      Just a comment, I immediately found it strange that I didn’t hear a pop or see your hand jerk when you made that punch. Do better, otherwise it was very impressive.

    Amazing sleight of hand. My Dad invented the Traveling Hole--this is a cool spin on it. He was recently diagnosed with ALS though, and going downhill fast, unfortunately, so these videos are hitting home. ❤ thank you

    Nice gimmick, one convincer I use is to leave one of the card cut dots in the hole punch cutter...then when you do the fake cut just turn the punch upside down and the dot will fall out so they think you just cut the card...it looks really convincing :)

      Clipping a small piece of card so you hear the noise and the clunk of the hole punch is essential, otherwise people are skeptical

    • @Prometheus__2003
      @Prometheus__2003 4 місяці тому +20

      Could actually leave the top hole out as it isn't a physical part of the gimmick. Pull down and actually punch the card "live" for the full effect. You can still reuse the gimmick, but that first use would be very convincing.

    • @malcolmstockbridge2569

      @Prometheus__2003 Boom. There we go. That's what I'm doing from.now on.
      You could even 'stick' the clipped dot back into the card....the gimmick covers it and back to square one

    Fun fact for aspiring magicians out there.
    Until about ten years ago if you wanted invisible elastic thread for performing (for levitation effects, not gimmick building like he's doing with the Prym) you bought the thread and it was wound or braided like rope. You had to strip the individual strands out yourself before you could use it.
    Why am I telling you this?
    If you own a spool of Prym, cut off about eight inches of it and then break an inch off of one end.
    _Break_ it with your hands, don't cut it. Then look at that end. It'll fray. You can separate Prym thread into strands as small as Loops or TIES. Then just run a sharpie over it to make it black and tie it in a loop.
    You'll never buy loops again.
    You're welcome.

    pretty much how i imagined it, however i would carve little "rails" into the card, so you don't have to worry about moving the gimmick part too far out. kind of like the H-type shifter on car, it can only go where rails go. you can carve them with some kind of a drill-based tool (dont know exact name) and then mount something on back of the gimmick part that slides in that rail.
    you could also use super thin magnetic tape to hold the parts together, instead of invisible wire
