Honestly, I thought this was a lie just by the surprise in her voice when she saw the card said "possession" almost like she didn't know what that meant or that such a card even existed. She sold the whole thing really well!

I did that with a two tiered book cart... I bought a bookcart online for $15, which was cheap but not so cheap that I was suspicius as they normally sell for between $20-$25. I didn't even bother to chec the dimensionss because the photo they used showed a picture of a book cart with an arrow pointing to the shelf and a photo of legos, which to be perfectly honest I assumed was showing "look you can store legos in this." When it arrived, it was only 6 inches tall...

I'm very dumb/lazy about checking the number of items in multipacks, or the size of the products. I ended up with 6 huge bottles of shower gel (of a size that wouldn't fit into my shower caddy) and 12 tubes of toothpaste that I had nowhere to store 😅

Online shops do that in a way that it is your mistake for not going thoroughly in every detail. The pictures are sometimes deliberately misleading.
I recently bought a pen holder storage box that looked big enough to even put your mobile in the drawer. On the picture they put a phone on the desk for comparison. When I got it, it was too small. It turns out they used a miniature display phone to convince you that it is a big box and they know that you wouldn’t read the measurements of the box that they provided so it’s your fault.

I believed it, mostly because even though it sounds like a lot for a tiny chest of drawers, I remember there was a plot point in the TV show The Wire where detective Lester Freamon said he made more money making tiny doll house furniture than as a homicide detective.

One thing in the story that I thought suggested truth, was when asked how much she paid for the chest of drawers. The near-instant way she replied felt like she hadn't paused to think up a plausible number.
