Scott, you're like the Bob Ross of motorcycle reviewers. I really enjoy your calm, laid back style, and your videos are so helpful. Please keep 'em coming.
I really enjoyed your video. I bought a brand new one of these this year. Did not go for the sport colour scheme. However I strongly recommend engine bars (BMW issue, and quite affordable). I dropped the bike once manoeuvring on my drive (foot slipped on some leaves). The whole bike rested on the bar, and absolutely no damage. Saying that, to my pleasant surprise I was able to lift it single handed. It is a perfect roadster. Superb grunt and acceleration form low revs (143 NM torque is more than many sports bikes). The only place where sports bikes will beat it is on a race track, but I bought my bike to tour the countryside, not for high rev track racing. Can ride it all day. I truly average 64 mpg, giving it a tank range of 250 miles. However don't estimate its acceleration, in gear 3, and 7000 revs it will launch you holding on to the handle bars. The trouble is there is no need to do this on a public road (ermm speed limits). As a roadster it is perfect.
I took the 1250R for a spin today - this bike is fantastic! I will buy one, although it's quite expencive with all the good specs. My old bikes are for sale already, so I hope to make it happen within the next 2 weeks.

Scott, just picked up this bike - though a 2020, its first year in the U.S. - and in the lovely color shown, the pollux. Thanks for this video...I watched every one on YT, and yours (among a few key others) were especially helpful in affirming my thoughts and eventual decision. Have had the bike now for a couple weeks, and am loving it.👍🏻
Been looking for the updated r1250r review and this is the first one I bumped into. I have a couple of 'thumbs up' of my own to give. 1. Two thumbs up for your self made video. Everything in it oozes quality👌👌. 2. Two thumbs up for all round breakdown of your impressions on the updates. I too would prefer the exclusive option with all cases fitted. 3. Two thumbs up for your channel name! Which perfectly fits the personality of this bike.. Overall, a very balanced review on a very capable motorcycle. Keep rocking them!
This is a really great video about an absolutely fantastic BMW motorcycle. Scott’s description is 100 % spot-on. So much so in fact that based on this video I had to test this machine about a year ago. This video and that test ride stayed with me to the extent that I ordered one in February this year. Had it delivered in early April: touring package plus a quickshifter and driving modes pro. So some 1,800 km later: as Scott says - it does put a smile on your face!! If you are looking for a roadster style MC, go for this one - it will not disappoint you. Listen to Scott’s consistent chuckle - I do the same when riding this thing. And by the way: no nitpicks here - this is just THE roadster!! 😄
Great presentation as usual Scott. You are without a doubt one of the best presenters on youtube. You have definitely encouraged me to take this beautiful looking machine for a test ride. Alas, my GSX 1400 may need to be retired to make way for this baby. All I have to do now is convince the wife that it's a plausible move on my part!! Appreciate the reviews.
Thank you Andrew, that is my middle name BTW. Wife, plausible & motorcycles, hmm...3 words one should never use together. LOL! Good luck with that and yes, the 1250 R is one great roadster, I loved riding it. It's a roadster cause it really does not fit into the standard or naked bike categories. And there are plenty of after-market accessories for this bike to make it into anything you want it to be. Ride safe, Scott
Nice review Scott, looking forward to more reviews from you. I beginning to like this R 1250 R. By the way, may I know the type and brand of small handheld camera used to capture closer details on the bike?
Well, I have praised both the review and the bike previously. Just made 5,000 km on the clock now a year down the line (took delivery of it in April 2021). And that has been 5,000 km of pure delight, if you ask me. Never regretted acting on Scott’s review! Just checked my BMW app with rides history and stuff: I am rarely over 5,000 rpm and think I haven’t even taken it above 6,000 rpm. Still it has more than ample speed and performance to get away from a light or an uncanny situation. That torque does the trick! And just to adjust Scott’s review slightly - in my opinion it is actually quite flickable: I use it for city commuting every (sunny) day and it is a joy! Some will say that the quick shifter is clunky - well, you just have to learn how to use it and you will find it silky smooth. Try one…🤗
Hi, I just buy a r1250r 2022, but I have no take out from the shop yet. I am very exating to go to ride my BMW. Thanks for your good explain about that mc. You do good work, and I se you like this mc, and every tumb up you do, it more and more i love that r1250r. Have a good afternoon.
I guess the Triumph equivalent is a Speed Twin, although this bike is high spec. The Speed Twin is nearly 40 kg lighter and a bit cheaper. Which one would you choose?
@@y2j132 Thanks, man! I am following same channels. It's Ari Henning and Zack duo. I was just curious am I missing some good motorcycle channel. Cheers.

