- Review of the new Baikal Makarov MP-654K CO2 Pistol "Н" новая версия для экспорта (N Model for export)
This model is also called "Generation 5 or short Gen 5 but don't know really why...)
The Russian letter "H" (located at the end of the serial number of the slide and frame) is the "N" in our Latin alphabet and indicates the new generation of the Makraov MP-654K pistol with Makarov PM frame, Bakelite grip and original milled slide.
All older MP-654K CO2 pistols from 2012 downward have the broader PMM frame, black polymer grip and a cast steel slide (except for the ones made in 1999-2000 that have
a milled original slide as well). - Розваги
AV Lukin signed my Generation 5 as well. This is by far my favorite CO2 gun to shoot, even though it isn't all that accurate. After handling a Makarov, and shooting it, it makes other guns feel very toy-ish by comparison. I ordered a nickle version from the UK and hope it makes it past customs without incident.
Let us know when it does.
Hello!! First of all, 1000 thanks for this video, and another 1000 thanks for your honesty, and attention to detail. Unfortunately only tonight I found this good video. It is being quite a while, since I start to look for a Makarov replica that is NOT chinese, or Taiwanese (??) or ''cheapise''. Until now I had some expectation on these russian Baikal models made where real steel were made. I must say that I loved the look of this model, as it looks just like a real steel one I saw in a museum, here in the country where I live. ( We had colonies in Africa and our enemies were supplied by Soviet-Union, China, and others... so that is why I could see this and TT-33 real steel ones ) But now it was so disappointing... Yet I thank you, of course!!!
You are welcome! 👍👍❤❤🤜🤜
I fixed the springy handle grip by cutting a section of stainless steel 22gauge 17mm x 9mm and glued it to the recessed cut out in the handle between the metal chassis internally on the left hand side where the magazine slides in. With the 22gauge piece of steel fitted it takes the spring out of the handle 👍
Can you post a pic of how you did it? Upload it on photobucket or any image hosting site and post the link here please.
Great review - I also liked the other Makarov reviews you did - best on UA-cam. I want to add one to my collection, I agree about the cut frame issue on the Gen5 - such a shame! Still a great iconic pistol though!
A big part of the appeal of the Baikal MP654k is the fun factor. I've got a 2004 gen3 and it's a little beast!
Fantastic quality, as good as ANY gen1 or 2. Super reliable, as rugged and sturdy as any air pistol ever made. It's reasonably accurate and fires at around 3 joules. I use gamo lead balls in it and it squashes them nicely!
Baikal seem to have really dropped the ball with the Gen5 models.
Looks nice. I refinished mine to look exactly like a real one, removed the sandblasting from the sides and the internals, polished the entire slide and frame to a mirror finish, applied some hot bluing. The only thing that is missing now is to have it etched or engraved to match the hard stamps they used to indicate the date of manufacture and the factory seal.
Very cool!
You should think of the engraving before bluing. If you engrave it now, you will get white engravings. You can only cold blue them, but they will be white again after some time. Such things must be done before bluing.
Your English is become very good!
I was planning on buying this version...but thank god i saw your video! thanks!!
Thanks for your feedback luuko! Always glad to help making decisions. :)
Nice review. Well done!
Your slide has a uniform blue finish all throughout even on the top portion as the 2013 has flat polish on top of slide.
Your slide finish is very authentic.
Great review. I have never seen this actual Russian made version before! Interesting how they used old Soviet-era parts from an actual service pistol!! I have the Gletcher Makarov PM version, which doesn't have any of these manufacturing short-comings, but doesn't look quite as authentic as the Baikal MP-654K model. The Makarov PM is a great little pistol, packs a lot of power, quite accurate to 20 meters or more.. Makarov's are a much better alternative to the CO2 Walther PPK (PPK's significantly less powerful and no blow-back action) which I think the Soviets original based the design on but simplified greatly using fewer parts, making it a good reliable general service pistol easily field strippable. The Makarov is also a lot better than many other CO2 compact pistols on the market, highly recommend it! Had mine 5 years nearly and never had any problems with it. CO2 lasts a long time and it rarely jams.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope you liked the vid. :)
Thank you for the video. The one you have is called MP-654 K 32 series. They were produced in 2012-13 and for the moment have a big value with collectibles. Nevertheless there is a modern production. I have one from 2019. Outside it,s the same and also inside. Only thing is that it,s a new production - not rebuilt from the service pistols. Shooting performance is the same - very hard to get into the target! 🤩
Cool! Too bad I sold mine a long time ago. ^^
Nice review!
