I have a S400 and Its done 240k kilometers and still works great. I guess Its not all that go bad right? Else I would have thought that Mercedes would have done a recall? Is it possible to get a normal starter motor out on, in case the hybrid system goes bad, so you can still start it? But only has to work when the hybrid system doesn’t? I mean… like a switch you can enable? I live in Sweden. Can you recommend me someone that CAN fix these kind of things IF mine were to go bad at some point?

I don't trust any hybrids in this day and age besides the ones made by Toyota/Lexus. A simple electric motor in the rear differential, easy access and doesn't screw everything up if it fails. Same with the battery, easy access and easy replacement if ever needed.

My last Mercedes, a S550 bit the dust after 42,000 miles. A timing chain follower broke, timing chains destroyed themselves and engine was toast. Thankfully I had an extended warranty. They ended up cashing me out of the car at average retail. I’ve owned five over the course of 30 years, my first was a 300SD, last was this 550. The quality has gone downhill consistently. Sure, the panels fit, sure the interiors are nice. But what the hell good are those when the car is in the shop monthly, or roadside with catastrophic failures. My opinion, you could do 1000% better with other makes. Then there’s the depreciation, over 50% in two years. Suckers born every day., not myself any more.
