Hello and welcome! I'm Betty Franks, and I create my vision of abstract fields of flowers using acrylic paints and pencils (and other mark-making tools). I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and travel a couple of times a year to Preko, Croatia (where my parents live). I started painting in 2012 and focused on abstract art in the summer of 2015. Thanks for sharing, great interview. I like your art, and think it would be nice on fabric. Have you thought of having it printed on fabric, like for outdoor fabric, and for other things. Like what Tulia Pink does.
Thanks for listening to the interview, Susan! I have not thought about adding my art to fabric. That would entail learning a lot about the business and then determining if my art is the right fit and if it's something that makes sense for my business. When I have down time (which is next to never 😁), I like pursing other opportunities. Thank you for recommending it!
HI Betty l just love all your paintings that l have seen they are just gorgeous. I am from Australia l do abstract painting and l have learned many different techniques from you thank you. I started paint about 2022 l was forced into retirement and painting was always what l planned to do when l retired. I haven’t sold any of my paintings yet they rang from 10”x12” to 90” x60” l am so attached to them it’s crazy. Maybe my family will one day make some money out of them lol 😂. I did art class when l was in high school and loved it between 1971 to 1974 at Maclean High school nsw. I grew up on a farm. I am 65 now. Any way l just love painting abstract because l just don’t really know what it’s going to end up being lol lol 😂. Good luck and all the best with your art journey. While ever your on UTube l will support you liking your art on subscription. 🥰👍
Hi Leanne! Thanks so much for sharing that with me! I love that you're creating both large and small pieces. Yay! Keep on creating and enjoying the process. Thanks so much for supporting my videos and me on UA-cam!
Thanks to Betty for sharing the recording! Somehow I never get tired of hearing her journey. She inspires me to get back to my workspace and get excited about creating. As an online and in person veteran, of Betty’s workshops, I wholeheartedly encourage other artists to check them out. She is generous with her knowledge and share’s everything with the student. Hugs!!
Hi Cathy! You're so kind!! Thanks for listening to my story (again!) and everything else we discussed during the interview. I so appreciate your support of my art journey!
What a great interview!! Thankyou both!❤
Thanks so much for listening!
I’m so happy to have found this
Yay! Me, too! Welcome to my UA-cam channel!
Awesome
Thank you so much, Patty Ann! Glad you liked it!
Great job, Betty! It was inspiring hearing your story, hearing how you approach the business aspects, and learning a bit about Art Store Front. I'll be sharing the replay and checking out the other artists who've done these interviews. 🎉❤🎉
Thank you so much for watching and sharing with others, Carolyn!
Love this interview! I am also a "late starter" with respect to my creativity with art. No business yet.
You got this, Pat! Never too late!
Very interesting to hear your story Betty. Its nice and to hear you in a different light also. So i just turned 66 a month ago and just started painting about 2 and 1/2 yrs ago. I wish i didnt let my gift go for so many years. Also wish i started years ago when everything was cheaper). Invested so much money in watercolors, now im moving on to acrylics. Been out there investing more money on these now. Seems im out on the hunt, rather than staying home practising. Anyways im glad i found your videos. I love your style and learning from you. Thank you.
Hi Diane! You're never too young to start! 😁 I'm happy for you. Sounds like you're enjoying your new found (old) love!
I understand that this was a “marketing” focused interview, but it is still an interview of an artist, so why don’t people ask Betty what artists had an influence on her work? What artists does she love and what artistically does she aspire to achieve.
Good questions, Sherrie! I love the early movement of women of abstraction expressionism like Joan Mitchell, Helen Frankenthaler, and Elaine de Kooning (to name a few). I looked to them for inspiration to create loose marks.
As for what I artistically aspire to achieve...pretty simple. I want to create art that makes my heart soar when I see it. I want that for the viewer, too.
Thanks for asking!
So good. Thank you Betty. You're aways such a joy to listen to!
Thanks so much for your support, Ulrike! 💗

Milá Betty, ste taká krásna na tomto videu spoločne s čarovnými obtazmi. Neskutočne ste pokročila v svojej profesionalite. Ďakujem, že existujete a inšpirujete. Vaša Susy zo Slovenska.EURÓPA.❤😊❤😊
Thank you so much, Susy! You're very kind!
Vóbec nerozumiem po anglicky milá Betty. Prekladač mi všetko preložil. Ste tak ďaleko. Bolo by úžasné maľovať na látky. Ale to je inšpitrácia pre váš tím. Ste kreatívn a úžasná. Treba ešte väčšiu propagáciu vašich vecí. Napríklad Paríž. Bozkávam.❤😊❤ Susy. Slovensko. EURÓPA.
Hello from MN. Great presentation Betty. I watched the start of the live stream while closing down an art opportunity and I appreciate being able to go back to fill in the gaps. Very informative.
Glad it was helpful!
As always, I learn so much from you, Betty. This interview was extremely helpful and informative - Thank you!
So glad! Thanks for listening in, Anne!
Wonderful ❤