The parts are 100% interchangeable. Slide, trigger guard, frame, hammer, sear, trigger bar...etc.
Barrel design is the same except the muzzle was cut to have a bigger inside bore of around 9mm to make it look like a firearm for about 1,5cm. Thus making the effective .177 bore shorter.
Yes, the "Gen5" doesn't have a breech seal anymore. On my of course too.
The pistol in my video was not much fun. Bad accuracy and BBs were falling out the barrel. I can only think of one reason and that is the follower couldn't hold the BBs inside the mag.
your videos are really good. I like that
Byjey 14 Thank you very much. =P
Thanks Rune. ^^
Interesting video, I was also thinking of picking up a new one.... but this made me think twice. That grip frame movement is ridiculous! It would be out a lot more than 125 Euros for one over here in Canada, too.
Great video as always.
Thanks for this great review. I think you can still remove the hammer spring by loosening that large flat bolt where the grip screw attaches. I don't think it's riveted but it is screwed in.
Thanks for the comment airgunsource! :)
I disassembled the mag completely just because of sheer curiosity. But can't remember exactly. I think it was the three hole valve. Magazine seemed to be just like the older ones just thinner to fit the PM frame.
The best 654k models are still from 1999...
I don't like the cut out (empty) ejector slot in the early gen1's and I like the sloping slide so the Gen3 is my favourite. The only other differences between the gen1's and the 2's/3's seem to be gradual concessions to it being a C02 specific pistol.
Example the refinements in the casting of the slide blanks, the wider feed hole to allow for 4.5mm balls, the thicker firing pin, the Magazine catch to hold spring and follower compressed when loading etc.
IMO the best air-mak's are the gen2'/3's.
My 1999 Gen1 doesn't have a cutout on the slide for the extractor. Watch my older video for reference. I also like the original PMM grip on my Gen1 compared to the plastic grip on the newer Gens.
Also the Gen1 is the only model that has the original slide shape of Bulgarian and East German Makarovs. The only thing I disliked on the Gen1s were the small loading gate in the magazine that can't recieve lead Gamo BBs.
I stack up to 8 led bbs in to magazine. It shoot more accurate with those and rounds doesnt fall from barrel. Shot hundreds of rounds through this gun and no problems, just magazine seal leaks a litttle of co2 but that doesnt really affect shooting.
Good video. There have been a lot of big claims about the 'improvements' of the gen5 over the gen4 and frankly they simply don't hold up to scrutiny.
Have you noticed the breech seal has been removed from this version?
The magazine/valve chamber head has been altered and doesn't 'lock' into place. There is often a gap of up to 1mm between magazine and breech which means that pressure is lost.
It also has a slotted 'C' shaped barrel mount/breech rather than a complete 'O'.
The barrel is indeed rifled but I found steel BBs to be more accurate. The steel BBs are like 4.45mm in diameter and the barrel 4,5mm or more so the rifling won't get damaged.
If you can, buy a used older 2000 model instead of the new "H" pistol. If you badly want it, then just get it. I suggest you order from "Sportwaffen-Schneider DOT de". They ship to the UK also and they are CHEAP.
Steel BB's are definitely much better than the copper ones I have found too. Steel ones are far more accurate and they seem to be propelled at greater force, with less jamming too..plus they store better (copper ones corrode over time) I always buy the Umarex brand steel BB's they are the best.
Excellent video - I own two of those myself. Do you know if they are still sold in Western Europe ?
Do any of the Makarovs come fitted with a lever powerlet piecer instead of the screw-in piercer? The manual shows this device.
All the Baikal CO2 Makarovs I had never came with a lever piercer only with this "lanyard loop" thingy attached to the end of the screw.
I think it's possible to put this original slide on the T99 model to have a very realistic gun, what do u think about it? ^^
You might be intrested in knowing they recently made one WITH blowback, finally but it's the wider double mag version, not like this one, Maybe some day they'll make this version with blowback and fix the issues you mention and even maybe some day they'll upgrade to 6MM versions.
