@@theguitaristas it's hard to tell from the video, but I'm pretty sure that is blonde white. Any pink tint is almost certainly due to the pine rather than the finish. Once applied, a lot of wood makes finish appear to change color. Personally, I think that the color is fine, but the weight alone is definitely enough to warrant sending it back.
I have the strat as well. Came much more pink than I was expecting but i liked it as soon as I saw it actually. It’s a bit heavy for my taste though at 8 lbs 8 ozs but it’s manageable
That had me googling particularly esquires looking for an original pine one picture wise. Think it’s fair to say some pine does have a reddish hue so it might just be a case of producing to cost if one is more expensive than the other
A few months ago I went into a guitar store near me and they had Classic Vibe 50s Telecaster and Esquire, both butterscotch. I tried them both extensively in the store and went back and forth a bunch of times to compare the two. I wound up buying the Esquire and I absolutely love it. I can't remember noticing a weight difference but I felt like the Esquire had a twangier sound, and I didn't really miss not having the neck pickup. It just felt better overall for some reason. Very happy with my decision. Plays and sounds like a much more expensive guitar. If you see one around, grab it!
I have the same model in TV Yellow or butterscotch blonde I think they call it. I love it. The pickups are great, fret work impeccable. Only negative is the weight, which came as a surprise to be honest, but pine body to capture that early 50's Tele vibe so to be expected I guess. Honesty one of my favorite guitars in my collection.
I have the CV 50s in white with a black guard. The color appears to be a pearl essence white. I dropped in a Seymour Duncan quarter pound tele bridge pickup, and a Gibson p-90 in the neck. New Emerson wiring, and pots. As Is my regular custom I put in a 4 way switch. Mine came with a bone nut. I didn’t care for the steel barrel saddles, and replaced them with large brass ones. Locking tuners completed the build. It’s now one of my favorite telecasters.
I had the Squire Classic Vibe 50’s Tele in Butterscotch Blonde, and it was more of a white than Butterscotch Blonde. Sold it to upgrade to a Squire Classic Vibe 60’s Strat in Lake Placid Blue. Loving that Strat, and looks gorgeous.
Have just discovered your channel. I'm loving it. No BS, just straight talk and the guitar playing is next level on all these so called you tubers. Keep it up
If you are not happy, send it back. I have a 90’s pinkish tele. Love it. I’d buy another. Somehow the color’s change the approach. Anyway, cool channel!
Funnily I’ve just returned my classic vibe 50s telecaster to Amazon !!!!! 8.9 Lbs buzzed like hell it needed a real looking at in many ways high frets ect. I didn’t need it in my life.
Definitely did the right thing, my opinion. It's not what you wanted or ordered. Holding them accountable is how to get them to tighten up. I have owned several different Squier guitars including 5 variations of the Classic Vibe Series. I really hate it that Squier discontinued their Standard Strat and Telecaster. Way better guitars in my personal experience. At this time I own a 2000 model Squier Standard Stratocaster and its full scale and full size body. It's better than a few of my old MIM Fender Stratocasters. Just my 2 bits...thank you so much for your very enjoyable channel and I'm so glad I found it. Steve O in Florida
@@Ronno4691 I appreciate you commenting on your experience with the Standard Squier guitars. They don't get near the credit they should. I'm working on my 2000 Squier Standard Strat right now doing a few upgrades. Take care
@@stevepotter7448 They make for great modding platforms; all mine have upgraded pups, electrics, tuners and they look, sound and play like premium instruments now (c/o my hotshot guitar tech buddy). Thing is, the Squier Std. basses are now becoming collectible, with prices on eBay going up massively compared to the likes of Affinity basses (although not as costly as Classic Vibes. Yet...!). Fantastic guitars. A little TLC and some smart upgrades and you've got an instrument that punches WAY above its weight. My Candy Apple Red Standard Telecaster w/Alegree 5+2 Pickups is a TONE MONSTER. Greetings from Bonny Scotland!
weighted my 2008 classic vibe tele and while being painted in a proper white it also weights about 20% less with its 3.8kg (around 8.3lb) which still is somewhat heavy compared to my other guitars
I've got the CV Custom 60's Telecaster (Older Chinese built model). That thing has been rock solid since I got it 11-12 years ago. After years of non stop use I think I made 1 minor neck adjustment a year or so ago otherwise it was perfect right out of the box. Wonderful guitar.
