Probably heard this enough times but 21 and Blue Goku and Vegeta weren't DLC, you just had to unlock them via in game achievements. You could forego those achievements by paying.
Dude, you can't be using my footage to this degree without asking, that's pretty wack man. I'm not gonna sit here and act like I deserve some kinda medal for putting text on a screen with DBFZ gameplay, but when your lifting entire sections of my videos, my titlecards and edits etc with 0 credit given onscreen, that's not fair. Or things you could of done like putting tier lists on screen, but instead just lifting the footage from my video. realistically, it's not like it would have taken that long (I would know since I did it). It's not like sourcing an article or tournament footage, if my videos were a completely dry regurgitation of information, I wouldn't really be peeved but they're definitely not just that. They are to some degree, transformative. There is at least one instance where the footage of mine being used isn't even relevant to what you're talking about, you're essentially just using it as filler footage. You should have asked, and if you did and I didn't see it (I try to read all of my comments), then you should not have used it. I'm really not the type of person to make a stink about stuff like this but I feel like the reuse in this video is really aggregious, despite it being a good video. If you had at least put credit in the video (which like, you literally did for a few clips in the beginning why not do it for the whole thing) I probably wouldn't have been irritated enough to write this at all. So yeah, don't use content from my videos without asking please.

Really glad this was made! I remember when I stopped playing, teen gohan, my lead, was solidly in mid tier. Then, like a year later, I checked back in on the community and learned that teen gohan was considered high or even top tier. Crazy how much has changed
The fact that people switched their entire teams as soon as Yasha won, despite him being beyond sick with the first team he played offline with, (I believe it was Teen Gohan/Vegito/Baseku) is disappointing. One of the biggest issues was already people playing meta or mostly a meta team. But hey, its your game, no one can tell you who to play. The game was great back then, and has come a loooong way. Forget that SF and Tekken are more recognized, popularity doesn't make a game great. Fighterz is the best modern fighting game. It must have been hard keeping this under an hour, great job.
Bro, your editing and use of DBFZ footage and match breakdowns a on the level of channels with 60k+ subs, keep at it. Subscribed, would like to see how you cover other fighting games and their competitive scenes.
Amazing write-up for most of the history of the game man! Been following the game since the beginning and you brought up mostly everything, something i would've mentioned was the use of double supers with characters like SSJ Vegeta, Cell, SSJ Goku and Tien off their own supers or supers like Kid Buu leading to some ridiculous touch of death combos or combos that killed way earlier and more meter efficient
Been watching moldybagel for a while now and I tried to get into the game when it first came out with the community but it was hard to get into. Glad you made this video.
Very cool video!! Well done!! I don’t play a lot of fighting games myself but loving watching them played by high level players. While I didn’t understand everything you said, it was really interesting listening to your breakdown of all the strategies and changes the game has gone through.
It’s good to see one of these by a guy who knows what they’re doing. A lot of people slap these together and miss core parts so it’s nice to see things with good context.
Great vid, very informative of the meta from when I was inactive in the earlier seasons and it’s such a shame that Covid continues to rob us of tournaments, thank god for the UK fellas doing that 12v12 because that was godlike. I hope S4 comes with A21 because as much as I hate online I have wayyyy too much love for this game lmao so here’s to the future of DBFZ!!!
Some things I want to note about season 2: Frame 1 assists were changed a little over halfway through season 1. Piccolo was never directly nerfed, however the system changes such as guard cancel invincibility and the post-super meter penalty being added hurt him in season 2. This allowed him to no longer infinitely loop hellzone snapbacks (although the universal fuzzy with Piccolo was discovered much sooner than you said in the video, which made that moot. You can see GO1 doing it at final round 2019). In season 3, I think you failed to detail the rise of Z Broly in the USA, and how public perception around him shifted near the end of season 2 with Dekillsage's use of him. In season 3, there have been 4 mid-season patches. The first patch, which was considered season 3.5 at the time, made major balance adjustments shortly following UI's release, such as nerfing Bardock B, and buffing Gotenks to be the monster portrayed in the video. The second was a round of nerfs after the world tour finals, where they puzzlingly didn't touch UI, changed Roshi B to have gaps in-between the hits (Which was a hidden buff since it allowed for gapless universal superdash 50/50), removed Gotenks' damage scaling bugs but kept his improved combo routes from the special cancelling, and gave some quality of life changes to other characters. The next was a patch centered around nerfs to top tiers follow the release of Super Baby, where UI finally got nerfs, Kid Buu received some minor damage scaling tweaks on his supers, and GT Goku's A assist had its startup and hitstun neutered, cementing Baby B as the premiere anti-air assist. Finally, we have the "Season 4" patch that overhauled the game's mechanics, gave almost all characters buffs, removed invulnerability from Roshi B, and nerfed Gotenks' overall damage output.
Wow this is an awesome video. I've always loved telling my friends the history of DBFZ's meta. It's just so varied and fun to discuss. It's really cool that you made a video dedicated to it.
25:00 I find air guard cancelling to be more useful with vanish guard cancel, rather then the regular one. Say for example that you are playing against a Gohan. He forces you to block in the air and then uses legs to staircase you down and use an assist to confirm into pressure. Normally, there's nothing you can do about it, but NOW you can guard cancel vanish to get out (because regular guard cancel would be risky midscreen) It even has utility on snapback situations, since some characters like to use super active moves to make sure you block when you come in. Normally, because of snapback, you'd be locked out of guard cancel, but NOW you can guard cancel vanish, which doesn't require any assist. And being able to do it in the air lets you do it during the opponents special moves, which makes it impossible to punish
This meta is easily the strongest meta. Simply cause the fusions have taken over. They make the game alot more easier to play. Where as the other broken things you've mentioned required more skill.
Hard knockdown off of 16's command grab for free mixups was still better than half the shit the Fusions can do now. 16's 5H also used to have similar armour to what Broly has now and could plow through projectiles as well as physical hits. Also this was back when you could loop level 1 supers for crazy amounts of damage off of very simple combo setups. Bardock and Goku Black with a few bard just melted your HP, it kinda made the few characters who had level 5 supers feel way less special when you could spend less bars doing Level 1's over and over to get the same damage. Hate the Fusions all you want in the current meta but they are not the most busted things the game has had.

Coach Steve always folds he shouldn't have been there he on the same pace as knowkami
Great video overall, although I wish you would have touched on how ridiculous season 1 bardock was, and how his toolkit influenced how characters released after him were made.
my god is this a good video
notably goku black was thought to be op at the start, but in hindsight we can see he was always bad and we just weren't good enough to realize it
The meta has been the dlc character + Goku + villain 😂
