I love how many frames of animation Samus has, from hanging off the edge, to Speed Boosting, to being able to charge and fire in multiple directions...seems endless. The programmers go all out in making her as mobile and able as possible, even way back in the first game, but especially here. Makes the game seem that much more realistic, and that there was honest effort and LOVE in its development. It's great.
Yea this game is great. i know this and zero mission get a bad rep by so called hardcore metroid players. i admit its very linear and repetitive (go here kill boss then go back to the terminal to find out what area you need to do next, rinse and repeat) but i still find this game really awesome.
I suffered so much with yakuza. Just couldn't kill it's second form without dying. That was before I remembered about expansions. Also fighting neo Ridley with the wave beam is the best option, since a charged shot passes through him, damaging him 2-3 times in one shot
I was a little disappointed when I first got this game way back when. But as I played it, I became hooked, and proudly beat it. I remember finally facing off against the SA-X. It was an epic fight. We were tearing it down trying to kill each other.
Yeah, the first fight against SA-X is definitely the coolest. You don't really know what to expect at that point and the adrenaline kinda gets a hold of you.

And Fusion is actually then one I like most, then Super Metroid... I never was so hooked on a game since years, specially the story!!! I was extremely surprised when I found out there were masterpieces like this in a console like the GBA.
One of the reasons that the boss battles in this game are so fantastic is how the bosses clearly show how much damage they are taking. Sometimes they just change colors, and sometimes the actual sprites change, with my favorite examples being the security droid and Nightmare.
Sir, nothing freaks the shit out more than *SA-X!* >:D -Yeah. The first time that Nightmare crippled me. One of the things I love about this game Is how disgusting many monsters look like back In Game Boy Metroid games xD
what's so unnerving about it is that after you first go to sector 5 he's there in the background, and you know eventually you're going to have to fight that thing. And after you follow the trail of destruction you don't know when you will run into the Nightmare and then when you do it comes up from the ground slowly and its faceplate falls off which makes it look even scarier.
I always theoized the reason you never encounter the 10 Sa-x hunting you was because the Omega Metroid was hunting them at the same time. I think it also explains why it could grow so quickly.
The real reason being the GBA's tech limitations prevented encountering multiple SA-Xs. As for the omega, it didn't get out until late in the game and by then the SA-X had reproduced. The metroid grew so quickly due to genetic tampering from the researchers.

This may be overthinking, and could be just a gameplay stuff due to lack of gameboy buttons, but if you put this in a narrative sence, super missiles in super Metroid obliterate many things in few shots, there are few ammo, but in this game super missile are your default projectile once you get them, and even though bosses withstand a lot of these, so that could mean, X-parasite are so fucking durable, so much more than their original counterparts.
You can actually prevent the left flower in Nettori from hitting you by standing at the very right edge of the platform. You end up outside of its detection box, so it just never fires and you can just spam missiles without needing to dodge (for the first phase).
***** Woah really? All I did was to Wave Beam then jump right before the SA-X jump [either vertically or diagonally], charge It again and wait her to stand right In front of me ;]

