The US government needs to address other problems with Apple. Closed systems. Soldered SSDs and RAM. NANDs holding ways to lock out tech repairs. There are a lot of things that Apple has been doing that is underhanded.

If I bought something with my own money, I should be able to do whatever I WANT with it, not what they want, like replacing the battery if my phone dies too fast without BS messages
Apple does some dirty stuff.
New iPhones also have breakaway cables on the inside. So if you are a tech like me, we can't service those phones without going through a lot of trouble. The moment you open it every cable/wire breaks in half. They do this on purpose.
Another issue is with Macbook Pros. RAM and Hard Drives are soldered directly to the board which make it impossible to replace. Memory is a disposable component. After around a million write cycles it will die, and with new Macbooks this means either spending $800.00 on a new motherboard or buy a new Macbook. Basically be like buying a new car because the old one ran out of gas or the battery died.
Apple is one of the dirtiest players in the game. After Steve Jobs died it got so much worse! At least Steve Jobs understood right to repair and such. Tim Cook only cares about getting richer at any cost period.

I really love how I stopped Apple's products since 2018 for many of these reasons and all my friends were laughing at me, till then they are just now realizing my reasons why I left Apple for good is making sense now. Now my favorite line: "I told you so!"

Can we also have a lawsuit over replacing brand new items under warranty, with someone else’s refurbished item? This is illegal overseas.
I had a watch die after just 40 days from a known error and they replaced it with a refurbished one… I’m sorry, that’s not what I purchased. I could have saved a ton of money buying a refurbished one instead if that’s what I was buying.

Yeah I got a replacement phone and it only lasted like 3 months then the camera and flashlight all died.. had to pay another 100 to replace it.. this new one actually seems like a new one tho.
Legal because the US has crappy consumer protection laws.

Yeah, they rip people off. If there wasn't a lock-in to their ecosystem there would be real competition and options that would bring down their prices.
Imagine if their software features were available on other OSes and devices.
You could actually buy double the storage and double the ram for a windows machine for half the price Apple charges for ram and storage upgrades on a macbook

Yeah so is putting a price of nearly $4,000 on a bunch fabric that makes a Burberry trench coat. But we’re not throwing lawsuits at them. The response is to just shop at TJ Maxx or Marshall’s and shop in your price range. You buy what you can afford. There are a multitude of other computers and smart phones out there that can still do the tasks but what sets the designers from the general and making someone want something isn’t illegal. You still have options and you buy what you can afford simple as that. I want a Lamborghini and think the price is outrageous but I buy what I can afford like a mustang. And when it comes to technology, which is always evolving at an exponential rate because we want more features third party developers have the responsibility of keeping up with advances and if they can’t then that’s on them. If you want to be elite, then pick up your game whether in fashion, tech, or the auto industry it’s in every facet of commercialism.
How about they end the fentanyl crisis before worrying about what brand of phone everyone has. My neighbors and coworkers are literally dying in the streets
They need to stay home or have some extracurricular activities and not go out to buy drugs 🤷🏽♂️

I love how, in America, the government can "reinterpret" extremely old laws and file a performative lawsuit that they know they will lose since not that long ago, the company was declared not to be a monopoly.

yeah out of control with 20% of the market share with Google/Samsung taking mostly the rest. they able to ask for the price bc they provide a secure phone platform. many who care, like the GOV'Ts of MANY countries, need a secure phone and willingly pay for it.
I personally came from Samsung Galaxy to try something new and I had to sell my awesome Galaxy Watch 5 Pro to have a smartwatch work with my iPhone.

The United States needs to put their foot down on all cellphone and computer companies so that out devices don't become obsolete after a few years. We should be able to use our phones for as long as we care for them and they will stay on. I'm thinking 15 years at least. We should be able to pay for upgrades to our existing devices by changing out or adding more chips or technology instead of having to purchase a new device every few years. This is such a wasteful way of doing business. The materials that our devices are made of are damaging to the environment too acquire. Our society is too wasteful. All of our products should be made to last longer. And containers should be made to refill, not recycle. If we don't change our ways we are going to destroy our environment.

Remember how big desktop computers were? They had interchangeable parts.
What you want is a monopoly that doesn't innovate or invent. They go stagnant, the technology will remain the same forever, like landlines have never changed to anything other than what they have been 100 years ago.
Trump told businesses to make their products cheaper so they don't last and they can sell more.... And more taxes for the cities/ government....
I'm a Galaxy guy but I have an iPhone too (for work). It's crappy that so many iphone people don't know how to make a video call with someone with an android phone.
Apple is a great company, we should support to keep this incredible ecosystem. We need to remember that apple is the few of the companies that respect privacy, changing their ecosystem will have serious impacts on the security of the users.
This is long overdue. The way Apple degrades quality is unreal if it's a non-Apple device.

