    Thank you for the great review. The R1200/1250R are great bikes and under appreciated. You showed the world the truth. Just great all around bikes. I put over 800 miles in one day on mine. Can’t believe you did a wheelie.

      Totally agree. Bought a brand new 1250R a few months ago, after months of reviewing types of bike. Made the right choice. Love riding it. My only problem is I am insured for 5000 miles a year and I have done now 3000, and it is only August. Can't stop riding it.

    Thank you for a wonderful review. I have one too, with shift cam as well. Love the bike, but then that is my sort of bike. But YOU MUST get engine protection bars fitted. Standard BMW equipment and not costly. I dropped my bike once when maneuvering with the engine off, and the bike rested on its side on the bar. Not a scratch on the bike itself, and I was able to lift it by myself. However, boxers are vulnerable to knocks on the pots, where the gasket can be loosened. Bars protect this.

    super cool bike, bought it last Xmas and did a 5000km tour to northern Italy, France later this year. Tour version equipped. In the evenings I ride fast tracks in my sourounings. I love the mighty boxer, his power is endless.

      It really doesn't as you sit on it. I rode one on friday last week and it had the same mount. Seems like the GoPro was mounted to his chest. By the way. You can order the bike with all the goodies and ask the BMW dealership to just dismount the navigation mount :)

      @@jsprite123 I'm not sure. After all, the more important information is on the bikes TFT (Speed, Revs, Gear). I don't like to look down all the time when riding, because it generates dangerous situations. The best solution would be to include a full fledged navigation into the TFT itself, but I guess BMW won't do that as they can charge a ton of money for that Navigator VI.

      @garys8386 5 років тому

      i second that! Have a 2015 RS and that may be a worthy step up, but hard to justify the coin. But the 719 paint job is ... wowo !!!
      Its (RS) a great all rounded. I do have a speed triple for fun day trips and hot summers (too much fairing and I overheat). The RS is a champ ... great on long hauls and in the winter. A bit long of a wheelbase and weaker low-midrange for aggressive riding and the windshield is a mixed bag. Having said all that - one of the best bikes I've had and I wouldnt trade it for anything else, but newer!

      The appeal of a naked bike is a powerhouse between your legs. A fairing spoils this, might as well drive a car. Saying that, at normal road speeds the wind is not to bad, especially with a helmet. Moreover the naked R1250R is the highest performing of the boxers, on a public road that is. But if I wanted to go on a race track I would not use a boxer. Fantastic acceleration at public road legal speeds.

    I am not trying to be rude or anything, but please learn some weight distribution basics for a motorcycle before you do a review on one. When the weight is down low the bike is not more flickable, it is exactly the opposite ...more stable. In order to be more flickable it should have more ground clearance and needs to be top heavy. Thats why Moto Gp bikes have engine height adjustability as well as some premium sport bikes. For example KTM increased the ground clearance and lifted the engine with 38mm on the Duke 890r in order to make the bike a lot more flickable than the previous Duke 790. Also most the weight savings are down low from the engine and unsprung weight.

      @alantorry3900 5 років тому +1

      I understand that he races bikes so his appreciation of a machine's qualities might well be based on what he wants from the bike he rides ie. 'flickability' in a bike means he can change direction and setup his lines into corners a deal more easily. Knowing a little about the tester's background helps one to appreciate what he's getting from his riding experience. 😊