And here we have some great little features, great... good job W. And here we have a beautiful TFT, it’s just beautiful, great... great job guys.. Your definitely the Bob Ross is Motorcycles..
F900 XR fits like a glove for me but I'm also in favor of the Boxer engine with the extra torque. Shall I spend the extra 3k? :) ... no, I don't want to become a GS owner. But perhaps a 1250 R rider... hmmm... Scott ... any recommendation from your side? You rode them both .. :)
While a very nice moto that R900F / XR900 I found the motor a little uninspiring,...smooth nice all round but not exciting. I parked it and hopped on the R1250R and it was everything the 900 wasn't and then some. Not sure what this reviewer is talking about, this bike is "stonking" fast, pulls like a freight train, smooth as glass and handles like on rails (ESA model). I also found it changed direction extremely well. Had it WELL over the ton mark a few times and it got there in the blink of an eye! So confidence inspiring That motor is a gem as was previous iterations but this one is an absolute gem. There is something about a boxer... I have had 3 GS;s (11, 1150,1200) over the span of 9 years. This motor is in a different stratosphere compared to previous. as is the chassis/suspension from previous. I have ridden the 890 Duke R, the 2020 Duke GT (the only one arguably as good if not better) and the new 900's and this new R1250R presses all the right buttons. Great looking roadster das boot ! I know reviews are personal observations but have to disagree with his. I'm on to buying one..
Your presentation style reminds me of the Woodrights workshop from PBS. I mean that in an absolutely positive way. Also thanks for the inseam height inclusion !
Great review Scott, nice style and very easy to watch. I've got a 2018 R1200R, I've had a few bikes lately the same ~230kg weight range (Triumph Tiger 800XC, Honda Africa Twin and Moto Guzzi Breva 1200). The R1200R feels hands-down way lighter than these comparable bikes. It's much easier to manouever, and is much more nimble (even 'flickable' by comparison!) The way it carries it's weight so low, the low seat height and the wide handlebars all make this bike very easy to handle and ride. I use this as my go-to commuter over my smaller and lighter bikes now. I decided not to wait for the 1250R coz it's not available here in NZ for some time yet, and the previous model was on run-out special (2.5k off). I'd love to have that beautiful TFT, but I invested in a BMW Navigator and I spend my time looking at that as much as the the old screen. This bike is a great commuter, awesome weekend canyon carver, and I'm about to do a 3k tour on it. It's a keeper (ok yeah I've said that before..)
Thanks Ted, and yes, if you can get a good deal on a left-over...then it's worth it! It's a great bike, 1200 or 1250, still the same DNA. I hope you enjoy the time on it...and it seem like you already are enjoying it! Cheers from Germany! Scott
NothingToProve its a question - if I can get 2018 for 3-5 k less - is it a better bike for the money ? I have a 2017 tiger explorer - it’s just toooo heavy - also would you buy 2018 Gs 1200 with tft over 1250 Gs if you could save 4 k
@@colonelquickshifter6534 Hey, I think you will do nothing wrong, when you buy it so much cheaper. Just depends on your riding style. The shiftcam motor doesn't seem to have so much more "go" to qualify for such a price hike, when you can save that much money.
Hi Scott. Is the riding position on the R more upright than the RS? I couldn’t take the RS for more than a couple of minutes without feeling it in my wrists and back due to the canted forward riding position.Thanks.
Hello, yes the R is a roadster bike, which means it's just like the car two seat roadster, sitting upright and does have some power but that's not the focus. The RS is slightly 3-4° forward but the R is straight up. I loved the sitting position, comfortable over long periods of time but there is no wind protection, well other than the head light and TFT display but I have ridden with guys that have put after market screens on them and they love taking trips now that they have the screens and bags. And several of the guys say that this is the best way to use the boxer motor! take care, Scott
The R1250r gained 7 kg over the R1200r probably mostly gained from the Euro5 equipment. Bike is basically identical other than the motor and dash. Enjoying my 2018 R1200r.
Great filming and editing. Wish I could afford upgrading from my R1200RS LC to R1250RS. I really like the new instrument and LED lights and if the new shiftcam motor is even better and more frugile than the 1200 LC engine, I think this is close to perfection.
I'm having the same thoughts .... Hoping this has some slightly better low end (why I keep my 2010 street triple around) and gets past the annoying turbulence the bmw r1200 RS offers unless fitted with a sail. Scott, can you speak to any improvement in the low to mid range vs the 1200 LC engines, air flow and engine heat (in the rain perhaps not)
BMW suspension, brakes, drivetrain, and electronic aids are MASTERFUL and work together like a world class symphony. The electronic aids are almost to the point of being dangerous because they compensate so well for rider error, and riders may not fully understand the consequences of bad technique because the bike does the correction for you.
Interesting seeing this again. You mentioned the weight a few times. Some time later you bought the F900XR, 20 kg lighter than the R. Did that seem faster? More recently you bought a R1250RT, which is 40 kg heavier than the R. So I guess weight isn’t the most important factor with these boxers?
