Sal is correct re: manga. It's so much easier to dive in because all you have to do is pick up volume 1, then read until you're done. It also helps people looking to buy a book as a gift. Superhero comics that are forever renumbered and retitled over the course of decades will never be that simple. Source: work in publishing.

To simplify and maybe add a little extra to the manga conversation for folks like Roxy. One of the main things that manga has over the Big Two is that titles usually have clearly defined arcs/parts. I've been able to do a full binges of both One Piece and JJBA (over 1000 chapters each) over a two-three month period for each series. The biggest aid being that I could read an arc, take a break for a couple of days, and then read again. With the Big Two, even popular characters get shifted around halfway through a storyline because editorial deemed it so. So it's not as clear if and where you should follow when a particular story seems to have wrapped up.
I used to watch Superhero Roundup weekly. :') Only Stupid Answers really filled that void for me when SF went away!

To add onto the manga conversation. Manga is created faster and(mostly) with good quality. Getting a chapter every one to two weeks creates a routine and anticipation

The Arrowverse’s crisis on infinite earths was okay but crisis on earth X was easily the best crossover they did. Crisis on earth X isn’t just good for an arrowverse story it’s straight up great.

It won't happen but either henry cavill or alexander skarsgard would be a great Magneto in the mcu X-Men movies
I do miss some of the older just completely random episodes like the Aliens episode or the dream one. Feel like Roxy has some topics she could totally bring that would be funny to watch her bounce of DJ for an hour. Also congrats on the 400th episode, still have memories of listening to the podcast the summer of 2017 driving home from a college internship!

also crazy rawks started guesting on SF in 2016, i swear ive been watching her for 10 years, but Sf is where i first saw her (it doesnt help she hasnt visibly aged in 8 years, as the photos show the hair has just gotten lighter lol)
and as the comments show ive been thinking for a while that a sourcefed oral history podcast would probably do pretty well dj.
The pandemic was like living in the early 80s with the shadow of AIDS was looming all over for at least two decades
The closest thing I have experienced to explaining the pandemic is my 90+ year old grandmother telling me about her freinds who lived through the dust bowl and how she experienced the banks crashing during the depression. Both of those feel comparable but not the same.

Happy 400th Episode! More so than D&W, all 3 of next yr's MCU movies in Cap 4, ThunderBolts & F4 have to do well critically & financially to truly get the MCU's momentum going!
I love the show but disagree with the red hulk take. I wouldn't enjoy red hulk looking like red skull, I do think the MCU should lean into the super soldier serum effecting others differently
I’m 24 years old Roxy and I read comics on my subway to work. Every now and then I’d get the occasional weird glance at what I’m reading or a question like, “isn’t that for children, aren’t you alittle too old to be reading comics”

I don't think too many people are naive enough to truly believe that Gen Z doesn't do any ball breaking or cliquey shit when it comes to this kind of stuff, but it's certainly better compared to when we were growing up. Actually, even then I don't remember anyone being bullied for liking this stuff, at least not where I grew up. If you were a guy and liked any of the boy bands at the time, THEN people would give you shit lol. Also, I have to slightly disagree with Roxy on Man Of Steel. It wasn't Clark who was scared of his abilities being exposed, it was his dad. Clark didn't give a shit. He was always willing to risk exposing himself in order to save people, including his dad. Jonathan was the one who was paranoid about that, not Clark. However, I will agree that Clark should've saved Jonathan's life anyway instead of letting the twister get him because he signaled Clark to stay away. That was a pointless and meaningless death. I still like that movie, though. And there's nothing wrong with those Netflix Marvel shows having 13 episodes. They're not 13 hour movies, they're TV shows. The episode counts were perfectly reasonable. If it was more like 22-26, then you might have a point, but even then, the writers still could've made them all work.
