This was probably one of the top messages from FAI I’ve heard. Laying down one’s life for Jesus, taking up one’s cross is what leads to life. I appreciate the humility you exhibited in sharing this so often neglected but primary message of the gospel. Thank you, and I pray that you and the team there will continue to be healed and strengthened by God’s loving and guiding hand through the Holy Spirit. Blessings brother.

Listened to this encouraging message early morning then in my bible reading time my daily scripture to meditate on was Ecclesiastes 12:13-14. Fear God and obey His commands because this is the whole duty of man. For God will evaluate every deed, including every secret thing, whether good or bad. Thanks Joel.

Churches have changed their message over the course of my lifetime. I was not raised in a church attending family, nor was anything Biblical talked about much, if at all. My grandmother did take me to church when I was young, so I did get some exposure. A Bible was gifted to my family as a travel souvenir from Israel when I was in 3rd grade and I think I'm the only person that read it, but I can't say at that age that I understood any of it. I didn't think I understood any of it, except that I knew Jesus, but I've been surprised over and over again throughout my life at how much was actually absorbed as a child and more understanding came with age and further study. I've been involved in various churches throughout the years, but never felt the teaching really covered all of the bases so to speak. None filled the voids in my learning. None seemed to want to answer my questions. None discussed the more uncomfortable subject matter. They all were cheerful, praise and all the niceties from the Bible. They seemed to be more concerned with making services more entertaining to attract more members and especially more young people. I always felt that most of these things were great, but not at the expense of avoiding half of the Bible. They were building better people, better communities, but were they building better Christians?
I am so thankful to all of you at FAI for your teachings and all of the other aspects of the work you do. You have been a real blessing in my life.

Joel Sorgi, you are a vision of repentance and obedience to God's calling that the church needs. Teaching people to give up their sins and live new lives is the real message, taking up their cross of giving up their sinful desire(s), worldly ways, and choosing instead to obey the Call of God for their lives. Which often is living a "normal" life of working in the workplaces of the world, but living like one changed, not one who is "holier than thou". Which means not gossiping, not encouraging of people who speak evil about their country, their employer, their coworkers, their boss. Instead it is praying for them, being helpful, praising good actions of others, rather than only berating them for their own faults. Does not Jesus/Yehoshua tell people to not point out the splinter in others eyes while ignoring the logs in one's own life? One must be an example of someone who is changed and living accordingly. For churches, this means providing the funds for ministry oneself. Paul himself worked as a tentmaker/leatherworker to fund his ministry, he didn't rely on the giving of the congregation's funds for the payment of entire organizations hiring anywhere from half a dozen to thousands of people(depending on church size). If all you are doing is receiving the fat of the congregation instead of using those funds to help people, you are misusing the funds God is providing to help those in need. I hope and pray that others will see this message and be the change they want to see in the world, as we all must if we Desire Christ.
p.s. The only people in a church who should be paid for their service are Pastors themselves, as it says directly: "Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel." Church is a volunteer activity if you are not one of the preachers.

Repentance indeed brother ! -Amen. Repentance, a word you don't hear much of in the contemporary church of today.

  • @Matt24_
    @Matt24_ 4 місяці тому +1

The gospel is indeed simple. The death and resurrection of Messiah. Repentance occurs after a person believes this simple message because by faith, the person acknowledges what the Holy Spirit is speaking. Bible prophecy and apologetics can be tools to draw one to the gospel message. Many are being saved at this time particularly as they see events happen that seem “biblical” or cause them to think about death. Knowing what Jesus is saving a person from is so crucial to being born again. Making disciples should indeed be the aftermath of salvation.

Yes, Joel Sorge is a wonderful teacher!! A man of many talents!! I have an impertinent question for Joel R. I want to get a "DEATH BEFORE DISOBEDIENCE" tee for my pastor. That is so totally who he is! ( Praise God) I found one but it is a wimpy color. Is a black &white version available anywhere?? Thank you for tolerating my frivolous request. Thanx to Joel R. For several years he has been my Gamaliel (tho'I fall a bit short of Rav Shaul!!!)

Thank you! Question: I have always wondered....could Matthew 24:14 be connected to Revelation 14:6? Is that the way the "gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." Humans are fallible, but God will ultimately get the job done in the end so that no one will have an excuse.

There's a whole lot of wrestling going on for many of us. Let God be true and every one a liar. This ministry seems to be wrestling to keep a focus, to stay afloat. The message is true, but the lack of interaction with viewers and the constant change of faces leads me to think there's a lack of leadership within the organization.
'The great commission is teaching people to obey, kill the flesh, die'
I thought that was well said. 🕊

I see it a little different.
New faces being shown to me shows that the whole body is coming together with their various talents.
It's not about one man, one woman, it's about the body coming together and being one.
Thus proving the leadership of the headship of Christ.

Brother Joel S., you hit the nail on the head - "A Gospel devoid of repentance." I am so sick of meeting Christians who have come to Christ (supposedly) by reciting some sinner's prayer, or accepting some invitation from a preacher that has no conviction about sin. Jesus made it clear - You must be born again (born from above), being born of the water and the Spirit. This is a supernatural work of His Spirit (Acts 2:38) and it only happens when people truly repent. People who don't care if it's embarrassing to come to the front, kneel, sob, and call upon the Name of the Lord. How can they do this if the Gospel is presented as just something to add to the portfolio of their life? Jesus paid an excruciating price to redeem us!

Is there any hope then for those who have or are failing in their obedience? In the end, after all, is it all up to US and our "freewill" decision to obey? If Jesus has done "his part" and "my part" is all that remains to be completed or can be altered, then my part becomes the DECISIVE part.. right?
Maybe you guys are really doing well in your obedience, but WHO will save ME from MY disobedience, since disobedience is the only problem humanity has.
But I'm sure this is merely a well-intentioned exhortation to greater obedience. We never want to forget that Jesus lives INSIDE of us "working to will and do of his own good pleasure"...
Who will save me from ME?

Like many things in the Kingdom, it is both-and. It’s his grace that covers us in our broken condition. But it’s also his grace that empowers us to exercise our will above our lesser impulses. Two things can be true; you can be more obedient, while being completely reliant on his grace. Paul said it best when he said that “we see dimly.” The paradoxes and tension points of God’s kingdom that we can’t fully understand with our fallen minds and dim eyes don’t present a problem. They present an invitation: trust god. His ways are higher, and tension like this prove it. We need his help in order to do his will.
