Nicolas Cage Returns as Spider-Man Noir?

Nicolas Cage will be starring in SPIDER-MAN NOIR, returning to his popular Peter Parker variant from SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE! Does that mean it's in the same continuity? Will it be dark and serious, like a typical noir tale, or more comedic like SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE?

at this point i feel like its a pretty much unspoken rule that sony cant use any spider men in live action unless its in an mcu co-production. theres no other logical explanation i can think of for them to keep making bombs out of random characters like kraven morbius and madame web other than sheer desperation. i mean they have TWO pre-existing spider men they could bring back in their own franchises and havent

I don't think studio execs think about "continuity" like we do. I bet they cast Nicolas Cage just because of precedent and didn't spend even one second thinking about if that implies that this show is in the same universe as the spider-verse multiverse etc etc.

I think they can nail it if they go serious OR camp. Not both. Both would be the wrong call.

Yeah I'm expecting the shot down the middle and failing at both, but honestly idk which I'd want. A more jokey noir would fit better with the character we met with spiderverse and theyve shown they can handle that sort of thing fairly well, but a serious gritty noir tale with Cage, I want that so so bad.

Yeah, I guess I'm not against something closer to the Spider-Verse movies, and that makes a lot of sense in a lot of ways, but it's definitely not what I was expecting originally.
