The Apple Watch claim is one of the most ridiculous. I have a Sony mirrorless camera with an expensive collection of lenses. This makes it more expensive to switch to Canon. Should camera companies be required to make sure all their lenses are compatible with each other ? You can easily think of countless examples of large companies making products that are only compatible with their own brand. Another claim from the DOJ is regarding the blue / green bubbles because that creates social stigma to influence brand loyalty. If you want to link social stigma to antitrust law you'll have to bring in almost everything that uses this including industries such as automotive, clothing, jewelry, watches, wine, cosmetics, social media, and even housing.

many people are arguing that Samsung is cross compatible with other brands like - Samsung galaxy watch is compatible with google pixel and the google pixel watch is compatible with Samsung galaxy phone. and hence apple watch should be too.
but what they don't realize is that Samsung watch and google pixel being connected is not called cross compatibility. Samsung watch and google pixel run the same operating system i.e. android. Hence they connect with each other.
Android for mobile and android for watch(wear OS) are meant to be compatible with each other. so its no surprise that both Samsung and google devices connect with each other

I began in the day when you setup or built a system you had to set jumpers. Today it’s plug and pray. I ran Windows and Apple computers and both Apple and Windows Servers. In a monopoly market, the seller faces no competition, as he is the sole seller of goods with no close substitute.” There are many substitutes for apple products especially the iPhone. I do think they have always had some monopolistic practices and continue to, although to your point Brian, I think the government doesn’t understand things based on what they are highlighting. The iMessage one definitely is the biggest issue. At the moment, if I text an Android user, the message is unencrypted because Apple chooses so far not to support RCS (even if they’ve said they would after immense pressure), and the experience of texting with Android users, particularly in group chats is terrible because Apple chooses to make it terrible. Also, Apple forces all 3rd party browsers to use Safari on the back end. I understand their reasoning, but it should be the consumer’s choice. Finally, until recently, when you got an iPhone, the default browser was always safari, and it was really problematic to change that. The default mail program was Apple’s etc. These are things that Microsoft deservedly got dinged for by the US government and had to change.

You have to actually copy the address and paste it into Google maps or Waze. It would be just as easy for Apple to let you choose your favorite map system but they don’t do it. And it seems like I’m harping on this maps thing but it’s what they do with just about everything. Apple is the one that came after Microsoft, Palm, Blackberry and others that made a perfect system that brought Star Trek to the year 2007 and just left every manufacturer scrambling. They set the bar extremely high that no one has caught up to yet. They made their OS friendly the store awesome when no one wanted to keep their products in the old retail stores for decades, so they did themselves created their own store market online. It was the best thing that ever happened to them. If no one can’t deal with what they have created and the security don’t buy an iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch or even a Mac of any sort. Brian, there is no fierce phone competition in the United States. Where is Oppo, Vivvo, Huawei, Xiaomi, ZTE, Honor, and more? You walk into any store that sells phones, and you get 2 main options. Apple and Samsung. I wouldn't call that fierce competition. Yes, there are other crappy phones in the back of the store. I truly believe Apple and Samsung lobbied D T and the rest of the GOP when they were in power to black ball Huawei. Huawei was about to release devices with AT&T and T-Mobile and D T government pressured them not to sell Huawei devices because of the security risk. Forget that Apple and Google have all our personal information from everyone we know to our pictures and bank info, and can pinpoint where we are at any moment, but our government was afraid of Chinese Huawei?🤨🤔

Yeah so I think You're missing the point of the smartwatch It wasn't to say that Android watches can't go over to Apple os and vice versa it was that third party watches for the apple platform Don't work as well not because the technology isn't there but because Apple software blocks them from doing certain things. Example I have a Samsung watch and I have a Motorola watch which works well with a Samsung phone a Google phone any android phone. Now maybe the apple watch is that much better but that's why they're going to court.

The US government should never dictate to companies how to use their technology or create technology for the consumers. I was unaware about a few factors that you brought out, namely lol the one concerning CarPlay. Wow that is absurd, really.
Anyhow, Brian… that was a great analysis and breakdown. I do believe this is going to be a long battle that will probably stretch up to 2030 but in the end I believe Apple will come out victorious because there’s a lot of factors that need to be considered here in relation to how technology is dictated by the government.

The lawsuit is idiotic. If they made the Windows Phone and Fire Phone fail then when are we suing Amazon for the damages they caused to other stores?
It's not hard to switch to Android, I did it, then switched back, now have a phone on each platform. Not to mention iOS and Android operate pretty dang similiarly so it's not a hard learning curve to switch. It's not like going from driving a car to learning how to ride a motorcycle. You can pick up and Android phone and figure it out pretty fast.
Messaging doesn't suck, there are tons of options you can use. Same goes for phones and watches, there are a ton of options to fit your needs. I ditched the Apple Watch, tried some other smart watches, then came back to Apple Watch when the Ultra came out.
The 15-30% cut on apps is the SAME policy as the Google Play Store.
We have all sorts of real issues plaguing everyday Americans and the fact that our government wastes their time on this is absurd.