I have nothing to say about the performance of the guitar. because playing so good. I also bought one 50's vibe white blonde. It is made in China in 2020 and the body is not in pieces, it is like a single piece, especially the texture of the tree from the back body is a single piece. There is no clear joining line anywhere on the guitar. Regarding the color, I can say that it is ivory cream, maybe a little bit light pink. But I am very pleased with its tone. This color is a translucent white underwood tone result.
I have the exact color on a Squier Precision Bass 51. The white blonde is just like that: a see through color, not perfectly white but shifting to a faded pinky white.
Have myself a 2020 CV 50's strat in white blonde also and definately very pink. Personally I like that off white looking colour but each to their own. Weight is 8.5lb. Quality guitars for the money and tone but I would note to anyone else thinking of purchasing one that I got an Indonesian one and the fretwork was poor. Three dented frets, sharp edges and one popping up. They also have a very unusual 4 letter serial number ISSJ, my assumption Is Indonesian samick and J being the 10th letter / month of production for those wondering. Side note: love the channel!
Mine is exactly the same. It def looked whiter in the pics. It's kind white in some light and pink in others. I was initially disappointed, but now I love it.
@@theguitaristas tbh I was underwhelmed with the pickups. I've heavily modified it. Bareknuckle flat 50 set, wilkinson compensated bridge, obsidian wire 4 way kit and Gotoh nickel tuners and control plate. Now it's an absolute beast =)
I just purchased one of the CV 50's in Vintage Blonde. It is second hand buti I got lucky and its definitely white not pink ! Haven't weighed it yet but it's probably around 8-9 pounds. Yeah a Lil heavy but the playability and sound you get from those Alnico 3 pickups is totally worth it ! I'd love a few vintage guitars but the CV series Squiers are probably as close as I'll get. Great videos !!
I have one and it was a very Platinum Blonde at first and after a few months the pink came out and I was very disappointed because it sounded and played so good like really good. I brought it to a local luthier here in NYC and he told me possibly because of the pine the translucent color isn't looking as I expected, he said pine comes in a lot of shades and eventually turns a light shade almost a pale grey say like a fence does over time. Anyway I have it a couple of years now and it did change to a nicely faded wood tone and the finish is now out standing as they really put that platinum streak on it like they did in the past. so it's a keeper, did I say it sounds and feels great. Thanks for all the fun shows. btw we have very similar taste in guitars style wise and price.
I built a John Entwistle tribute 66 slab body style P bass - sprayed it white blonde and it came out with a pink hue - its the wood showing through the translucent finish,
I’ve bought and then eventually sold on three Squier CV ‘50s Teles. The all sounded good to my ears, but the necks all felt like I was holding plastic in my hand, and each one weighed 10+ pounds. My Polar White MIM Player Series Telecaster, on the other hand, feels great, looks great, sounds great, and weighs much less than 10 lbs!
Squier Classic Vibe '50s Telecaster - White Blonde. like the butterscotch blonde, the paint is translucent so wood grain is slightly visible so that varies the color. some look more pink than others, just like butterscotch blondes vary in color.
CV 50's Tele butterscotch here. Weighs less than 8lbs.. Wood pieces are matched and look good. Made by Samick Indonesia. It had some stuff wrong with it but Fender was more than great about it going above and beyond to fix things. I love Fender and will always be a fan. I love Squier too and think they make great guitars as well. It's the same everywhere you go; sometimes stuff happens. Everybody plays the wrong note once in a while. It's just the way things are. Cheers!
Thanks for the heads up about weight and color. Fortunately, here in the US we have an online store that shows specific guitars with pics and weights, so you can s read out the outliers. Keep up the great work. Always enjoy your vids.
I have this now & used to own an earlier chinese made one. These newer ones are definitly more pink. The earlier Chinese one was actually white, it aolso had the 50s correct logo position, correct pickguard screw holes & brass saddles. I Can't understand why the newer Indonisian ones have made all these changes.
I've had my hands on a 2017 classic vibe tele in butterscotch and it was a thing of beauty. It had a quarter sawn flame maple neck and sounded really hot. Squiers do have inconsistencies with their colors though. I specifically do not like the pickguard! A good custom shop relic white blond (see through) 50s tele is not perfectly white either, nor is it pink! and makes for the best looking finish on a telecaster imho.
