      Ok so it took me a little while to finish this one since I’m at work but from what you showed it does look like we’re all going to get a chance to pull more goodies out of our old spots we’ve hammered. That’s great news because I’m running low on good sites lately 😂 be interested in seeing how it handles bedrock and hot rocks.

    Strange that all the people putting reviews on about any new detector say how fantastic it is lol really ! are they maybe saying that as they have just been given a free one ? I've been detecting over 30 years and personally most of these reviewers haven't got a clue what there talking about or just out and out taking crap to sell them . The best detector out there is the one most understood by the user .

    I've been using a bounty hunter tracker 4 for a few years now and I've found a lot of stuff. I've finally saved up and I'm going to be purchasing one of these very soon. I took all my non silver/old coins to a coinstar and got over $300 and a lot of them were spit back to me because they were so degraded. So I got about $300 off the manticores price ;)
    Very excited to revisit old spots and see what I've missed

      Yes, was fortunate to get one that early! She said I had one of the first factory units in the USA. I do like the 2D screen and find it very helpful, another powerful and useful tool in the tool box! I like the vibrating handle too. Between the tones, the 2D and the handle, lots of very helpful information about the target. I will ask and find out about sizing in a future update. • @DigemDeep
      @DigemDeep Рік тому +1

      @@waynep2123 That’s interesting. I have an Explorer II too. Two years ago, I was outperforming my detecting buddy who had a Garrett AT pro by about 3 to 1. He went and got an Equinox 600 last year and out performed me by about 6 to 1. I’m going to get a Manticore when my dealer gets them in stock. I did get a Nokta Anfibio Multi last year, but I just couldn’t figure it out. It goes really deep, but I just couldn’t get through the iron. 90% of the Anfbio targets were either iron or pull tabs and I couldn’t distinguish between good targets so I just wasted my time digging mostly junk.

      It surprised me often with its depth on the smallest of items ..
      And on the wet salt sand too, just really deep man ,
      The tones of the expl 2 are just so smooth , perfect .
      If minelab made that machine over , and put it on a straigh shaft wthout changing anything except making it a tad faster in recovery …

    If I haven't heard that being said before. Oh this detector is so great. I don't know how we previously missed that target. There has been a lot of different detectors here before. This place has previously been ponded to death. I call BS!!! It's never hunted out. you're just not finding it.
    My buddy and I have been hitting a tough old baseball field on and off for two years. it's a huge field. Every type of trash and iron has been dug out of that place YOU NAME IT!. Previously detected by many detectorist for many of years. Yet we keep finding silver coins and other neat relics here and there. Its hit or miss using the same detectors every hunt there. You guys crack me up with XYZ detector isn't good enough now, obsolete, ZYX misses so many good targets. because there's a newer model out now. It was the best detector 2 months ago before the NEW XYZ hit the street. You can have the very best latest and greatest tech in your hand but if your mind, eyes, and ears are not working together that day. Guess what? you're going to miss targets every single time you go out detecting then find them on another. will I buy the new xyz detector yes. Will I be impressed with its technology maybe. Is it the reason I've missed several targets that my detecting partner found that I just walked over? NO!

    How can the iron at 4:30 give such a good and high VDI reading, wish you would have dug that just for seeing what it is.

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  Рік тому +2

      One thing you will notice with this machine (VERY similar on the CTX-3030) is a delay in the signal getting to your ears on iron, as compared to the immediate audio response you get from a coin or conductive target like brass, etc. Many have already commented on my videos and others that they don't "need" the 2D screen because they can "hear" iron. This is what they mean. Can't go back in time or even remember exactly which target that was to dig it, But . . I am doing an entire video on the Manticore where all I do is dig iffy signals so we can all learn and see if something good pops out that was right above, below or next to iron. That video will come this next week. Stay tuned. Thanks for the view and question!

    I’m hoping for a software update before my Manticore arrives. To help the iron falsing issue demonstrated by CD on smaller buried iron - that I’m sure your aware of by now. Regarding the signal you had at 5:21, how can you tell that the big piece of iron isn't masking something below, or can you tell? Do you think the Manticore would tell you if there were two targets, one below the other?

    • @BrassMedic

      I don't mind the feel of the grip or arm cuff on the Manticore it is an improvement over the equinox. It's hard to compare the XP Deus to anything for comfort because it is so extremely lightweight that stress is not really as much of an issue. Thanks for the view and comment.

