bought a 300cc Piaggio petrol scooter because he needs to drive 75km down the island and then back again on a regular basis. He's saying it will go 70-80km on 1 charge. What do you think? Would it be OK for rolling around here or should I be cautious?

    • @edwardpeak01
      @edwardpeak01  4 роки тому +2

      45Commando personally I’d say it’s definitely a nice bike for slow calm rides that’s how I use mine atm. However his prediction on range seems pretty optimistic, it does depend massively on how fast you go and how flat the ground is and how much you weigh for example I’m 12 stone and it just about does 40-45 on a flat.I’m assuming he hasn’t put a second battery in so I’ll say when I used mine for work I went at full speed (40 -45mph) and encountered one or two hills and it pulled off about 25-30 miles. Now if you went at about 30mph you could achieve a greater distance and even more at 20mph but no one goes that slow. It’s fun don’t get me wrong but don’t buy it if loosing the money spent on it would be a big problem as like I show in a another video I did on this bike it does have problems and won’t achieve what a cheaper 125cc bike would

      I haven't kept up too closely with electric motorcycles since my first one but I have seen what looked like a newer model in a bike shop window so perhaps they have fixed some issues id like to think that they have. Another thing I have noticed is there are alot more alternatives, I am currently abroad and have seen a bike looking very similar to the super soco tc but by a different company.
      So at least now there are more options.

    40 years in electronics has taught me to be wary of complicated systems.

      I have full bike licence but not ridden for about 12 years due to starting a family and the dangers of biking seemed an unfair selfish thing to risk when family relied on me but I'm older now and thinking about starting up again because I've missed it.

    Is the Super Soco TC 2023 model worth it for 2000 pounds "factory new"? It is usually priced at 3000 pounds here, but due to new models coming out there is a sale. Considering the Sur-ron Light Bee X instead, but its quite pricey at 3800 pounds

      I was hoping it might have come down in price a bit more, provided they have improved it a bit and you don't live somewhere very hilly or somewhere with fast roads then maybe. But you'll probably always be better off with a standard Honda 125. I can't speak for any newer bikes I like the look and I want to think they are good but I'm not sure

    • @fallingwater
      @fallingwater 4 роки тому +5

      From what I've seen the TC MAX is an actual motorcycle with a separate in-frame motor and a belt drive. It still doesn't have the power of a Zero, but then it's half to a third of the price of the Zero lineup, and it's still powerful enough to use as you would a 125. The TC on the other hand is intended as the electric equivalent of a 50cc moped, with less power and quite a lot less torque than the MAX. Sure looks a hell of a lot nicer than your average 50cc moped though :D

    I love everything about this bike, even took it for a test ride. One thing that stopped me from buying it is just that top speed issue. I dont think its practical for me to have a bike that doesn't atleast go 120km especially at the price range its at. I think i will stick to the petrol system until they fix the speed and range issues

    So, the replacement of the brake disc is on you. If you don't replace the brake pads in time, the disk is going to get damaged. That's going to happen regardless of whether it's electric or not. If you just replace the brake pads, it's a reasonable cost.

    • @LouFiasco
      @LouFiasco 3 роки тому

      Not at freaking 3000 miles on an electric bike.
      The breaking should happen as soon as you stop accelerating and should even involve brake pads or disks.
      I this case I’m almost sure he bought the bike with used/trashed brake pads.

      Traded it in for a petrol bike but the rear light / license plate holder fell apart from normal riding so the cheap plastic construction didn't hold up well. The accelerator grip also was wobbling with no way of tightening it

    Very good, honest review. I did look seriously at these last year but all things considered I bought a Honda PCX. I also came to the conclusion that running costs may not work out cheaper over time, and aside from your experiences from ownership I was concerned that battery warranty was 3 years, and as they naturally lose charge capacity it could be 75% from new level by then limiting range by a quarter. Factoring in replacing, from memory batteries are £900? Then I was allowing £300 a year budget, but that is way more than I use on my PCX which does 120mpg. Shame really, as I like the idea and check occasionally to see owners reviews, but maybe in the future would consider. Thanks again for the review.

      Cheers mate. Yeah unfortunately with this bike the costs are too high to justify it. I have been looking at other options myself and I have seen another bike called a Horwin but It’s £5000 and even at that price I just don’t know if the technology is there yet to give us a decent affordable electric bike.