Fuck the review…the playing is absolutely amazing…no bollocks I’d pay to hear that at a live gig …I saw a lot of big and small bands in the 70S and I love❤ your style
This is why I went with the butterscotch over this white/pink. All the newer made in Indonesia white ones I’ve seen are this colour but some are more pinker than others. They got the butterscotch right but it definitely is a heavy guitar
Looks like Mary Kaye White. I think it looks great with the black guard. But I agree...if the wood isn't matching well and weighs 10 pounds to boot, def a no go.
Sorry that happened to you. I bought a butterscotch one that I bought several years ago. It sounds great, plays great, and isn't too heavy. I got mine on sale for $399 U.S. Recently, rather than pay $3500 US for a custom tele, I bought the Squier version, put noiseless Fender tele pickups in it, put on locking tuners, and brass saddles. I also added a push pull to kick the pups out of phase in the middle position. Total cost = $750 vs. $3500 US
The colour of the pine is likely showing through the transparent off-white paint job making it look pinkish. I’m not digging pine as a body wood either. The cv 60s is very beautiful, check that out!
I bought the same one as my first electric guitar, and I love the slight pinkishness, the weight and the transparency of the finish (I love how the 3 "poorly matched" pieces of wood create a few dark stripes). What I love most though is the neck, the colour and feeling of it is really awesome, and the sound and factory setup leave nothing to be complained about for me.
Mine has 3 poorly matched pieces of pine as well LMAO. You know soon we will look back and wish guitar bodies were still made from wood. Its just a decade or so away imho.
I got one of these, It's exactly what I expected, I saw actual pics. of it before I bought it , 7lbs 9oz. I even had to do some tweaks, (which I love to do). So ,to each his own
I have a 2015 CV 50s, in butterscotch blonde, pine body. It’s super heavy but other than that it’s nice. I got it used, and put a Fender’51 U shape neck on it. Now it’s great but heavy. But I still like it. The white blondes I saw a few years ago were not pink like this one.
I think you'd like to avoid Harley Benton TE-52 NA Vintage Series as well. I bought my 'tele' about one year ago, here are some details: - Canadian mapple neck - American ash body - weight: 9.7 lbs (4.4 kg). Btw: your channel is the one I was looking for. Great job!
Got two...Pine in butterscotch...back breaker....Ash in Danish Pete purple...nice weight. Both have brass saddles and upgraded pups. LOVE THEM. While they don't 'feel' as nice as a USA Tele...they sound better to me with Fralin or Lollars.
I really like the sounds coming from your not really affordable telecaster, a verv classic very beautiful sound. But then that was the reason for getting the squire. I just dig the sound of your telecaster
i have a classic vibe 50 from 2008... it has a nice white finish. looks really nice and seems to have slightly yellowed over the years. if at all there is a hint of minty green in that white. it is kind of heavy but more in normal les paul territory. havent actually weighted it, but i would guess it around a weight of 4kg. feels a little heavy compared to a strat but no big deal and certainly no 10 pound deal
the paint coat isn't thick enough, limited coats. the yellow/reddish hue of the wood is mixing with the thin white coat making them look "pink". they prolly looked white when sprayed but some of the coat got sucked up by the wood, that is why you can see the grain.
These Indonesian made CV 50s Teles are often more that pinkish hue. The earlier Chinese made ones from the 2010s are a vintage blonde colour. Not white, but a yellowed aged white (and not pink).
I got the butterscotch version and I'm happy with the color. It is on the heavy side but not 10lbs! Although I haven't had a chance to really dial it in and play it yet, it seems to have a darker tone than I expected that's compared to my American Performer Stratocaster. So a pickup change may be in it's future.
Around Xmas 2020 I sent back two that exact same ugly pinkish color, a 50's Tele and 60's Strat, both classic vibes. They were both made in China but Fender was advertising them as coming from Indonesia. I ordered them directly from Fender's website. The Tele was horrible in just about every way imaginable & the Strat looked ok but had a non-functioning truss rod. I also sent back a Fender Classic Player 60's Strat earlier in that same year because of terrible build quality. If I recall correctly though, the classic vibe tele was quite a featherweight. On the other hand, I've just now picked up a very nice & really cheap on eBay 2021 Squier Bullet hardtail Strat in a (nice to me) Tropical Turquoise with a mostly flamed, dark fingerboard neck that I intend to heavily modify. The build quality, fit & finish etc. on it is exceptional!
