      So question and HBD, is there some editing here, the trick from the start is not the same you showed how to do, in the start you do see the tear and the cut out piece, different from what you explained.

      If you practice placing the gimmicked corner when you are about to start the tear, you could let the spectator hold the card when they sign the front, then inspect the whole card. Then you attach the gimmick corner to their card as you prep the tearing illusion so they know their card wasn't a trick one. This also does away with the force.

    Thanks so much for everything you do for the magic community, man. You spread joy, happiness, and positivity, and teach young magicians like myself to not try and teach what isn't their own, and give us the skills and knowledge to continue creating our own original magic, even if a trick, I "created" has been done before, because of you, I can always try to find ways to improve it. I absolutely love what you do, and I can't wait for DEX to come out, I'm going to ask for it for my birthday! Finally, I just wanted to say that I admire, and insanely appreciate your teaching style. It's not only the most helpful teaching I've found on UA-cam, but also on magic websites. You teach what many others struggle to teach well, the small details, but also don't make it drag on for so long, you've found the perfect balance, Lloyd! Thanks, again, have a great Birthday!

    Happy birthday to you! Obvious question but why don't you just stick an intact corner on top so you can actually tear it and show it as a separate piece? You already have to palm off and ditch the gimmick so might as well just palm the the corner piece at the same time. No?

    • @ChumpyDumps
      @ChumpyDumps 2 роки тому

      Here’s my guess:
      You run the risk of tearing the whole gimmick off and it’ll be harder to fold the card as well. Plus you’re gonna be juggling folding the card, tearing, and keeping the gimmick attached and aligned. I would say maybe keep the torn off piece in your hand to show audience.

    • @grafforlok8422
      @grafforlok8422 2 роки тому

      @@ChumpyDumps as for the corner piece, you could put it into a gimmicked card box and vanish it then it appears back on the card in your hand.

    If you want to cover up a bit of damaged wall paper, the best thing to do is use a patch with a random edge because straight lines are more visible - so why not employ this effect with the gimmick card? Instead of having a right angle, why not a wavy line cut which gets lost in the pattern on the back of the card? Also, why is the torn corner from the gimmick card not shown? Hiding something which isn't actually there seems like unnecessary hard work?

    You consider taping a corner that isn’t torn? So you actually tear the corner I front of the fold. I know flash paper cards often don’t match in color or how they tear but if really tearing out a corner could switch to flash corner & then hide the restore within the flash

    Happy birthday Lloyd! Thanks for sharing!! I had a thought, when you start out with the gimmick why not start out with a full corner and do the tear for the spectator? There’s be an additional convincer that you did tear the card because you could show the piece. But the downside is you would have to ditch the piece and the corner I guess. Thoughts? I will admit though when I saw the first presentation I would’ve sworn that I actually saw the corner in your hand. When I was watching the tutorial for the presentation, I remember thinking yeah this looks fishy. Of course that’s after I knew how it was done. And that’s truly your gift and teaching, well one of them anyway. If I were smart enough to come up with a method like that, I would convince myself that it would never be convincing without seeing the torn part, when clearly it would be and did convince me! Thanks again and congrats on the 1 year! Keep coming back….

    • @claycook9475
      @claycook9475 2 роки тому

      Agreed. You are already having to get rid of the torn gimmick in the trick as it is, so it's really no additional steps to actually tear the corner off, stick the torn corner onto the sticky side of the gimmick, then dispose however.

    Happy birthday!! i hope you had a great time!! awesome idea !! i was thinking that you can ripp a little bit the hole without taking a piece just like an over rippe to sell the sound, i do it in this trick that i learned from Daniel madison where the corner of the card teleports to somewhere else, so ripping the gimmick a little bit could give it an extra ! great idea im going to add it to a routine that i have right now where bith signatures from 2 different cards jump into a single card !!

  • @GizmoTheViking
    @GizmoTheViking 5 місяців тому

    Very nice effect with this trick, although the first thing I noticed when you performed the trick before revealing it was the fact that you didn't show the torn off piece. So I expected there was no piece.
    I guess a good way to fix that is just to keep the torn off piece from the gimmick you make. Then you can even show that the torn piece match.
    Then you can restore it in multiple ways and just make sure you get rid of the gimmicked pieces.
    One good way of doing that is to put the torn piece in you mouth, then you put the corner of the card in you mouth.
    all you need to do is straighten the actual card and pull off the gimmick in one go.
    Hand spectators the card for inspection and while the do that you get the pieces out of your mouth somehow while no one is looking at you.

    If you make the gimmick a full corner, instead of pre-torn, and do the same fold back, couldn't you tear the gimmick so they actually see you tearing and see you ditch the torn off piece, which could be made form the same card in a different deck so you could even show then the 4 in the corner before ditching the torn piece?
    Or would that cause problems?

  • @ravenshade73
    @ravenshade73 5 місяців тому

    Sorry im calling bs on that technique. There's no way the trick at the start is done the same way as explained. Bending a card corner that far back would not look 100% straight when you bent it back it would show the bend line. Making a noise with your moith is just ludicrous youre basicly saying we are idiots and wouldnt notice a noise being made. I dont buy any of it.

    Happy fricking birthday!!! That’s the least we all can say ‘cause boy you have created a legendary channel! You say that commenting something funny is an advantage of winning the contest. But honestly I’m not a funny guy so instead I will give you a little thought of mine: a birthday is a magical day were you feel powerful and joyful, how come? Answer: the mind knows that this is a special day for you and you get these feelings. So what if you could trick your mind to believe that a rainy, sad day is your birthday. That would be really awesome! Ok I’m going to stop there, because I all ready sound a bit crazy…. Anyway happy birthday Lloyd! ✌️🥳
