Tried this and nothing changed. Another issue I have is that in the context menu it shows a program name but when I select to open the file with that program it opens it in the standard windows viewer instead.

The problem with this is that you don't have the option of removing MS WIndows software options from the list as they do not even show up. For example, for a JPEG, the list includes MS Paint, Windows Media Center, Windows Photo Viewer - none of which show up in the OpenWithList dialog so can't be removed.

I tried this and it didn't remove it at all, it's still there and it's blocking me from using the newest version of this specific program, so I now have to start the program and tiredly go through the open and chose the file.

Where the HELL is the fileExts map????? Sorry but i have already been busy 2 hours trying to fix this problem. Wich windows 7 created it itself. Because it told me that if i wanted to open a certain file, i had to link it with the corresponding program.... I was in the register-editor before and then there WAS a filexts map, i deleted the (open with) files that where added, exept the: open default one (or something). please help me, or i am going to jump of my roof. (okay its just 3 meters high but still..)
