On "Goi, Rode, Goi" Arkona, the Pagan Metal mongers revolving around frontlady Masha Scream, give the legends and traditions of their Russian homeland new life and thus, forge steadfastly forth creating a captivating mix of metal and folk exceeding in a welcomed diversity. The characteristic signature sounds stemming from the mind of Masha run through the compositions in which folk melodies, delivered by authentic and at times medieval instruments, join the lively metal riffs, blastbeats, and double bass interludes. The songstress and concurrent band mastermind provides depth with varied vocal lines that include a wide spectrum of clean and black metal parts. The highlight of this latest work is undoubtedly the monumental "Na moey Zemle" on which an illustrious guest line-up (Heidevolk, Menhir, Månegarm, etc.) provide the track with a character all of its own, making it the core of "Goi, Rode, Goi". While this sweeping and majestic epic song stands out deservingly, it certainly does not take away from the remaining tracks' songwriting merits. As in the past, Kris Verwimp's masterful brush has visually ennobled this package. Arkona have exceeded their previous and much praised releases with "Goi, Rode, Goi" and proceed to finally take over the Pagan Metal throne.

when I first heard this band on spotify , I thought the growler was a separate male vocalist then I went on here and was blown away!! I have never heard such hardcore death growling from a female singer. And the fact that she can go back and forth effortlessly. this band kicks major ass.

I have just seen her in real life. Lol, she just casually stood there. It is true that she is small, but looking very brutal nevertheless, wearing a leather jacket like a real metalhead. When I saw her, I was really surprised because at first, I didn't even pay attention. But she was so humble at the same time it really amazed me.

Honestly, when I went to listen to them on UA-cam, I didn't like this as much. But seeing them in live Zagreb before Korpiklaani totally blew my mind. They're so awesome.

I've seen Arkona live twice, they are awesome! Masha is an incredible performer.

This entire album is probably their best, along with Vo Slavu Velikim. I like the full version of this song. This album came at an important time in my life and I still remember the days listening to this... I can't believe it's been 10 years.

I came across this band years ago after listening to Alestorm and glad I was able to re-find this band again. Still cam hear her voice in my head. Now definitely going to looking into this band more.

Russia and Ukraine has some of the best black and folk metal bands. I don't think many people know this :) Nokturnal Mortum, Arkona, Drudkh, Hate Forest, Kroda and Dub Buk are a few of my favourites. I love this stuff!
