I love how they Seth was talking about the meme but Bernie immediately uses the opportunity to give credit to the woman who made the mittens for him. Absolute class
Diference between narcissistic people like Trump and people like Bernie, the former wants all the credit for them and is all about them personally the later, loves to praise the people that helped them and is all about the people, not them personally.
A true gentleman, a moral man, an example.

You have again put a negative "spin"..."out of business now:...on Ms. Ellis' decision to stop knitting mittens herself, considering she is the mother of a young child as well as a school teacher who loves her profession. There have already been mentions of continuing the knitting other ways. And, even a mention about adding similar socks. "Out of business" is simply more inappropriate spin from you. You are either again writing as you chose to because you are uninformed and did not care about being accurate...or...you are again deliberately lying to take away well-deserved credit for rather fabulous good works for fine VT non-profits. Sen. Sanders also designated all profit (already reaching nearly $1.8 million) from t-shirts and sweatshirts featuring his inauguration meme to several VT charities, including Meals on Wheels. When Ms. Ellis told us her Mother had benefited from MOW services, it was yet another delightful connection to what is certainly among the best of this young year's "feel good" stories. No matter your negative spins.
@David Winehouse Stop it. It seems to me there are two options about your post. One is that you just have not been paying enough attention re "Bernie's mittens" and are simply uninformed about the wonderful project initiated by 2nd grade teacher, Jen Ellis, also the talented mitten maker. If that's the case, you still posted anyway . Two is that you are intentionally lying to cast shade for some reason. And, posted anyway. "High Taxes" have not been in any conversation I've heard or read about regarding the lovely gift by both Ms. Ellis and Sen. Sanders to outstanding non-profits in VT.
When talking politics, not once does he talk about himself, nor does he spend his time criticizing the other party. His focus is on the people, and helping out those who are suffering. That is exactly what a politician should do. A politician's job is to serve the communities that elected them. Not the other way around.
One caveat, if I may. Bernie isn't a 'politician'....he is a STATESMAN.
You are both so, so correct! He is an amazing human being who serves selflessly. I have a good feeling about people who recognize him for who he truly is and don’t get caught up in the many falsehoods that others use to label his career.

Undocumented people aren’t allowed to BUY health insurance, they are uninsured during the pandemic without an opportunity to buy coverage. Most of them already pay taxes and contribute for many years without being recognized, they should not be demonized.

@@patriciastewart2537 I implore you to have more compassion for these people. Addiction is a truly horrifying mental illness, for the addicts and for their loved ones. Most people would welcome treatment and rehabilitation if it was given as an option. Many jurisdictions have adopted policies where a convicted drug user can choose rehabilitation or prison, and most do choose rehab. If we show them compassion, they *will* become contributing members of society.
The same goes for undocumented immigrants. In most ways they *are* already contributing members of society, and it is true most pay taxes, but don't receive any of the benefits their taxes pay for. Have more compassion for them as well, they serve in America's workforce for peanuts without any real American benefits.

I wasn't entirely sure what made that a meme and I was genuinely concerned people were laughing at him for some reason I didn't understand. The civilized countries can scarcely believe that not only does the U.S. not have universal health care but also that so many of its citizens have been brainwashed into thinking that social benefits are some kind of devilish plot to control their lives. Why aren't more Americans aware that people in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and most of Europe are much happier because they have a social safety net and that they aren't burdened by ruinous taxes?
It's crazy to me that one of the richest Country in the World, has the highest rate of deaths. We must impeach Chump, he can't become President again!! Once has cost us enough lives, with no regret on his part....

Exactly, I don’t understand, they rather paid $600 a month per family and 10k or 20k deductible. Than an increase on their taxes that would probably be $100 a month increase. I just don’t understand 🤷🏻♀️
A lot of my family members live in rural areas and most of them are republicans. One of the main reasons behind them still being republicans (in spite most of them hating trump) is that a lot of them make too much money to qualify for medicare, but not enough to pay the inflated costs of health insurance for people who live further away from hospitals. People who live in rural places are cheated where healthcare is concerned, and a lot of them actually blame obama for not doing enough with the ACA, and they think that democrats are too passive to actually follow through with implementing universal health care, and honestly I can't entirely disagree with that. So instead of supporting democrats, a lot of them were willing to follow along with republicans in the vain hope that trump's initial promise to make a healthcare plan better than obama's actually paid off.

Bernie has always been ahead of his time. He has never been worried about what opinion is popular; he leads with his gut, his heart and his intelligence. Great interview, Seth.
I agree so much! You can tell most politicians cater their views to party and corporate interests and garner votes by attacking the other candidate and selling yourself as the "lesser evil".
Bernie doesn't care, he has ideals of how people deserve and should be treated and how the economy and the government should work FOR the people, not the other way around. He knows saying that burns bridges with people at the top, but he doesn't care, he's there to defend his ideals and that's what he has been doing since before I was born.
As far as I'm concerned, Bernie is actually just putting reason before emotions, and that's what makes him great. All his policies are things that should be a given, because they make logical sense and follow the facts. He's also the cleanest politician in the business - no major scandals, no power plays, no wealthy backers, nothing but clean, proven solutions.
Let's just be happy that men of high honor like Mighty Joe and Bernie are in control now

I do believe Bernie would prefer keep on LOVING as words describing what he hopes for us to engage in. His work is also best described as SERVICE rather than servitude. As a Swede born and raised here in Sweden I have a enormous trust in socialdemocratic politics and I find comfort in hearing Bernie. Him being american with his age and still his enlightenment gives me hope.

@Dahn Correct. I live in the middle of EU and I vote parties around the center. Sometimes I've voted conservative because of economy and lately I've voted slightly left because of human rights and digitalisation of government but when I've tried to fill some forms to learn how would I vote in the USA (pure curiosity) it has placed me just a touch right from the percieved Stalinism.
Czechia, my home, has some decent gun laws. I can purchase a pistol or collect long rifles if I want but it takes some training, paperwork and investment. I've never needed a gun to feel safe.
My health insurance covers most of my needs unless I need a plastic surgery or really pretty dental replacements. My girlfriend has just told me that good glases cost also something extra.
I can hypothetically undertake a civil version of marriage with a same sex person if I feel like it.
I've studied at university but I'm not indebted for life because of that( I am indebted for life because I've purchased a house :-) )
If I lose my job I might need to sell my house but I won't probably be hungry unless I gamble my wellfare away.
I can disagree with politicians and I won't face repercussions. People might not like me but that's on a personal level.
We have far right and far left parties and both are financed from Russia to some degree. Their voters have a lot in common.
Our politicians are sometimes corrupt and often incompetent, lying bastards. We still live rather well.
Europe has its fare share of problems but those in USA shine brighter and burn deeper.

It's pretty telling that someone who votes centrist in Czechia would be considered similar to a communist in the USA. What a radicalized place that country is.
Because it's not what we're currently doing, so doing so would mean progressing.
Because many americans are scared of common sense, and sees it as "dangerous socialism/communism". That's the reason why the health care system in USA is so unfair and bad.
Common sense is health care should be free for everyone, it should be (probably is) a human right. No one should be left to die because they don't have insurance or money for operations/ medicine.
But as soon as someone as much as mentions an increase in taxes, people freaks out and calls this person a communist/ evil socialist. Come on man.