The reason I went from a KTM1290 Super Duke R, 5yrs & a naked bike, then to a 900XR for 2 years, then this year to a 1250RT is because I have arthritis in my neck and it's getting worse. Riding a bike with no wind protection is fine on the day I ride it but I pay for it the next day, and for days and days, depending on the bike sometimes even weeks, very painful. The wind pressure on my helmet and a sporty suspension, both make up the problem for my neck. So the XR solved the problem a little bit but on trips lasting longer than 3 days, I just couldn't bare the pain any longer, so, the RT is the sweet spot, has both wind protection and soft suspension. This is the reason you didn't see an Alps trip this last winter, I did go last summer but didn't film it and it only lasted 5 of the planned 10 days and the last 2 days was not fun because of the pain in my neck. When I got home, I did not even sit on a bike for 3 weeks and this was July, right in the middle of riding season. take care, Scott
@@NothingToProve - hi. Thank you for that reply. I forgot about your arthritis. I remember trading my R for an RT back in 2013 (90 Jahre edition) was for health reasons too, after a severe chest infection. I like the RT. I tried a 2019 , but sadly it was too heavy, so the F900XR is the best compromise. I wish i had a shaft drive boxer though… cheers for UK.
Hi I saw your one video and have been hooked due to the honesty and technical insights on how it will be in buying and living with the bikes you review. I have few requests can you do reviews or 1000 KMS review on 2019 Kawasaki ZX 14R and 2020 Triumph Rocket 2500 GT. Do you have any updates on Kawasaki updating their current ZX 14R? Thanks in advance. Cheers
Is BMW missing a trick by not incorporating the satnav into the TFT display or is it a cynical way of getting more money out of you. After all, you only need speed on screen (maybe rpm if you're deaf). Any "red light warning" could replace the satnav function depending on urgency.
I had that same decision. I love the looks of the Rnine T. The r1250r is just a much better bike. The technology and TFT are amazing. You can’t go wrong with either bike. Good luck!
Thanks Kaiser Sosa, yes they are both out here in Germany. Saw this at the dealership and said I need to ride that! So I did. :) The video didn't do the color justice though, it looks much better in sun shine. The color changes as the light rays change so does the color.
This is my first time on the channel. Picture me with a loud voice and the index finger on your face: YOU KEEP SAYING THAT THIS AND THAT ARE TWO THUMBS UP! DO YOU REALLY WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS TWO THUMBS UP? Your review, man. :) And your audio quality is 10 out of 10. You got another subscriber. Now I'm just mad at UA-cam because it hadn't recommended me your channel sooner. Keep up the excellent work. Cheers!
Well, you only live once and it's only money! LOL! Seriously though, I do like the torque, it's every where on the new motor...hmmm...that is a tough question. It comes down to if you have the money or not, it's that simple. And yes, more torque in any way, shape or form is worth the price. :)
This is such a nice and great review! I have (since a couple of years back when tested a 2012-model) decided to get a R1200R/R1250R, so thanks for making me even more secure of this choice! Very interested if you (or someone else) has done a comparison between the 2011-14 and this? (Tried the 2015 and didn’t like it as much as the elder one, but haven’t tested the 2019-22 yet…) Also interested in 2019 vs 2021 models, if there’s any differences. Great if you/anyone could help! Really love the looks of this opt. 719 and color…:)) Great vid once again!!
Thank you, na, no changes from 19 to 22 as of yet. The Shift-cam Motor is better than yours but not so significant. So, keep your 2012 and continue to get your ROI. But if you really want to be up to date then yea, get the 22 model, it is still a great machine. take care, Scott
@@NothingToProve Thanks for your reply! I don’t own the 2012, just decided to go for the big boxer engine but if you don’t think there’s any major differences I’ll be saving a lot of money taking a 2012 in stead of the 2019-22…:)) Do you know if there’s any difference between the 2012 “normal” vs the “classic” model except for the looks? Anything special to be aware of when testing one?
Well, it depends on who you ask 😊 If you ask a BMW guy, then it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. But if you ask a guy that has ridden all big bore OEM's bikes (Triumph, KTM, Honda, Kawasaki, Indian...etc.), you'll get a different response to this question. I'm the latter guy. Yes, it works but does it "work well" as the other OEM's, simple answer is no. There are certain conditions under which an OEM will say how to "properly use" the QS/bliper and for example Kawasaki and BMW have the most conditions under which they say "proper use" for it to work correctly. Now I'm talking big bore here, not the middleweight/smaller engines, also these conditions especially happen with twins, but Kawasaki has these "certain conditions" on their 1043cc 4 cyl...so it really depends on the OEM. Why BMW cannot make their big 1250 Boxer-twin shift as well as KTM's 1301 v-twin or Triumph's 1200 parallel-twin or even Ducati's 1200/1260 v-twin is beyond me. Maybe it's the Boxer engine configuration & low RPM's that is hindering it (cause that's the answer I get from BMW guys). And let's not go there about quality/maintenance cost as BMW is the highest in main./repair costs. Sorry to write a book but this is a very heated topic among the motorcycling community.
@@NothingToProve thanks for you detailed reply much appreciated. I am interested in the new BMW R1250RS but think I'd go for the base model in black with added cruise control that comes without the quickshifter/blipper and just use the light clutch. Thanks again.
Good review. I am curious - you mentioned that you moved from the US to Europe. Where in the US & where in Europe? You are commenting on the weather, but at least you can still ride. So, it could be worse. ;-)
Thank you John, Michigan to Germany. Yes, at least I get the occasional day when I can take the bike out, but back home in Michigan, nothing happening till April.