Wow! I'm really pleased I stayed for the jam. That 70's Tele sounds fantastic and some really great playing. I'm sorry we couldn't hear the Classic Vibe to compare sounds. I have one of the butterscotch models which sounds great and plays well, but has mismatched wood in the body, so not perfect.
I have a 2009 squier classic vibe and it was vintage white/cream coloured 10 years ago. Now it’s sort of turned a darker cream like an off yellow white doesn’t actually look as good. The older ones definitely were white in colour. I saw a newer one and it was totally different. I would send it back too
Interestingly enough there are approx. 150 shades of "White". I think it just has pink overtones cause the pink squires are really quite pink ! Definitely too heavy...but that's cause it's Pine.
I purchased a 50s squire precision bass in white blond and they are pink when you look at them, I also had a squire 70s in vintage blond and that looks like advacado green 😀
@@theguitaristas yes it was a 70s style vintage modified strat I was also surprises it looked cream in the photos but it was green. same as yours looked white when you got it, it was pink 😁😆
I had initially wanted the "white" one but photos on Sweetwater scared me off. It didn't look right and I kept thinking maybe it is the photos? Still, I began to reconsider the appeal of the classic butterscotch and went with that. I'm glad I did as this confirms my worst fears about the other color choice. White that is not in any way. I am very happy with my Classic Vibe Tele although in my case the tuners were awful unfortunately so I replaced them hipshot Grip-lock tuners and I am quite happy with that upgrade. Otherwise, the other unfortunate thing in my case was the setup was so bad the guitar was literally unplayable out of the box. It wasn't the end of the world and I wanted 10's on it anyway so I just took care of that and now it's a great guitar that fit my limited budget. I like it very much. Great playing for the ending by the way. Be glad I will pay more attention now else I would be leaving you a book here. 😃
Be fair, that’s probably not a bad price for 10lb of salmon ;-) Not in white nor as affordable, but my recent search for a t shaped object saw me eventually wind up with a vintera road worn 50s that I’m really happy with. Minor snags (nut wanting a little more tlc) and the finish relic (bit stark and to template but a bit of time playing hard and putting back wet should solve) aside I can’t fault it. The worn neck especially makes it feel great to play. Could be an interesting one for you to review or compare against other Fender/Squier for where it sits price wise and is trying to offer
I got a Squier “butterscotch” that had the same opaque finish… and I sent it back. Then I got a shell pink Squier Cyclone and it was gorgeous. Like your white Tele, it has a “solid” pink finish, like the “solid” sea foam green on my Squier Jaguar.
Over the years staining or painting process changes in factories or they change factories so stuff like this happens a few times. The original picture is probably 10+ years old. I got a classic player sonic blue strat. Picture was straight blue. My guitar showed up mint green lol. I kept it though
I bought a CV 50's Strat and also had to send it back because of how heavy it was. ~10 lbs. Pine body. Too bad, because otherwise was a great instrument.
I have an American Performer Tele in Vintage White and it is more Buttercream (but that was clear in the photos to be fair). I bought a Deluxe Nashville Tele (which was damaged and returned) a couple of years ago, described as white blonde and it is was translucent off white. I was hoping for something close to the blonde colour of Telescope in the early/mid 70s but nowhere near. Player series has what looks like a true white. Great videos, thank you; keep up the good work.
I bought a butterscotch blonde. It was a beautiful, well built and great sounding guitar but it was, as you called it, a real back breaker. Mine weighed 9.8 pounds. It sat in my guitar rack and didn't get played much. I just didn't enjoy picking the thing up. Got rid of it.
I have a couple of US made fender guitars including a Clapton signature strat and a 52 reissue Tele. I played a squier cabronita Tele the other day. It was excellent. Build quality was excellent. Sound was excellent. It’s about a 4-5 times the price of a US made Tele. Very impressive. It’s as good as any of my US made guitars to play.
@@damagecontrol60 yes that’s correct. And an update to that.. I bought a Squier Contemporary Jaguar.... it’s phenomenal. Build quality outstanding. Sound outstanding. Meanwhile the limited edition player series Mexican made strat I was considering was pretty poor quality. A bend on the second fret would pull strings out of the nut....
