I love your humor and honestly. Portugueses love to back themselves on the back and they dont like criticism at all so be careful not to criticize them. Boa sorte!
muito obrigada Teddy!
Omg... I just went to hoodmaps for the first time, I had no idea this existed. Great tip! and so much fun to browse. Thank you!
now a days, at the time of D7 application submission you have to ad one year rental contract with the file, which is giving more advantage to agents to manipulate this situation and force the applicant to take his suggested property on any cost.
it’s always been like that 🥲🥲
Yulia, So glad I found you. You are very good at explaining things and think of the right information to say. And you seem very funny and cheerful. Thank You, Julia
Thank you so much Julie!
Thank you for these videos!

De Esp!!
this is informative, thanks much Yulia!!
Glad it was helpful!
Brilliant video! Funny and informative.
Keep in mind that in Portugal real estate works under a different paradigm. Anyone can be a seller and people can list their properties with multiple agents as well as sell on their own without penalties. Agents traditionally work in the same way as car sellers, that is, they are not there to tend to your wishes but to sell you something from which they can profit, meaning they only arrange visits to their own listed properties. A Portuguese buyer knows this and acts accordingly, going to multiple agents to see different properties, researching for themselves and contacting the seller directly if possible.
Omg!! I have been trying to look for apartment to rent in Lisbon, Portugal and wasn’t so sure.Watching your video definitely helped me…
Thanks so much Julia !!!
You are a life saver!😍
Thanks in advance🙏🏻🙏🏻
Jolina,, I'm so happy to hear that! I hope you find your dream apartment soon 🏡
Thank you from Canada this was very helpful.
You're very welcome Lesley!
You are hilarious! Appreciate the info
Hi Yulia! Love your content and this video is very informative. I lived in Lisbon from 2008 to 2014. I'm planning to move back this year. My only issue so far is the IRS and payslips which are from another country. Please let me know if that was a major issue/obstacle for you.
I live in NYC and the apts. are tiny but I got lucky that my studio is a bit large than most studio size. Live in a pre war bldg. so I can adjust. Thanks for the info.
Thinking of retiring there. Love your presentation btw :) New subscriber here!
thanks a lot and welcome! 🌞
Excellent content Yulia!!...plz make videos for 1.cheaper rent options in Portugal
2.Jobs in call centre and how to find it?especially when someone only wants to stay for the purpose TRC and further.
you can check cheaper rent options on the same websites. hope that helps!
I am thinking of retiring there from U.S. in 7 years. I love your video.
so awesome thank you
Very good video! Can you talk about how you got your cats to Portugal?
Donna, of course! here's a video about getting our cat to Portugal: ua-cam.com/video/w0E7VUFUJuA/v-deo.html
Hoodmaps, great tip
Glad it was helpful!
Юлия, вы умница! Всё что вы говорите можно также применить и к Турции и другим южным странам.
спасибо большое!
Very informative video. Thanks to share your experience and research about Portugal.
Kindly inform official website/app to search job in Portugal.
my pleasure! linkedin and glassdoor :)
Thanks Yulia
Be happy dear. You are so beautiful like White Rose.
Hi there Yulia. Love your vlog. Question. How do you check hoods??😮😮 I don’t know how. Thank you kindly
Hey Nathalie, try using hoodmaps.com. There's lots of information about different neighbourhoods 🙏🏻
Agreed! Sadly Lisbon is not cheap at all.
Im moving with my kid this summer. Im scared of mold and unsafe apts/areas. Do you ha e a favorite rental agency, or company to work with?
Also the size of washer is helpful. Esp w kiddos
Yulia - Do you have any tips or advice/websites that you can suggest for someone getting ready to move to Portugal with a D7 Visa? I know I need to find an apartment - but I'm not sure how that works - when I'm not 100% sure about my date of arrival.
Are there charity stores / resale stores? Like goodwill, salvation army, etc? Places you can find appliances, furniture, pots/pans?
There should be! So far I've found 2 places: feira da ladra (flee market) and Dona Ajuda
Yulia, thanks for making this amazing content! Very helpful! I'm thinking of visiting Lisbon to find an apartment while waiting for my visa approval. How long does it take usually to find an apartment? will 3 weeks be enough? Thank you! :)
always a pleasure! I think you should be able to find an apartment in 3 weeks. start scheduling visits as soon as you come and you'll be fine 🙌🏼
Hi Yulia, where do you buy furniture, appliances, and kitchen ware in Lisbon? Many rentals do not have aircon for hot months or heating for winter, what can I do to make it manageable?
Hey there, we tend to buy things at Ikea, Area, Facebook marketplace. As for the AC, we just installed them because it's impossible to survive without them during the summer. Talk to your landlord, maybe you can install one too. Hope this helped!
I was robbed and attacked by the person I rented from in the Algarve. The police do not care. Only use internationally known RE agents: Engel & Völkers, Long and Foster, ReMax, Coldwell Bankers International, etc. I've heard of other foreigners having similar issues.
