This is a programmed bot playing the games, and there are many people showcasing their bot plays within the TASA bot community, gathered here on this channel.
The major gripe with this game was that you had to double-tap the d-pad to run. Second gripe was finding the cards you need when you don't know what enemy drops it.
Of all the complaints about this game, the double-tapping is the only problem that actually bothered me. I just checked, and there's a rom hack that makes you always dash. Coincidentally enough, it just came out two weeks ago. If I ever get the itch to play CotM again, I'm definitely grabbing it.

18:49 There's something so funny about this random dude just marathon sprinting and jumping over Satan like he's a hurdle. This was my first 2D Castlevania game and honestly it's still my favorite. I loved everything about this one. And fun fact: A common complaint when it came out was it was too dark and difficult to see, a problem that was thankfully solved with the release of the Game Boy Advance SP. That rechargeable battery and back-lit screen was a pretty big deal back then 😄
Andoc I dont think its that, otherwise aria would also be trash with that logic, I think this game is very poor in many aspects, the card system really uninteresting, no other weapon other than the whip, generic in many aspects, bosses that are very boring, the list goes on. The most generic of the metroidvanias and worst in my eyes, I would rather play and 100% harmony of dissonance than this, and I fucking despise that crap. I never bothered to attempt the Underground Waterway without Cleansing. I stepped into a few rooms on the first run, and it looked too annoying to complete. I also wished I would have known about the DSS glitch a bit sooner. Now that I think about it, skipping the Underground Warehouse means skipping the best rendition of Clockwork Mansion. I'm not sure I could have done that consciously.
Ok so I thought you were totally going to drop a little down and to the right at 14:00 to get that save point heal. Man the look on my face when you went up and away and then drank a dozen potions instead, that was amazing
Damn this takes me like 4.5 hours total to complete... would be really cool if instead of save rooms, use hidden room with max HP or MP stratigically to recover
I went out of my way to get rid of every enemy on screen atleast once and it only ends up with a one level different from a TAS that only fought like 20 monsters excluding bosses by the end game

Extremely late but he is using a bug to gain access to card combinations he shouldn't have until way later into the game. The two combinations give him super speed (the blue afterglow when he moves) and the skeleton transformation. Skeleton transformation bottoms out all your attack and defense stats but gives you a 12.5% chance to throw an enormous bone that deals ridiculous damage. Because this is a Tool-Assisted Speedrun he can manipulate RNG to always give him the humongous bone to kill bosses. Hope this answers your question from one year ago!!

That's RNG manipulation for you. Normally it's supposed to only happen like 1/100 bone tosses, which normally only do 1 damage.