I agree with you on all fronts here brother Especially on the weight My main strat is 6 lb 11oz and main LP is 8.4 lbs Heavy guitar's usually sound pretty good but my shoulder can't deal I'm thinking manufacturer mistake and just have to get em out there Can't trash all that stock
Cheers Paul, I think maybe also we’re a bit spoilt by all the excellent affordable guitars out there and this one fell short of normal high standards. Only £349 but the crap colour and boat anchor weight just not for me! 😂🎸👍
I am also looking at a Squier Classic Vibe '50s Telecaster in butterscotch blonde and this popped up on my YT feed. The ones I saw were all around 9 lbs 3-6 oz.
It amazes me how when someone points something out to you, you start noticing it everywhere! I've been thinking on buying a Telecaster for some time, but I wasn't sure it was the guitar for me, so, I started looking at some video reviews of this exact model. When I saw this video I thought "well, this guy got a dud, I've seen this guitar many times on videos, and it is transparent white, not pink" After watching this video, I went back to see the other video reviews I've found of this guitar, and now THEY ARE ALL PINK! I still like the guitar, tho, I don't mind the "pinkish" color at all, but it is funny how I never noticed it until this video. I would have loved a proper review of the guitar sound and quality despite the color, but I understand you were planning to sending it back and there was no point in taking it apart.
I’m 32 right now and when I was younger guitar weight didn’t matter at all to me. I had an RG with a mahogany body that probably weighed close to 10 pounds but, those days for me are gone lol. Guitar weight is extremely important to me now, because I find myself getting fatigued from long sessions with heavier guitars.
Was interested in acquiring a CV '60's Custom Tele... However, waited too long... They changed manufacturers and specs. Been kicking my own behind since. The prices for the M.I.C. are ridiculous now. Live and learn eh...? Thanks for an interesting video as usual 😎👍❤🖖 Love brother
I picked up a used, BSB CV Tele a few years ago. I was actually a bit concerned when I found out it was made in China, but it plays great, sounds great, and looks great. It only weighs 8.1 ounces. I guess I got lucky.
As soon as you said there was something wrong, I guessed you got one of those see through white colors. I could see how you would be disappointed when you're thinking you're getting a white guitar, but I think they look cool. They definitely aren't a color I'd choose for myself, but I think they look nifty.
After 5 strokes and being close to 70 years old, weight is a great factor on my 2 Teles! Befor the days of "what a value"! most of my Teles were just "old guitars" So my 1967 Tele Custom wasn't that much of a loss, when it left me.
I FINALLY sold my ridiculously heavy 10lbs Harley Benton TE53-KR Keith Richards Tribute Tele. 7lbs my limit. My Squier FSR Custom Classic Vibe Baritone Tele is only 7.2lbs. If I cannot actually see it before buying it, then I usually shop at Sweetwater where if there is more than one in stock, they list the weight....thankfully. Weight, is why I don't play Les Pauls.
Many years ago I had a mid '70s Tele and the body shape drove me crazy with that top bout coming down one fret closer to the nut. Hahahahaha......I'm so shallow :-) I get why people love Squier Classic Vibes and I love my Esquire but I think one of the areas where Squier fall short of Fender is consistency. When they're great they're great but thay can be heavy and see through finishes can be hit and miss. That Squier you're sending back is over 1lb heavier than my 2005 Les Paul Standard. I don't blame you. I couldn't live with it.
Thanks for confirming that... I am beginning to doubt myself some folk seem to think its perfectly normal to order a 'white blond' guitar and receive a pink one! 😂👍🎸
The colour and the weight would not have bothered me. But I can tell by pickguard mounted neck pickup that it is one of the newer Indonesian made ones, which don’t stand up compared to the China ones. Mine is a made in China from late 2018. The China ones have the proper 50s style body mounted neck pups (with the adjustment screws beneath the pickguard), and more importantly, they have the brass bridge saddles and full size control pots. They definitely started cutting corners on the Indonesian ones a bit.
Interesting, I have one on these Telecasters, never thought it looked pink until I saw this video! Now I can see a pink tinge to it although not as much as yours. It doesn't bother me at all, certainly agree about the weight though!
Bummer on the CV '50s. My CV '60's comes in at 7.6 pounds, but I've heard the CV series can come in anywhere from 7 to 10 pounds. Oh well, too bad....but they sounds great and have excellent necks.
I just bought the butterscotch but played the white one. It's not pink but not exactly white either. My butterscotch is a bit over 8lbs. That's a big difference from 10. Mine looks to be a 2 piece body.