Hi Bobby, umm...not sure which bike you are referring to where I said that but I think it is the 1250 RT...I think. So with that assumption yes this is close to the RT but not quite there. The "Road" mode on this bike is great and smooth but not on the same level as the RT. But that is the difference you will get going from a Tour to a Roadster. Ride safe, Scott
Ah, yea those two bikes are a little more for comfort and the R it really is a roadster with the normal front forks and while it is good it's not as good as the GS/RT.
would you think the protection and seating position amenable to weekend multi hour high speed joyrides. I have a street triple and a bmw RS and trying to find that sweet spot that has a more grounded, gentle soak up bumps suspension (BMW) , great high end (BMW), but a more lively low end (street triple) and telepathic tip in (street) to put a grin on your face. I love Nakeds and I love the ergos on the street ... the RS ok with some MV risers for my short arms (5'9 and 30' inseam). 80% commute, 20% free time / escape family and disappear for 3-7 hours. My body is ~50, my brain about 23 ... so trying to match comfort to performance. This or something different?
hmm...seems like you want to marry 4 different bikes into one. You just need to get 4 different bikes, simple. LOL! Now I want you to film you suggesting this to your wife. Now that would be a video that'd get 1 million views on youtube in the first day. LOL! I can see it now on the news: "Wife kills husband by strangulation after suggesting he needed 4 motorcycles". LOL!!!!
I've been limited to 2 bikes for as long as I can remember. Especially with 2 teen with another car soon to come .... I hinted we should sacrifice the garden and build an extension to the garage. That end predictably well.
Have you ridden the RS? Hope you could do the RS review soon and tell us which of The BMW R versions will you go for, if you were spending your own money. R, RS, GS?
Hi Roberto, the review for the RS will be out this coming weekend. I'm scheduled to ride it tomorrow, Wednesday the 21st. Then I'll be able to say which...btw...I will be doing a 1000km 3 day ride with it next weekend, so 2 reviews will be coming for the RS. Ride safe, Scott
Yes, on all BMW's. It's been that way for a few years now, don't remember when they started doing it but now every model, the front is linked to the rear. Except maybe the S1000RR, because it's a sport bike and one may want more control over which tire is braking and which one not.
You question the ability to comfortably commute on this bike? My gawd man, are you weak. I commute daily on a K1600GTL, in the city, in congested traffic. The R1250R will do BEAUTIFULLY as a commuter.
I am truly sorry for being weak. I was not born like Thor, the muscles, the hair, the looks...etc. Most of us mere mortal men would like a light weight commuter bike and 240 kg is getting...well let's just say to the limit of no longer being light...and riding it day after day might get old. That was all I said in the video. I have owned a Honda ST1100 and did commute on that for a while and that is a lot heavier than 240kg, so I have commuted on heavy bikes but I also know guys that prefer light weight commuter bikes, those are the guys I'm talking to in the video. Of course not you, the God of Thunder! :) LOL! Sorry, just havin' a little fun with you that's all. Get a few beers in me and my sarcasm goes way further.
Because I only buy green BMWs (mostly cars though!) I bought a 2019 Pollux Metallic Matte F 850 GS a few days ago.... and then thanks to this video, discovered the R 1250 R in the same Pollux green! But this roadster is apparently not available in the USA yet, otherwise I would have had a hard time deciding between the two. I know the GS is a totally different bike, but I think I'd enjoy the roadster a lot more on the street than the GS (although it's a great commuter as well). My local dealer tells me the R 1250 R won't be available stateside until the fall 2019. Why, if it's already out in Europe!?!?!?! Although the R nine T's are cool, I really wanted a true BMW water cooled Shift-Cam boxer twin, shaft drive, and all the new TFT electronics (which I am enjoying on the GS)... This R 1250 R ticks off a lot of boxes; too bad the RS version doesn't come in Pollux.... Thanks for another great BMW motorcycle review Scott - Danke!
Notwithstanding the excellence throughout................. Honestly confused why they took the exceptional perfection of the R 1200 and chose to change it. "Bigger" is not always better.
This is a roadster and the RS is a sport tour, so two different bikes in two different categories. I like them both. But I would not compare them to each other, that would be unfair.
@@londonbiker4266 Rock solid. The problem is that on the RS the bars are clipped right on to the triple clamp and the R they are not, it's one solid bar going over top of the triple clamp, therefore you don't feel the vibration of the motor as much on the R.
Lovely bike for rich people! Coming to think about it though, most of the American and European companies nowadays are mostly making this kind of bikes! Nice to watch them in 4k, impossible to reach close enough to buy them, even at mid 40's, most of us!
Yes the TFT is sharp but I would rather have a analog instrument setup personally. Okay that is subjective but why does a very good bike have to be styled like a seven year did it. We know they the difference between beautiful (R90 series) and let's be polite on this model and say plain? Didn't BMW make sharp looking roadster called the Mystic a couple of decades ago? Just too many sharp angles with no outside beauty, too bad.
It is on BMWs web site. www.bmw-motorrad.de/de/models/modeloverview.html Just not on .com yet. Although they are arriving in the States now, so .com should have it soon.
For me this bike is like a lot of BMWs bikes, they are kinda meh, they have good aesthetics, performance, looks and sound but nothing is great or outstanding.
I used to say that about BMW's but now own two ;-) A R1250R and S1000XR. They are amazing bikes. I traded my Speed Twin on a R1250R. Nigh and day better, although the Speedy looks prettier...

