Your video convinced me to buy the bike. Awesome.
Very good choice if you love touring and long trips. If you have checked reviews, they also praise this bike.
enjoyed the review and candour in your delivery... good stuff mate...
Ahahaha....love it.....
I like the way you start cold with the bike...like "I don't like the colour" I don't like this, I don't like that..etc....bike stand etc...., hilarious...and slowly as the rider (you by the way) experience the ride, you're changing your mind....just realising, the Fjr is one hell of a bike, if not the best around....
Well done buddy for not being narrow minded about it, the Fjr opened your mind....congratulations.
I have to say,the bloke who overtook you near the end was having a better day hehe, all the best cager, keep em coming
Cager. I have a 2011 GTR1400 . I live in NYC USA and I filter all the time with cases on no problem.
your reviews are epic, please do more :)
Nice review CagerOnTwoWheels! 8:45. If ever you come to Paris and drop your bike, call me. I will help you to pick it up and invite you for good dinner! 😉 This is one of the main bikes used by the police here, and they really do miracles with it. They can filter much faster than I can...
Great review - thanks
Excellent review - thanks!
Great review, I always enjoy your opinions.
I really like your tests. Brilliant!!
The Mercedes CLS of bikes.
Enjoyed your review, Cager. I'm still trying to get my first bike, but credit and financial and employment issues have conspired against me. Since I WILL be doing commuting, but mostly American Highways, 60+km each way, I'm looking for a bigger bike. The first three people I talked to all said Yamaha FJR1300. My local dealer has a 2009 FJR1300AE, which has the Auto Clutch system, but that was also discontinued here in the States after the 2009 year. The bike only has 1,800 miles on it, all Demo miles, and is a 'new' bike. While it doesn't have the traditional clutch, I still think for what I would be using it for would meet all of my requirements. It's just too bad they don't have the Auto Clutch over here any more, but most American riders like their clutches. Either way, I don't care, I just want to ride. :)
Hey Cager. If you remove the side cases and use a top case, would it be possible to commute?
Looks like a great bike. Nice review!!!
As long as it's throttle by wire, it's actually really easy to implement cruise control.
Hey Cager! Wonderful review. I sat on a FJR1300 this afternoon, because I'm going to buy my first bike soon! It was the 2004 model (still with normal clutch), but Ioved it! I myself am 1m72 tall, and could touch the ground safely without risking to fall over or anything, how did you experience that? Is it heavy to stop for small people like me? I'm going to testride it next Thursday, so wanted to ask this before I do. Thanks in advance and keep up those nice reviews!
Yeah, these bikes are pretty awesome. A bit pricey, but very very good none-the-less. A lot of bike right there for the buck.
Very nice review... Just wondering if you also do cruiser reviews or only sport type bikes...
He does reviews of all types of bikes, just check the uploads.
Hey Cager! Good review as always.
Since last time I were at Yamaha dealership, I were curious about how to change gears on FJR1300. So now I know :D
Silly question - would you consider doing a re-review of XT1200 Super Tenere (2014 -) on "normal" tires?
PS. Wonder which bike is better for daily commuting (100 km every weekday) + occasional (longer) trips - be it MT09 Tracer or Super Tenere (no 'off-road' involved).
PSS. Any chances of you trying new Aprilia Tuono v4 ? :D
CagerOnTwoWheels Haha - didn't except that kind of answer, but still it's something that is not so hard to imagine :D
PS. Best possible answer ever! Made me laugh so hard that my neighbors wake up :D
+Dartharion I have a 2014 Super Tenere. Have owned from new. It is great for commuting: easy to handle at low speed + lots of low end pull so you do not have to change gears all the time. Easy to ride in town. Seat OK for about 1.5hours. Engine smooth, gearshift OK, but engine is quite noisy mechanically (they all are) but bomb proof. Engine heat not an issue. Hope that helps.
D Casteaux Oh - sounds promising :D Thanks for answer.
Do you plan to review the new updated 2016 FJR1300??? I am thinking of getting one.
Cager, what about heat off the engine? I know the earlier versions had a problem with this.
I've seen FJ1200 guys riding with their legs away from the bike to cool them off.
blipco5 Hi i have one of these and was told that Yamaha redesigned the venting on fairing and i can tell you no over heating issues!
could you test ride a yamaha xv950 (aka yamaha bolt), please?
CagerOnTwoWheels Hello. I need to ask you something . its very important for me. i'm gonna buy cbr650f or diversion f. Since you ride both of them, which one would you prefer to buy ? sorry for my english.
Tolga GÜLER i got the 650f .
The AS is a little slower from 0 to 100 kph than the manual clutch. I think the manual clutch model does it in 3 seconds or so. Can't rev the motor and drop the clutch with the AS. But that's ok. I love my 2006 FJR AE (US model designation).
So if I were to trade up from my NC700XD, this would be the place to go?
Side stand turns off engine.
Its a savety, you can not ride away with stand sticking out.
good job.
i like this guy's thumbnails with the arm stretched out . makes it seem like he's saying, "wtf is this shit?"
Why two parts?
Caravan and bikes, two terible things on the road ... hahahaha, LOL, We are on the same page there. Great review, even for its size and weight seams a great motorcycle for daily use, and I believe that it can face the Bmw 1200/1600 without any problems. But, for that price, I would buy a Yamaha FJ 09 and with the rest of the money, a funny Smart Fortwo for Cagerina and keep her happy. Nice review!
i love the bike man, but f*** those handlebars really.. having that in my line of sight all the time I would probably cry a lot..
LOL scrape the wife :) Good review.
Scraping the wife on the track made me rotfl , awesome review.
Good review, ta. Good bike too - but too big (size and price) for an everyday all rounder.
monck55 I do everything with this. As cager says does not feel it's weight and kinda feels like a 600 800 between your legs. What i find with mine is the perfect fueling. E.G when you let the clutch out the revs lift ever so slightly before you even twist throttle. Dont think i have ever stalled it! perfect low speed balance try it you will be suprised. Only put cases on when touring looks sexy naked too! Paid 11k for mine and a lot of toys (usefull) cruise control spot on again due to perfect fueling.... and pulls like a tank with nitrous ;)
You should ride a BMW GS and see how they compare.. and maybe a Ducati Multistrada, Moto Guzzi Stelvio, and Triumph Tiger.

I was hoping for a LOT more info on the semi auto, as this is the outstanding difference, and obviously with your first gear changes you didn't know how to use the system. so, I found your review a little disappointing.
Tem mas é cuidado como conduzes deixa lá os caravanistas em paz ,andar de moto não significa ser o dono da estrada ok!!!