I bought a stratocaster, classic vibe 50's, in the same color and it's pink. IT'S THE MOST MISLEADING COLOR NAME, it should be called Rose Wine. However, I kept it because it's a good guitar for the money. Anyway, I haven't really created any attachment to it. Mostly due to the color. Probably I will get rid of it easily in the future. They should just have one in arctic white and forget about the blonde white.
just purchased a CV 50s butterscotch coloured, one of the best guitars I´ve ever played, speaking of course in its Tele category. Quite a few "details" to watch for though, like the Alnico pickups which require EQ, because they are crystal clear sounding and some people want some native distortion or colour and these pickups are powerful yet pristine. The guitar begs being played, or tamed perhaps, until it starts to show its character. Lots of sustain, thanks to a wonderful neck, the best, coupled to a massive body. I sincerely hope it ages well. I´ve purchased a sturdy hard case for her. A Tele, what else?
For grins, I checked out a Squier CV Strat in this same color on the Sweetwater website, and even in the picture, it was pretty clearly this color. I feel your pain, though. Your vintage Tele is a serious beauty!
For what it's worth, I believe all "white blonde" 50s teles do have that slightly see-through, slightly pink-hue white color. If I google "fender white blonde" it shows me a bunch of (more expensive) fender strats finished in that strange color. I do agree Olympic or Alpine White look way better. And it's known that classic vibe teles are chunkers. So I don't think that guitar is an outlier, that's just how they are. Maybe you could get around it by getting a Classic Vibe 60s Custom Tele?
I know what you mean, but I think 'slightly' is the key and this was just badly done and doesn't work. I shall make it my mission to find a white one... Cheers!!
Hi Colin, you are the working mans guitar troubadour. Not sure about that meaning it just sounded good, but I love your channel and all the content. I have two telecasters one is a California Fat 90’s and the other is a CV Butterscotch. The Fender California I’m gonna say has low output pickups, with a humbucker in the neck. To me it’s a very good clean sound guitar but handles high gain really well. The CV has the Tele twang for days, but sometimes I have to flatten the tone a little. No pickup changes on either, only bridges on both. The CV has the best wood I’ve seen on a low cost guitar. It has beautiful figuring on the two piece matched pine and the neck is flamed one end to the other, just got lucky on it I guess. My other Squier is a all black vintage modified that I absolutely love, I gave 175 bucks for it. All in all I’ve been very happy with my Squier experience🍻
Hey Steve, that sounds good to me... thanks for kind words! 😄👍 some nice tele’s you have there, and I remember those vintage modified’s (I had a white one once) punch way above their weigh. Nice one man! 😎🎸👍

It's actually a faded vintage pink. Looks amazing
given that pine oftentimes has a reddish hue to it, i’m not sure i’m surprised that a white translucent finish males it look pink-ish
Yes that makes sense it’s the tint underneath coming through I guess... maybe should be described as White pink? 😎🎸👍
That had me googling particularly esquires looking for an original pine one picture wise. Think it’s fair to say some pine does have a reddish hue so it might just be a case of producing to cost if one is more expensive than the other

@@theguitaristas cheers and thanks again
Seconded on the Squier Std. Strats/Teles/Jazz/Precisions :-)
Cheers Jelly thanks for comment and info! 😎🎸👍
Mine is exactly the same. It def looked whiter in the pics. It's kind white in some light and pink in others. I was initially disappointed, but now I love it.
Cheers Andrew, I don’t doubt it plays and sounds awesome… Just a bit too pink for my liking 😆👍
I have a Classic Vibe Tele that I bought used. I love it, It’s butterscotch blonde and it weight 8.1 pounds.
😎👍
got the same one and i loved the pinkish hue so i was happy .....but as i saw it online and went to my store i was happy. mine was just over 8 pounds
What a fantastic video I cut my thumb when I was washing the dishes have a wonderful day
I built a John Entwistle tribute 66 slab body style P bass - sprayed it white blonde and it came out with a pink hue - its the wood showing through the translucent finish,
Are you certain they mixed the paint right? 😆👍
Yes they all seem to be a bit on the heavy side unfortunately which is a deal breaker for me 🤷♂️
That solo made my day!😎
Squier Classic Vibe '50s Telecaster - White Blonde. like the butterscotch blonde, the paint is translucent so wood grain is slightly visible so that varies the color. some look more pink than others, just like butterscotch blondes vary in color.
I wanted white
@@theguitaristas i understand it is not the guitar for you. One of the downsides to ordering online. check out how varied they are at sweetwater.