😮😮😮😮
outside of Lisbon prices are reasonable, plus a lot more quiet & chill ;)
but it’s also boring as hell 🥲🥲🥲
when you provide documents such as taxes with social security numbers on them...do you black out such private info before you send or show to the landlord? thanks.
you send everything, no blacking out info
Our apartment rent in Ottawa has gone up significantly. Most of our income goes towards paying our rent.
Oh, Canada 🥲 I think the prices went up everywhere, so you're not alone!
@@ThisisYulia yes indeed. But I see Canada really get walloping.
It’s the exactly same thing in Portugal, even worst with all the foreigners with more money than most Portuguese households. People need to do research and not overpay when house hunting
Lol:) Loved it !
Hello Yulia! I discovered your video because i was searching for some info from people who have lived in Portugal since i'm considering it in the next few months. I wanted to ask which is the most trustworthy page to rent rooms in Portugal? You mentioned idealista and casasapo. I'm considering on moving to Portugal in the next 2-3 months but I'm planning on living in some of the cities that are close to Portugal. For now, I've stopped on Almada and Seixal. I've never lived abroad and i'm kinda worried but at the same time excited as the country is pretty much what i've always wanted.
Hey there! Idealista, Casa Sapo and Facebook Groups / Marketplace are the best. There are a lot of expat groups on FB where you can ask / search for accommodation. Hope that helps!
Money talks
I would like to contact you
Please 🙏
@@essymwende1203 Sure! No problem! I'm guessing that you would like to talk about Portugal?
@@essymwende1203 So...do you still want to have a chat or you changed your mind?
@@ThisisYulia Hi, what about Spotahome? Are they ok?
What's the% of wrong info posted by landlord between online hunting site and actual when u land? Thanks that was a fine help!
i’d say 10%. we only had problems with sizing info online vs reality
Any tips for finding apartments that will accept a pet (dog)? None of the rental sites have filters for accepting pets. We are planning to move, but have a family dog that will be coming with us.
try searching without filters and then just ask the landlords. that's what we did with our cat and it worked out perfectly :)
Idealista doesn't even let me have any apartment. Been trying to sign up around 10 or more.
Yulia ..... the real estate thing there is just like here in Brasil, they don't share listings with eachother. IS NOT like in the US where they have MLS, multiple listing service.
Each agent gets their own listings and don't share with anyone else. It's SO stupid because if they had an MLS system they would easily sell/rent many more properties. Very short sighted people
3 year contract?😮😮😮😮😮
What about housing everywhere?
What if I have to find something quick due to a job offer?
I want to find a job as a fruit picker in Canada. Can you help me ?
Hi Yulia, Thanks for the Video, My name is Makarand (short name Mak) and I am planning to move to Portugal from India on Job Seeker Visa. For intial few months I will be staying alone, are there any places for the single person who is new to the Country ? I have to mentioned I will on budget (Unemployed for almost year after I lost job in Covid-19 in India).
It goes without saying that only people who haven't watched your previous video should be following the advice contained on this one... (added later: this is a satirical comment)
do you actually think that smoking people and bureaucracy will stop others from moving to Portugal? I don't think so 🤫
Hello! How did you rent without fiador?
hey, it wasn’t a requirement :)
Спасибо за видео, в тебе есть задатки отличной актрисы ))
Юля, по твоему мнению на сколько жизнь в Кашкайш более скучная чем в Лисбоне? Или для семей с детьми это хороший вариант?
when u can see the whole vlog in english, then can't u write your message in english as well?
12.22 you include image of Porto city and was talking of Lisbon. Be care please…to profit with true image!
there were also videos from Sintra 😉 next time I’ll include only videos of Lisbon

I have a super T1 (1 bedroom)New apartment in Lisbon in Sao Bento. It has been never used. Let me know if you are interested
I initially thought you are residing in Canada.
I moved a year ago 😛
@@ThisisYulia Noted. Thank you for the kind reply. I managed to get 125 in Duolingo English Test and now preparing to apply for school in Canada.
Please make a video Which country better to study and live for international students (Germany/Netherlands/Portugal/Australia)
Ah. You said cat. Was it hard to find a place accepting a kitty
it was super easy! Portuguese landlords are super chill about cats 🐱
You dont paint a good picture of Portugal, I was looking to visit there, not so sure now.
sorry, that’s the reality tho 🥲
Tourism is completely different from living
Hi I'm looking for job and house for rent..
Rental upto 800 ero .. in lisbon.
try checking Facebook groups like Expats in Lisbon. I've seen a lot of housing there!
@@ThisisYulia thx you (obrigado)
You don't sound like a Canadian, more like an Eastern European. The standards of apartments where you're really from are the lowest in Europe. Kind of shocked at your expectations.
coming from America 1500 for a two bedroom sounds like a dream lol
Great info but wow you complain so much.
If you compare Canada to portugal of course you will find differences.
SCAM ALERT!!!!!DO NOT RENT AN APARTMENT VIA HOUSIGNANYWHERE! THEY WILL NEVER REFUND YOU YOUR DEPOSIT OR EVEN HELP U GET IT BACK SINCE THEY ONLY SUPPORT THE SIDE OF THE ADVERTISER/LANDLORD! WHAT A SCAM!!
I am so glad you point this out!
Friend of friend of friend. Great advice, ill get to it right away.
