Hempstead is not as bad as a lot of other places on LI but at night in the summer some crazy stuff can go down lol. Nassau County has been ranked one of the safest in the entire county but generally places like Hempstead or parts of Freeport are known as the "bad" areas. Also if you go into Suffolk County check out parts of Amityville, Wyandanch, and Huntington Station you can find some interesting areas over there.

Looks ok to me. Clean streets, well maintained homes, I didn't see any graffiti . I saw only one vacant house which had fire damage. Almost every storefront was open with a working business. It's not Garden City but it looks like a working class neighborhood no different than most of Queens. Hempstead does have a relatively high crime rate .
