About the yarn, I used a wool blend called Estelle Bulky (150m/164 yards, 10-12 stitches on a 8-10mm needle). The ball band doesn't give the yarn weight in a way that I'm used to seeing. It doesn't say #5 or #6. Estelle Bulky appears heavier than Charisma #5, and lighter than Wool Ease Thick and Quick #6.
I had made a swatch of the scarf using Wool Ease Thick and Quick #6, and it was too dense and didn't have enough drape.
For people who can't find Estelle Bulky, I think Charisma or another #5 would be a good choice, but you'd have to create a small piece to really know. Also possible that there are lighter #6 yarns that would be appropriate. Comparison pic here instagram.com/p/CZc665LuZRI/?

Thank you. I agree it's between a 5 & 6. Maybe doubling the #5 would make it work because it just needs a little more. I don't order online plus I have a lot of yarn boxes thru the years. Thank you for replying. Great answer

The 2 charisma yarns#5 ended out to thick. I'm using a long loom kk which is 3/4 so I'm not sure what gauge you are using on the loom thanks

New to looming , regarding the right/left twist . Once you get to row 10 left twist.
      Do I go back to 4b 5b & 9b 10b
      OR
      just continue with
      11b 10b & 6b 5b
      Then right twist
      6b 5b & 11b 10b
      I'm all twisted .

Oooo, what a perfectly lovely scarf! Thanks so much for sharing your brilliant instructions, so helpful ❤️
I don't know if you take suggestions/requests on other designs to make but I'd really love to learn how to do fingerless mitts with a thumb in double-knit. I do a lot of double-knitting but haven't been able to find a pattern/tutorial on how to do those on a double rake loom. With your excellent teaching skills I think you would be able to explain it superbly well. Thanks so much for listening and I look forward to your next tutorial with great eagerness ❤️

I tried a premier serenity bulky #5. Too thin you definitely need a #6 even a small 6. Going to Frog and find a small #6. Thank you for your videos. Saw another pattern I want to do. ❤❤❤❤❤❤ not
A thick #6 as she stated above hometown, bernat are a no.

Update on 3/8 loom with #5 charisma. Update add use the same AMT of (14) pegs as she does and follow the pattern exactly. Works very good. Ends out like hers but only 4.5 inches across.

Beautiful scarf as always. Question: How would one make the scarf reversible? I think you ,mentioned it but could you elaborate on it? Would one mark the same pegs in row A as in row B and do the twists the same in row A as in row B? Thanks.

    • @hellomsyarn
      @hellomsyarn  2 роки тому +1

I haven't tried to make the braid on the "wrong" side, but if you were to do the twists at the same time as the "right" side, I predict that the yarn would be too tight to really stretch much. You would need to experiment, I think.

It's hard for me to reply whether it's chunky or not, since I'm not great at yarn definitions. But you can see my pinned comment about the yarn, it might help.

May I ask a question? I'm not sure when this video was made but I tried charisma bulky 5 and I think you are using a bulky 6 like hometown USA yarn. Bulky 5 years ago were bigger. Suggestion can you specify the bulky you are using for each projects. Thanks. Love your videos and especially your drawing which helps a lot for me. Thank you for your time

Can you add the twist to both sides if you did the same twist on both side A & B? Or would you need to do a right twist on the A side and a left Test on the B side?
    Thanks

Good question Catherine German. I also have a question along those lines. I tried to look up how many yards. Are in Estelle yarn. I can't find it. All yarns are different. So how many yards are in one of your balls of yarn.
Ohh yes I love this scarf. Another famous scarf.

    • @pattymullin8515

There isn't a problem with the pattern itself which is excellent, one of the best illustrated, demonstrated and explained I have ever seen on any channel. The issue might be with yarn tension, not pushing down the loops, pegs very short for the yarn size being used, or other problems?