It's pattern depends on movement but generally goes like this: Starts by sweeping (Easily countered by charge beam), then starts to go up up sweep (Countered by a simple diagonal shot), and then low sweep repeat.
Little tip for neo ridley, the charge beam does WAY more damage than the missiles, you have my deep respect for only using missiles and winning though.
Huh. Now that I think about it, the Core-X you get for defeating Zazabi is the only one in the game that gives you two abilities at once: the Hi-Jump & Jumpball (a.k.a., Spring Ball). I know that in both Metroid 2 & Super Metroid, they were separate upgrades. And in Metroid 2, you had to fight Arachnus (after freeing it from the Artifactor Statue) to acquire the Spring Ball.
+Cecil Richardson in a few 2d games hi jump and jump were the same upgrade as well, since you get upgrades directly from bosses in fusion i think they just wanted to have one jumping boss in fusion so they gave the combined jumps in one skill
Brandon Withnell I'm aware that in Metroid 2: Return Of Samus, the High Jump Boots and Spring Ball were two separate upgrades, with essentially the same thing in mind. The High Jump Boots more than doubled Samus' maximum jump height, while the Spring Ball allowed Samus to be able to jump while in Morph Ball form.
I never thought about 'trapping' the beam bosses under platforms and FUCKING them with the missiles! Thanks for the tip My next Fusion playthrough will be awesome! ;)
I remember the very first time I fought the SA-X at full power, shit was definitely going down in that room. I was so tense and nervous fighting it that I kept yelling just to keep myself from feeling anxious lmao.
When I was 7.. I remember having this game.. After I lost it for my gameboy.. I felt so pissed because I never gotten to beat SA-X. Then I got it as an emulator on my phone.. It seems so easy compared to back then. Hah brings my my memories.
That's an idea, but I'm currently going with the theory of "Instinctual creature sees much bigger threat and another threat that is effectively crippled, decides to try to take out the bigger threat first."
Not really. The SA-X knew it had the weaponry to kill Metroids. Ever since it attacks Samus for the first time, it freezes her with the Ice Beam and then shoots a Super Missile (the method for killing Metroids) because it knows that she's part Metroid and knows how to kill them. At the end, seeing Samus very weakened, the SA-X just has to kill the Omega Metroid and find means for escaping, leaving Samus to die in the station or killing her too. However, since a Metroid in advanced stages cannot be frozen but only hurt by the Ice Beam, the SA-X kept firing at it expecting it to freeze. It let its guard down and was badly injured by the powerful Metroid. Since there was nothing else left to do, the X just stayed there because there was nowhere to run, giving a nice for opportunity for Samus to absorb it and regain her abilities.
Wrong, the one that “helped samus” was one of the other SA X that samus didn’t kill, the SA X was just attacking the Omega Metroid without even noticing samus, if you look at the one that was killed during the Metroid lab take down, it forgot about samus and just went for the metroids. In conclusion, it wasn’t trying to help samus. That would be a mindless Super Metroid reference shoehorned in.
i actually didnt play any metroid game but what is that final boss ... how is it a final boss? is it hard ? i didnt see any attack beside that claw attack ... by the way i enjoyed the vid ur awesome .. i think XD
+medo blitz It's mostly a plot-wrap boss if anything, and a bit of an unusual final boss regarding Metroid games really (they tend to have a larger build-up). The real hyped up boss in this game for me is SA-X, as the thing essentially stalks the ship the entire game and you can't do anything about it at first but run... That claw attack is the only attack it got and the boss itself isn't hard (if I remember correctly it can do a triple claw attack though, but that's if it reaches the leftmost of the screen I think). The boss is kind of there as an aftermath of a Metroid outbreak.
+medo blitz if you know what your doing the boss isnt hard, but take note that theres a time limit going on as well, if his claw attack hits you not only do you take massive damage but it stuns you for a few seconds as well costing you some time, the claw attack may look easy to dodge but its much harder than it looks and requires good timing to predict when you should run away
I killed that fucking pest Yakuza, then out of nowhere SA-X decides to come out at the worst timing. All that rage built just turned into fear the second I hear the music suddenly changed.
You know what bothers me? The fact that there was 10 SA-X’s on the ship by the time you were almost done with the game. There were only two things worse than that, and those were that Metroids eat X Parasites, but Samus was forced to kill all of the Metroids before she knew that they were the main predators of the X, and the fact that the station you are on throughout the entire game was making Metroids that we’re able to evolve into Omega Metroids.
Does anyone who played this see the easter egg of when you're escaping to the bottom floor after beating Arachdnis, you can morphball into a room with ice, that damages you, but inside, the Neo-Ridley is in there, frozen.
Y'all talking about nightmare being hard while ignoring the B.O.X security bot. The first time you meet him his one and only attack is very problematic because he always fires in a trajectory that hits you in the center, and there is no way to know where he fires. And he is so hard to hit that if you dont constantly get missile tanks or have pixel perfect shots you are bound to run out of them on this fight. And the second one is so hard because the touch damage is just OUTRAGEOUS. And since he now has electric damage on the floor he makes a quick buck on that too. Even his attack is homing missiles, you know, something to knock you out of the air! And then i realised: "oh it's a beam boss" when the core x grew an eye. These x are supposed to be their own boss. In fact this boss was the only one i died to the core x on. Nightmare isn't hard, you are just too impatient to kill him and try to tank all his hits.
uhhhhh this takes me back man bac k to the summer i had this game and gameboy advanve i spent the whole summer playing it i was litle at the time and taught that you get her old suit at the end and keep it but i dont care every boss was a pain in the ass to figure out but that was just the charm that pushed me forward

i remember on yakuza i got to the part where his legs come off and i thought the fight was over and i stood in one spot and i died.
Fucking Yakuza he took so much time to go down :D
Little tip for neo ridley, the charge beam does WAY more damage than the missiles, you have my deep respect for only using missiles and winning though.
Man, I love this game. But the final boss was boring.