    I know but I that you were impressed with the 2D image, but I wasn’t. It’s early to evaluate this machine, but for $1600, I want to see something more impressive than what I’ve seen so far. I come from the CTX (untold 1,000's of hours on that machine). So I am used to glancing at the XY screen on this new Manticore machine there are 3 very useful tools at our disposal to evaluate a target. Firstly a terrific audio section that let's you really tailor it to your preferences, secondly that graph and last but not least the haptic feedback from the vibrating handle. It's kind of like saying your used to using your cell phone just to talk but it also does text, apps, etc. I see the graph as an important and useful feature. I don't have a grasp on any of it yet as I have only had it out 4 times and all in one mode. I can't give any kind of opinion yet except to say that I feel like it is worth the $1,599 price tag in both build quality and features, hoping in orlerformance too. But yes I am impressed with that graph and was on the CTX as well. The Deus has a similar XY feature as well. I ubde stand it's not for everyone. After a very short while I never even had to look at my screen on my CTX because I felt like I was hearing in 3D! Thanks for the view and comment!

I have two buddies who have thousands of hours on the XP Deus II and they both already jumped ship! The fast mode and high conductor mode are what they like and both mentioned that it swings better, more comfortable than the Deus II as well. One wished he had a 9" coil for the Manticore but I already prefer the Manticore, the real test is when they go head-to-head and I will do that video on Sunday! Thanks for the view and comment!

  • @dirt_tones
    @dirt_tones Рік тому +7

    It's so funny how every video of this machine I keep hearing on that's a good tone then refer to the 2D. Why again do you need a screen to tell you what you are hearing. No screen will substitute my ear especially when it's such a good tone already.

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  Рік тому +5

      An OG statement, I can appreciate that and totally know what you mean. However we now have the ability to hit 3 of our senses with the detector as we hear the tones, see the graph and feel the handle. Together these are features add to connectivity to the items in the soil. All of us veterans on here who put the hours in will agree with you but this machine could be the first step in a whole new direction in that we can see shapes. Maybe nothing you care about yet but I do see the value of that 2D graph and coming from the CTX and Deus II I have already been looking at XY plots for a while now.

I have many more outings with the machine this next week where I will get a better feel for it's capabilities as I go head-to-head with the Equinox 800, CTX-3030, XP Deus II and the Makro Legend!

      Sorry it's just so early for me in particular to weigh in heavily with an opinion after only 4 outings. One thing I do feel comfortable saying right now is it's worth every penny of its $1,599 price tag as far as build quality features and the performance I've seen so far. I don't feel like I overpaid at all for what I got. There's so many good machines out there I need to do some head-to-head testing on targets, I hope to be able to do this soon and make a video of it when I do. Thank you for the view and comment!

    Not another video with sensitivity very low (why) its range is 0/35 so its been run at just over 60% of its range why is no one running it higher.🤔

      I have been wondering that myself buddy. Even on a clean beach I've only seen it at 23 max.

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  Рік тому +3

      I worked on a video earlier today where I ran the sensitivity up to 30 and compared it to 22 and then to 24. Will get this footage up asap. But I can tell you that in the heavy iron with sensitivity at 30-35 this thing is an screaming banshee, a whole lot of tonal information coming in to the point of where it would overwhelm folks or at the very least cause ear fatigue. 30 was about as far as I dared to take it in the heavy iron. At a park or the beach, a whole different story! After a few hours of trial and error I chose to run it at 24. I compared a few deep signals heard at 30 to see if still detected at 24 and they were still detectable. Another issue with high sensitivity is you lose your gain or depth audio that you can clearly hear at 24. Depth audio or gain is not for everyone but I have always found it useful in parks to listen for deep coins (hoping for silver).

      @@BrassMedic So this so called 50% more power is only about 10% more power if sensitivity is only able to be run at 65% of its range.. I can run my Equinox at 24/25 at any site, so thats over 95% of its range so there is going to very little to gain by upgrading to the manticore so its not for me..

      @@paulmartin3946 Yes its not going to be a big step up over the equinox 800 to be honest, and if you have the 15/12 coil on the nox its going to be deeper than the manticore if it can not be run with high sensitivity to gain max depth..