Did you by any chance check the valve in the magazine on your gen5? Did it have three holes or just one?
I think you made the right decision selling it. I don't think they compare with the earlier models in any way!
where did you get this
Is there blueing on the barrel
is it possible to fit a gen 5 makarov slide on a gen 4 makarov?
Merich Djelil Should be no problem.
Do you have this for sale?
der akzent,... XD da kann man auch gleich deutsch sprechen^^ aber super englisch, wirklich!
Why your slide top is shiny? It should be matte.
Hey I'm just wondering, which one is all around better, and which one would you choose, the 2009 version, or this 2012 version?
Definitely 2012.
But if you can get 1999 version is the best.
Do you think the 2012 version is the second best one, out of the 5 generations that were made?
E. C. Cannarella
Yes.
Where can i buy this gun? How much? Wo kann ich diese Waffe kaufen? Wie teuer ist diese? Pls tell me!!
I haven't but since the Umarex BBs gave the best results in my older Makarovs I tried them with the new "Gen5" too, but they sucked. Gun is sold btw. Too many design flaws on the "Gen5".
Hi, this is the best video of Gen 5H details on youtube!, thank you for that. Just have a request, if you still have the other mp654k models with you could you please make a video of a pmm model mp654k interchanged with this new h model parts such as Slide.trigger guard..and maybe talk of the difference in barrel designs.Cheers.
The barrels are NOT interchangable across all generations.
The gen 5 barrel will not fit into the previous generations.
The mounting system is different and there is a slight difference in overall length.
Also, ALL the slides start out as cast blanks. The difference appears to be the amount of machine finishing (cnc/polishing marks etc).
the parts are pretty close, I don't think they're interchangeable.
Have you got the Umarex Makarov ,I have the older Baikal Makarov
+Villy Vassell I don't buy Umarex crap.
+2lbsTrigrPull What would you recommend, apart from Baikal . what about the Gletcher Makarov any good, my Baikal Makarovs Magazines leak very expensive for a new magazine ,, , so looking for a new Makarov
Villy Vassell Have you contacted customer support and told them that? You have guarentee my friend.
I'm not a huge fan of CO2 powered replicas. The Gletcher guns are okay but not a big difference from all the other CO2 guns.
+2lbsTrigrPull its an Older Model , the mags are expensive I am looking to sell it hard plastic case and tools ,
How far is this from being the real gun? Could you put a slide with a 9mm bore and a 9mm bullet makarov magazine and you have a real gun? I assume there would be more though. Is there something about the hammer spring mechanism that differ from the real pistol? Given that you say the internal moving parts are identical it couldn't be much! Just curious.. :)
Suspicious question 🤭 (it'd probably explode)
Thanks for the review. That thing sucks....i'm sticking with hermann weihrauch guns ;-)
Ammo Man You just can't beat Herman Weihrauch guns. ^^
I have a question😢What's the difference between the 2013 H model and the model without H🤨
I guess not very much. ^^
@@2lbsTrigrPull Thanks a lot😀
Can you please tell me where you bought this pistol? Thank you very much
DTRCCGroup Sportwaffen-Schneider.de
Looks different with my makarov Baikal
Yeah they differ wildly over time because there are always design changes and different parts they use. 😉😉
Have you tried different makes of BB? What about lead balls like Gamo 4.5mm lead balls, that might possibly help?
怎么购买
Hi, I was going to release the slide (from pulling it back), I accidentally press the trigger while releasing it so the hammer now stuck inside the retracted slide... heeelp!
You are fucked. haha
not really, just managed to release the hammer.. finally.. .. pheew!
stoner27th Nice job. ^^
Thanks for letten me know this. I wan't buy it now.
Cool!?...where i get it gun?...i'm indonesian...
Berapa harga nya?
@@mrdumbum8199 it is illegal to ship pneumatic guns via post from Russia
what the hell! i would rather have a pmm than a thinner worse replica i can not disassemble and squeeze together.
allso the fitting betwean the upper part of the grip and the frame has a gap on my gen 3 too.
Harga berapa om