Try one…🤗
Thanks for the great video and review. Love the laid back approach and absolutley - Nothing to prove!!
Speed! The look and the sound is worth it alone.
@@NothingToProve i traded my Speedy in on one. No regrets, but the Speedy is pretty...
@@dant8740 - also taking a passenger is an issue. The Speed Twin does not have a great pillion. I remember the R1200R being a comfortable bike.

this vs the RS??? any handling difference or just the handlebar and fairing difference?
The R handles a lot better than the RS (to me). It feels more nimble and I don’t mind that it doesn’t have a fairing.
I currently ride a 2017 R1200R 'sport' so it was great to see this review of the 'updated' version. Great review and as entertaining as ever
Can't wait for that R1250RS
That will be September then!
Your presentation style reminds me of the Woodrights workshop from PBS. I mean that in an absolutely positive way. Also thanks for the inseam height inclusion !
Thank you, I think, I hope, I've never watched that show. :)
Very nice review, as usual. I don't like that wide aluminum trim on the tank, in sunny days you may get reflections at certain angles.
With all the control buttons it would be nice to have them back lit as per Ducati....... Great Video as usual!
Who set up the first tripod to catch you setting up the other tripod in fast motion?. just curious.
i like this comparison - pulls like a freight train. I was looking recently at one, test rode it and yes, it pulled, like there was no end ...
Scott
Seriously r1200r just as good ?
Who said "just as good"? I didn't and neither did Ted.
And several of the guys say that this is the best way to use the boxer motor!
take care,
Scott