They're the ones MAKING the future happen. iPhone is the most advanced smartphone in the world so in comparison, the others are just not "caught up" yet in terms of technological advancements. You don't need to own an iPhone. But if you don't, you'll miss out on iPhone's debuting technology which is why everyone LOVES iPhone duh. No monopoly here. You can choose which phone to get

Apple was once sued for deliberately making older models slow so their users would be forced to buy a new one. This malpractice of the tech giant does not surprise anybody.
Samsung was also sued for the same thing. Turns out none of the companies were deliberately slowing down older devices to force costumers to buy new ones. All the companies, starting with Apple, started implementing throttling for older devices in order to improve the longevity of them. Throttling is something thats always been on Macs so it just became a surprise to iPhone users who dont use Macs. They didnt understand what this innovation was so they just sued Apple for it. Apple apologized because they didnt think people were that stupid that they were going to complain that their phone now lasts longer than it otherwise would have.

I'm not a fan of Apple at all. I see Apple phones as a status symbol that I do not need or even like. I've always thought people were insane for buying into the hype.

And even common things can be about status and not necessity or economics. And once you start putting your info into an iPhone, it's not so easy to just transfer all your data to another brand of phone, like Android based phones. That totally sucks.
@@xx_Joker_xxThere’s plenty of apps for transferring data from one platform to another. It can be just as difficult to go from android to iOS. There are only two smartphone platforms anyway. Most people don’t switch either. They buy what they want from the beginning. It being a status symbol to you has nothing to do with financial situation so idk why you brought that up. No one is looking at an iPhone user and thinking they’re important or rich. They’re just like Toyotas. Everyone has one just about, and if you want to involve cost, android flagships are the same price but less popular overall in the US generally.

I bring it up because it is about the mentality of a lot of people to have the brand name due to social pressures. It's a mental self image thing that people think they have to get all the higher priced brand names, even though there are other brands equally as good, in order to keep up with other people. I recall years ago where kids demanded iPhones and parents could not afford the high price just because that's what all their friends had. Adults are not much better. LOL!
And no, not just about everyone has an iPhone. Not in the U.S. anyway. LOL! Most of my family, all but one person in fact, and most everyone that I know, uses Android based phones. A huge reason for that is how many different manufacturers there are for Android based phones. Some are very, very cheap... some not. And Android phones are more flexible compared to iPhones from a developer stand point.
How many manufactures are there for iPhone? How many for Android? And why do you think that is? For most people that I know, that's an issue.

if u buy ANY windows or even build ur own laptop or pc, you can literally get 8gb of ram thats faster tham macbook ram for 40$ LOL. and all you have to do is push it into a slot, takes about 15 seconds to put it in. It's because macOS is the operating system it runs on. You forgot about that spec. People tend to forget to mention OS when they list the hardware specs. The reason why its necessary is because 8GB on Mac is the equivalent of 16Gb on windows

Upon purchase of apple phone im guessing there arent any mandatory apps or configurations though some mobil devices purchased could get apps uploaded before purchase apple uploading downloading smartphone apps destroys the types of compliances and updating through devices

I’m happy, tired of sending my pictures and videos from my Samsung and the people with IPhones can’t see them or the image looks like junk. But all other brand phones have no problem seeing them.
Way overdue I’m on an apple device and it’s great but the cost of this phone is ridiculous and the apple customer service is laughable and apple care plus is nothing more than a scam. If you get a replacement they hold the amount you paid for the whole phone even though my subscription is paying for them to replace it anyway

Apple is not a monopoly on anything. The reason why this is making news is only because of misinformation about technology. Apple created iPhone. They created the multi-touch display thats on iPhone. They created a multi-touch OS and they created the App Store so that developers can create multi-touch apps. Now that Android has infringed on every single patent that Apple has filed by copying Apple's technology, now all of a sudden everyone thinks Apple is a monopoly simply because they take a 30% fee from app developers. The apps on iPhone are the most advanced version of mobile phone apps. Android OS is a knock off of iPhone OS so the apps are of inferior quality, thus there is a smaller fee for developers. But people have forgotten that iPhone is the original and that Android is just the cheaper knock off. Now everyone is just thinking that iPhone is an inferior version of android that is more expensive simply because people are no longer informed on technology these days. Everyone forgot about Steve Jobs's inventions already. New era of people.