*HA HA HA HA*
HP McDoogle haha
Thanks for the tip
My next Fusion playthrough will be awesome! ;)
I remember the very first time I fought the SA-X at full power, shit was definitely going down in that room. I was so tense and nervous fighting it that I kept yelling just to keep myself from feeling anxious lmao.
Best time for a metroid fan. Very good games on gba and prime on gamecube.
Arachnus' sprite model reminds me of *Anguirus*' sprite model
When I was 7.. I remember having this game.. After I lost it for my gameboy.. I felt so pissed because I never gotten to beat SA-X. Then I got it as an emulator on my phone.. It seems so easy compared to back then. Hah brings my my memories.
Pretty sure the reason the SA-X at the end helped you because after beating it in battle, it realized you were stronger than it.
That's an idea, but I'm currently going with the theory of "Instinctual creature sees much bigger threat and another threat that is effectively crippled, decides to try to take out the bigger threat first."
no the x sees the giant metroid, its obvious enemy and tries to destroy it, while samus is only a small part metroid.
Or she only wanted to kill the metroid because is her natural foe
i actually didnt play any metroid game but what is that final boss ... how is it a final boss? is it hard ? i didnt see any attack beside that claw attack ... by the way i enjoyed the vid ur awesome .. i think XD
It OP if it hits you it does way more dmg than any boss In the game so if it had moves that you have to dodge might make him super insanely OP
OMG lol hahahaha ^^
+medo blitz It's mostly a plot-wrap boss if anything, and a bit of an unusual final boss regarding Metroid games really (they tend to have a larger build-up). The real hyped up boss in this game for me is SA-X, as the thing essentially stalks the ship the entire game and you can't do anything about it at first but run... That claw attack is the only attack it got and the boss itself isn't hard (if I remember correctly it can do a triple claw attack though, but that's if it reaches the leftmost of the screen I think). The boss is kind of there as an aftermath of a Metroid outbreak.
+medo blitz if you know what your doing the boss isnt hard, but take note that theres a time limit going on as well, if his claw attack hits you not only do you take massive damage but it stuns you for a few seconds as well costing you some time, the claw attack may look easy to dodge but its much harder than it looks and requires good timing to predict when you should run away
thx guys ur awesome too ^_^
Sometimes i wonder if Ridley was still in control even with the X Parasite infecting him
I killed that fucking pest Yakuza, then out of nowhere SA-X decides to come out at the worst timing. All that rage built just turned into fear the second I hear the music suddenly changed.
Cody Boutdy those footsteps. . . Them feels. . .
There are so many bosses in this game.
How the hell do you escape from Yakuza's grip?!!!!!
Wiggle back and forth until it lets go
I tried that once and it didn't do crap
Do It faster
Mash
That damn spider and that box robot.
man those basterds took me days to beat
that box security scared the shit outta me when I was little
is so satisfatying when u kill Serris, he starts screaming
that rocket joke was pretty funny
they should make a metroid fusion game where you play as sax. thatd be dope
and sax is replaced with all suits and abilities samus. i would fuking love dat
that feeling when u r triumphant against the bosses in this game
Damn Ridley, those screams! It seriously scared the shit out of me the first time I fought him. Talk about ear rape
the superpower ridley has is obviously annoying as hell ultra scream wave
+Beverly Westburg not only it will kill Samuel, it can give the player a heart attack.
Samus***
m3gAm37aLmAnX at first it was ear rape. Then it becomes music to your ears! Lol
I died at omega Metroid by not collecting the SAX upgrade thinking it would kill me like the computer told me before.
Does anyone who played this see the easter egg of when you're escaping to the bottom floor after beating Arachdnis, you can morphball into a room with ice, that damages you, but inside, the Neo-Ridley is in there, frozen.
at least I wasn't the only one who found neo Ridley terrifying when I beat this game at the age of 7
Y'all talking about nightmare being hard while ignoring the B.O.X security bot.
16:12 sounds a remix is about to start!
uhhhhh this takes me back man bac k to the summer i had this game and gameboy advanve i spent the whole summer playing it i was litle at the time and taught that you get her old suit at the end and keep it but i dont care every boss was a pain in the ass to figure out but that was just the charm that pushed me forward
Ugh you make Nigmare look so EASY! That boss is HARD
Classic game.
They are my ish.
Nightmare really does live up to it's name, it was a nightmare to fight and took me twice to beat him.
Seris was my favorite boss. You thought you found him in the tank but it was only a skeleton of another creature.
Actually, that was the skeleton of Serris. The X parasite killed it and took its form.
I love the music for the Serris boss fight.
I loved Serris. I would save right outside its area just so I could play against it later.
4:49 I do not understand how samus can hang with the cannon without fingers!!