Thank you Scott, now that spring is almost here, and Max BMW is a quarter mile from my house,I can’t wait to give one a go!👍🏻👍🏻
The R1250r gained 7 kg over the R1200r probably mostly gained from the Euro5 equipment. Bike is basically identical other than the motor and dash. Enjoying my 2018 R1200r.
TFT is a game changer.
Scott, can you speak to any improvement in the low to mid range vs the 1200 LC engines, air flow and engine heat (in the rain perhaps not)
Thanks for angling your camera so we can see that TFT display over the GPS mount.
When I got home, I did not even sit on a bike for 3 weeks and this was July, right in the middle of riding season.
take care,
Scott
Nothing To Prove nice review👍👌🙏
I am torn between the Rnine T and this... I am looking for a keeper bike.. Hope u can help me decide..
I had that same decision. I love the looks of the Rnine T. The r1250r is just a much better bike. The technology and TFT are amazing. You can’t go wrong with either bike. Good luck!
I like the R9T looks and lighter weight, but at 59 I went for the superior comfort of the R1250R.
The R and RS are out?! I was expecting them in June-July only. Very nice catch there, Scott
Thanks Kaiser Sosa, yes they are both out here in Germany. Saw this at the dealership and said I need to ride that! So I did. :) The video didn't do the color justice though, it looks much better in sun shine. The color changes as the light rays change so does the color.
The video looks great, but yeah I can imagine how it should look in sunshine, all glittery and stuff!
This is my first time on the channel. Picture me with a loud voice and the index finger on your face:

