It’s wonderful seeing homes created for so many people that’s all about community. Really inspiring creation. Love Terrace house. We definitely need more of this type of development. Excellent work by all concerned.😊

All the thoughts i have about the video and the project can be boiled down into one word. Inspiring. The amount of details, the tiny interactions with the space, the small yet significant attention to the little moments that makes a house a home. This is architecture, this is how it is supposed to feel and look like. you guys are just so inspiring. thank you for sharing and doing what you do. cheers.

Perhaps not intentional, but the color palette of the exterior blind also give me L′Unité d’Habitation associations 😍

What a fucking beautiful project. These architects are on the right path. Thank you both and everyone involved in the making of this gem. Loved to see the community enyoing the space.

Thanks Kev and Andrew, it’s inspiring architecture! Not just the community coming together from the start, but also AMA being generous with the common area spaces on each level, and the rooftop, I think helps build community connections. Less ego fancy-pants is great. I hope this inspires more of these developments, we need a LOT more of them. My favourite AMA building, well done!

Cool! That ep is really well explained too, making space for community I thinks it’s generous and well done here. All the nightingale projects put the laundry facilities /drying and hang-out areas on the roof, simple but effective way to bring people together. Haha, good lessons about being a developer too- never again!

I just love that attitude, you start with the community and you ask them what they want. I sure do wish that someone would find a way to provide that compassionate service to the homeless. Everyone who tries to help seems to try to change the homeless into themselves. I have never seen anyone before you asking what to you want? Isn't there any way to ask the homeless what they want and then do that?

Agree with your point about corridors. It can be easily blamed on the name of 'waste of space', but somehow, I like the sense of journey from point A to point B, that sequential feeling from the noisy outside to your own quiet living nest. If a corridor is done right like this building, then not only it is not a waste of space, but a value-added space, in my opinion.

I love when Andrew said the building is already aged and is getting better. It somehow reminded me of ‘the curious case of Benjamin button movie’. I hope you design and develop this kind of project across Australia. I love the concept, texture, simplicity and rawness.

So many fantastic learnings to be had. You alluded to the length negotiation with Council - I wonder: If you had one message for government (be it council or other levels) about how to better facilitate this sort of project, what would it be?

Very nice to see the building being lived in! I enjoyed the discussion of soundproofing just after I'd thought to myself, the way you barely hear Andrew shout through the closed door really illustrates how well it's soundproofed 😆.
Also, as a Dutch bike rider I really appreciate the organization of the bike parking downstairs, with simple stands at floor level and racks only higher up - and high enough so all bikes fit underneath. The way racks are usually stacked here, my handlebars often hit the upper racks when I slide my bike into a floor level rack. So annoying!

    Dear Kevin and Andrew,
I would appreciate it if you could share your thoughts on the current trend of AI being perceived as a threat to architects. I am aware that Andrew is not particularly fond of computational design within the field of architecture like parametric architecture,.... However, I would like to hear your constructive criticism on this topic. Looking forward to your valuable insights

Amazing! Thanks for that incredible lesson on architecture. A very well thought building with innumerable beautiful (and yet simple) details.
I learn heaps from every single video.
Considering architecture as a vessel for human life is the wisest reflection I can take from this one.

You are redefining the spaces of apartment living in more rational way but not comprising the quality of living. That is more appealing to me.
    Wonderful work, no doubt.

I've been so worried that the industry is going to be really serious boujie people, coming from the art department in the film industry which is basically just bunch of loveable delinquents (myself included) I've been queitly sh*tting myself that I wouldn't fit into the architecture world. You guys and your passion + tomfoolery has put my heart at ease.

Heritage doesn't mean that a site can never be developed or built out (12:02); it simply means that any development process will trigger heritage, and additional requirements will need to be met as per whatever the heritage legislation is. These requirements are not fixed in stone. With political pressure to densify and increase housing stock, due to insane real estate values and a full blown housing crisis, as well as the historic underfunding of heritage departments across the board, these sites will become ever more lucrative and less likely to withstand the pressures of development. Not to mention, Melbourne, surely being the home of façadism, suggests that at least the two adjoining buildings don't stand a chance in the long run. Anyway, the project is amazing and I would LOVE to live there, except for the fact that I can see my neighbours from my balcony, communal spaces great, but private... My home, if I could afford one, needs to be my own sanctuary away from other humans, where I can decompress. It's the last place where I would want to see or have to communicate with others 😅