That play- out jam Killed, So good
Thanks Daniel that’s appreciated! 😎🎸👍
😊👍cheers man that’s appreciated! 🙏
Opaque means the opposite of see-through.... the pine has a lot of natural colour. That's why it looks pink.
Same finish as the Mary Kay Fenders. With out the gold hardware. It's actually one of my favorite Fender finishes.
Cheers Ryan, I wasn't keen... a bit too pink for my liking 😀
$3500 US
Nice one! That was kind of my plan for a white one but still searching 🤷♂️
@@theguitaristas The best of luck!
Cheers Nils, glad you bonded with yours I have no doubt they play great! 😎👍
So ,to each his own
8lb works I would have kept that 👍
I have a 2015 CV 50s, in butterscotch blonde, pine body.
I bought my 'tele' about one year ago, here are some details:
- Canadian mapple neck
- American ash body
- weight: 9.7 lbs (4.4 kg).
Btw: your channel is the one I was looking for. Great job!
Cheers man!
Got two...Pine in butterscotch...back breaker....Ash in Danish Pete purple...nice weight. Both have brass saddles and upgraded pups. LOVE THEM. While they don't 'feel' as nice as a USA Tele...they sound better to me with Fralin or Lollars.
Some excellent playing at the end young man. I liked it very much!
Cheers. 😊😎🎸
Cheers Steve! 😎👍
I really like the sounds coming from your not really affordable telecaster, a verv classic very beautiful sound. But then that was the reason for getting the squire. I just dig the sound of your telecaster
I just got a butterscotch CV Tele. I love the heavy weight.
i have a classic vibe 50 from 2008... it has a nice white finish. looks really nice and seems to have slightly yellowed over the years. if at all there is a hint of minty green in that white.
it is kind of heavy but more in normal les paul territory. havent actually weighted it, but i would guess it around a weight of 4kg. feels a little heavy compared to a strat but no big deal and certainly no 10 pound deal
the paint coat isn't thick enough, limited coats. the yellow/reddish hue of the wood is mixing with the thin white coat making them look "pink". they prolly looked white when sprayed but some of the coat got sucked up by the wood, that is why you can see the grain.
..thats why you just have to try and see and hold the instrument before you buy...I would be happy playing the blue esquire for ever.
👍 yes the blue esquire is a thing of beauty!
These Indonesian made CV 50s Teles are often more that pinkish hue. The earlier Chinese made ones from the 2010s are a vintage blonde colour. Not white, but a yellowed aged white (and not pink).
Damn, I really enjoy your playing. It’s mesmerizing.
😊🙏
I got the butterscotch version and I'm happy with the color. It is on the heavy side but not 10lbs! Although I haven't had a chance to really dial it in and play it yet, it seems to have a darker tone than I expected that's compared to my American Performer Stratocaster. So a pickup change may be in it's future.
10:32 Man you cracked me up with that bodybuilder comment! 😂 Love your channel (and your sense of humour 😁).
Vintage Blond that looks avocado green??... 🤯 😂
@@theguitaristas yes it was a 70s style vintage modified strat I was also surprises it looked cream in the photos but it was green. same as yours looked white when you got it, it was pink 😁😆
@Colin Cheers Col... yes mine was pink!! 🤣👍
Cheers Michael! 😁👍
Be fair, that’s probably not a bad price for 10lb of salmon ;-)
Not in white nor as affordable, but my recent search for a t shaped object saw me eventually wind up with a vintera road worn 50s that I’m really happy with.
Cheers Lee 😆... in fact I did have an idea that I might get the vintera next to compare with classic vibe... currently that plan is on hold! 😎🎸👍
They are ALL very much pink under most lighting. I sort of like it, oddly.
I got a Squier “butterscotch” that had the same opaque finish… and I sent it back. Then I got a shell pink Squier Cyclone and it was gorgeous. Like your white Tele, it has a “solid” pink finish, like the “solid” sea foam green on my Squier Jaguar.
Thanks for comment... at least with shell pink you’d know what colour to expect! 😂👍
Over the years staining or painting process changes in factories or they change factories so stuff like this happens a few times.
The original picture is probably 10+ years old.
I got a classic player sonic blue strat. Picture was straight blue. My guitar showed up mint green lol. I kept it though
Cheers Edgar, that makes sense... mint green sounds quite pleasant but I couldn't deal with this weird pink colour! :)
@@theguitaristas nah I wouldn’t have dealt with that either.