Great review man!! Love your presentation.
Another excellent review Scott. I like the colour and the screen but, is it worth the premium over a 2018 R1200R? What do you think?
Well, you only live once and it's only money! LOL! Seriously though, I do like the torque, it's every where on the new motor...hmmm...that is a tough question. It comes down to if you have the money or not, it's that simple. And yes, more torque in any way, shape or form is worth the price. :)
Good review…your Rukka gear is a good choice..
But if you really want to be up to date then yea, get the 22 model, it is still a great machine.
take care,
Scott
@@NothingToProve Thanks for your reply! I don’t own the 2012, just decided to go for the big boxer engine but if you don’t think there’s any major differences I’ll be saving a lot of money taking a 2012 in stead of the 2019-22…:)) Do you know if there’s any difference between the 2012 “normal” vs the “classic” model except for the looks? Anything special to be aware of when testing one?
Great review. Thank you! I am buying one for sure.
Jesus where are you test riding this, Mordoor? Great review
Nope, the under-world. LOL!

Excellent video, really informative and delivered well. 👍
I've heard the blipper works well on the boxer engine but not so much the quickshifter?

Thank you John,
Michigan to Germany. Yes, at least I get the occasional day when I can take the bike out, but back home in Michigan, nothing happening till April.
Hi Scott does this R model also comes with the what you call a “magic carpet ride” suspension? Thank you
Hi Bobby, umm...not sure which bike you are referring to where I said that but I think it is the 1250 RT...I think. So with that assumption yes this is close to the RT but not quite there. The "Road" mode on this bike is great and smooth but not on the same level as the RT. But that is the difference you will get going from a Tour to a Roadster.
Ride safe, Scott
NothingToProve you refer it to the suspension of the RT and GSA it was the electronic suspension of both bikes.
Ah, yea those two bikes are a little more for comfort and the R it really is a roadster with the normal front forks and while it is good it's not as good as the GS/RT.
Best review! I bought one today

would you think the protection and seating position amenable to weekend multi hour high speed joyrides.

I have no idea...does anyone else??
@@NothingToProve See my post above... My dealer told me Fall 2019.

Great looking bike, thanks for the video 👌
Are the brakes linked front powers the rear also?
:) LOL!

The R1200R dash for one thing is anything but perfect. The R1250R's TFT's makes it semi-perfect (would be perfect with LED illumination all-around).
How is compare r1250rs?
This is a roadster and the RS is a sport tour, so two different bikes in two different categories. I like them both. But I would not compare them to each other, that would be unfair.
NothingToProve In your review r1250rs you told us that bar was wobbly, how is the r1250r?
@@londonbiker4266 Rock solid. The problem is that on the RS the bars are clipped right on to the triple clamp and the R they are not, it's one solid bar going over top of the triple clamp, therefore you don't feel the vibration of the motor as much on the R.
@@NothingToProve ok many thanks.

Lovely bike for rich people! Coming to think about it though, most of the American and European companies nowadays are mostly making this kind of bikes! Nice to watch them in 4k, impossible to reach close enough to buy them, even at mid 40's, most of us!
Será que vem pro Brasil?
I don't know, can any BMW person answer this question please?
Yup Levi's
Yes the TFT is sharp but I would rather have a analog instrument setup personally. Okay that is subjective but why does a very good bike have to be styled like a seven year did it. We know they the difference between beautiful (R90 series) and let's be polite on this model and say plain? Didn't BMW make sharp looking roadster called the Mystic a couple of decades ago? Just too many sharp angles with no outside beauty, too bad.
I agree on the styling (but wait for the 1250RS!). The 1250R's headlamp is goofy, loos like it was borrowed from the Kawasaki Vulcan S.

It is on BMWs web site. www.bmw-motorrad.de/de/models/modeloverview.html
Just not on .com yet. Although they are arriving in the States now, so .com should have it soon.
I think if you can afford a 1250R, you can afford a SatNav....
For me this bike is like a lot of BMWs bikes, they are kinda meh, they have good aesthetics, performance, looks and sound but nothing is great or outstanding.
I bought my bike by the looks alone. At the end of the day, sitting on it, the only thing that counts is how it rides.
I used to say that about BMW's but now own two ;-) A R1250R and S1000XR. They are amazing bikes. I traded my Speed Twin on a R1250R. Nigh and day better, although the Speedy looks prettier...
