This is a nice video, Hempstead was different back in the day, just watching this video bringing me back memories and flashbacks, im orginally from Harlem, but i lived here for a couple years when i was a kid, and the time that i spent living in Hempstead, it was wild, especially back then, back then everything was wild, i don't know how hempstead is now, i hear that is still violent in some places, but when i was living there, things was crazy, it was a whole different situration.

I just remember Terrace Avenue back in the 1990’s. There were crack cocaine dealers all over it. The white kids from other parts of Nassau County drive through buying drugs. I don’t know how it is now with kids doing heroin these day where crack was like a 1990’s Terrace thing

There's usually a dark cloud that sits over Terrace Terrace Ave that you can see before you hit the block.

I agree with this statement. As I drive down Fulton Ave, all is well until you hit Terrace. T.A. could be its own, dark, depressing dimension/reality. The whole street should be NUKED and rebuilt, that's the only way to clean it up.

Terrace Ave. Memories. I used to go to the Salvation Army day camp right on Atlantic Ave. literally facing down Terrace. Used to hang out in the apartments when I was kid. Went to the park(shown in the first minutes of the video) right behind the apartments. This was back in the 80's....Terrace was crappy then and not much has changed since.

It all looks pretty good when seen through the eyes someone that's unfamiliar with psychological hold it has on it's inhabitants. My residence predates the El Dorado apartments. I grew up surrounded by the better neighborhoods and stealing bikes from Garden city. In the Bronx or Brooklyn you were confronted with the obstacles you knew had to overcome but on Terrace life was a dream until it was too late.

When the District Court was built two blocks away, there were rumors that a tunnel had been built from the El Dorado to the holding cells of the court. I heard there was actually a holding cell in the El Dorado on Terrace Ave.

@Miranda Casanova that comparing who hood is harder stuff and who gets more bodies is corny first and foremost but I was raised out here, it was extremely ruthless especially in the 80s,90s -mid 2000s ,it's calmed down like 80% it's still gutter and had dudes from the most hood spots in the all 5 boroughs say this. There's 2 other rough hoods in the county besides this and they ranked top heavy in poverty, poor school and social ills for NY state. There's wannabe gangsters everywhere, I saw a lengthy yt video with a Brooklyn guy stressing Brooklyn gets a bad reputation and there's rich million dollar Brooklyn areas and suburbs nobody speaks of and this guy was in the hood in Brooklyn and saying the Bronx is ghetto and he know guys around his way that won't go there.