Great video regardless!
Funny thing is that’s exactly the color I was hoping it would be.
I bought a CV 50's Strat and also had to send it back because of how heavy it was. ~10 lbs. Pine body. Too bad, because otherwise was a great instrument.
I had one the same colour and was also a boat anchor...and oddly the color looked even worse in low light in the evening.
I love that colour !!
😂
I have an American Performer Tele in Vintage White and it is more Buttercream (but that was clear in the photos to be fair). I bought a Deluxe Nashville Tele (which was damaged and returned) a couple of years ago, described as white blonde and it is was translucent off white. I was hoping for something close to the blonde colour of Telescope in the early/mid 70s but nowhere near. Player series has what looks like a true white. Great videos, thank you; keep up the good work.
Thanks Anthony, I’m still after an ‘affordable’ Tele in white but no luck so far the cheapest seems to be vintera which is by no means cheap! 😎👍🎸
P.s. ‘Telescope’ should have read Teles - predictive text!
@@antWales1 cheers... worked that out! 😂👍
Cheers David... affordable guitars are better than ever these days!
I think You mean 1/4 the price of an American tele
Aside from the weight, I like that. Now looking for shops flicking them off cheap :)
Worth it if you don’t mind pink 😆👍

@@CurrieNerd Good point I hadn't thought of that! :)
Cheers Joaquin! I’m still looking for another in butterscotch probably but hopefully one that doesn’t weigh 10lb… no luck so far!
I’ve got one of those, mines whiter than that , not that heavy. Plays great sounds great. Get one.
Cheers... I’m going to keep looking for one! 😎🎸👍
incredible jam. wow
Thanks for an interesting video as usual 😎👍❤🖖
Love brother
I picked up a used, BSB CV Tele a few years ago. I was actually a bit concerned when I found out it was made in China, but it plays great, sounds great, and looks great. It only weighs 8.1 ounces. I guess I got lucky.
Nice playing!!! I like his accent and he definitely has a sarcastic streak ... In a good way tho ... Very entertaining
As soon as you said there was something wrong, I guessed you got one of those see through white colors. I could see how you would be disappointed when you're thinking you're getting a white guitar, but I think they look cool. They definitely aren't a color I'd choose for myself, but I think they look nifty.
It’s not white, but I’d sure love it with a one ply white pickguard. That weight is a deal breaker for sure.
After 5 strokes and being close to 70 years old, weight is a great factor on my 2 Teles! Befor the days of "what a value"! most of my Teles were just "old guitars" So my 1967 Tele Custom wasn't that much of a loss, when it left me.
Cheers Richard, I'm a fan of SG Junior's myself... you hardly even notice wearing them! Keep on rocking man!
@@theguitaristas Mine, although not an SG, was a '61 Les Paul Jr.

Hahahahaha......I'm so shallow :-)
I get why people love Squier Classic Vibes and I love my Esquire but I think one of the areas where Squier fall short of Fender is consistency. When they're great they're great but thay can be heavy and see through finishes can be hit and miss. That Squier you're sending back is over 1lb heavier than my 2005 Les Paul Standard. I don't blame you. I couldn't live with it.
Cheers Paul... 70s teles do have that different shape, you may have noticed this one does as does my 78 custom... a good way of checking authenticity!
@@theguitaristas Indeed! It was trying to reconcile what you were playing with the title that set me off down that path :-)
I've got a 1st generation classic vibe! Brass Bridge, mine is white! I've noticed all the classic vibe stuff isn't as good as it once was! Thanks!
I wasn't keen on the colour or weight myself :)
Nice playing the colonel!!!
Interesting, I have one on these Telecasters, never thought it looked pink until I saw this video! Now I can see a pink tinge to it although not as much as yours. It doesn't bother me at all, certainly agree about the weight though!
Cheers Chris... Sounds great though! 😎👍
Cheers Jeremy, mine was pink! 😆👍
I had a Classic Vibe 50s Tele in White Blonde. Put a set of Custom Shop Texas Specials in it. I miss that guitar every day...
Cheers Matt, I really want one... just can’t get on with this colour and weight! 😎🎸👍
Cheers man, thanks for comment... we wanted white guitars didn't we!
just purchased a CV 50s butterscotch coloured, one of the best guitars I´ve ever played, speaking of course in its Tele category.
Cheers man, I will get another one soon!
