Solo Hiking Adventure across the Lofoten Islands in Norway 🇳🇴

  • Far north above the Arctic circle are located the scenic Lofoten Islands. With their deep fjords and steep jagged peaks the Norwegian islands provide countless picture-postcard views, and naturally I was curious to experience all that. And I found out that there was a route called The Long Crossing of Lofoten which connects multiple trails into a single route and aims to go through the most iconic places on the islands. This film documents my experience attempting to hike the 160km route.
    Sit back, relax and enjoy this journey into nature!

    Good on you for turning back while you still had fun 😌 and that you've taken that rest day after the night at the cabin, that looked so nasty. love the video, your shots are amazing as always. Honestly it's so good it could do without the drone. I'm often conflicted when it comes to using them since it's very loud and disruptive to wildlife and I'm glad many national parks are starting to ban them but often I can't deny that they elevate a video. You put up the camera so well, I didn't even miss it though. Love your narration as well :) I'm excited to see where you take us next!

      @luboyanev  Рік тому

      Thank you for your thoughtful comment! Yes, I was definitely surprised with the conditions on that trip. Having a van or a campervan while being there would have helped to make the experience more enjoyable :) And yes, no drone flying in the national parks, but I agree when used sparingly drone shots can add another dimension to the visuals. Thanks again for the comment and happy hiking!

      Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed watching it! And yes, well spotted - I did shoot in Slog3 picture profile, however on this hike I didn't use ND filters and just closed down the aperture and tried to keep the shutter speed below 1/100. I had used ND filters in the past but the ones I had were pretty bad (VNDs from K&F concept) and they added too much color shift to the image, that I decided not to use them... what has been your experience with NDs so far? And cheers to Chris @gratefulhike :)

    • @VadrouillesAttentives
      @VadrouillesAttentives Рік тому

      @@luboyanev I am not super experienced with ND filters, but I've recently learnt that variable ND filters are actually not ND filters but made of two polarising filters, hence the color shift.

    • @luboyanev

      @@VadrouillesAttentives Yes, single stop ND might be better for less color shift, or potentially using more expensive VNDs :)

    A wonderful video and trip. I've been thinking of hiking in Lofoten, and this makes me definitely want to do it. I was wondering, though, what food do you use for cold soaking? @luboyanev  10 днів тому +1

      Thank you, I'm glad it was inspiring! Well, regarding cooking, I am not very picky, so I can usually eat similar things most of the days, I would usually have oats with nuts, dried fruits, sugar, protein powder; then for snacks I would have a variety of bars, nuts and raisins, cranberries; and then for dinners it would usually be either couscous or noodles with TVP, peanuts, coconut flakes, and some kind of sause can add a lot to the taste. Best of luck on your future hiking trips!

      Hey, Yes I think that's true. Very nice video! I went to Lofoten last summer, and had a quite similar experience as you - the rainy and stormy weather made me decide to cut the trail short. Also, it was more technical than I expected, and my knees was struggling to keep up. I have also seen you video on GR20. How would you say the two trails compare? :) 🗻

    • @luboyanev
      @luboyanev  Рік тому +1

      Thank you! Yes actually most of the people I met that were dong the same route, due to weather had also made changes to their trip, cutting it shorter or skipping sections. And comparing it to the GR20, I had perfect weather for the entire trip on Corsica (maybe I was lucky, as I have seen other people experiencing tons of rain). I would say the trail on GR20 was also pretty rugged and rocky, but at least it wasn't wet and boggy. On Corsica I also had some problems with my knees because most of the days I was covering two stages in one day and from all the hard surface my knees were starting to hurt towards the end of the day. But overall I had more pleasant experience on Corsica, and great views there too... Happy hiking

      Благодаря за коментара, мислил съм да правя видео където обяснявам какво използвам, даже имам заснето такова видео, но не съм го обработвал.. Сега в свободното време работя върху едно видео от друг поход, може би до един месец ще го кача :) Весело лято!

    Is the cabin in 7:20 Munkebu?

      Hey, no these were not the Munkenbu cabins, I passed by them earlier that day and they were open, but I think one has to make reservations in advance. The cabins are 7:20 were locked and are next to the Krokvatnet lake (67°55'51.7"N 12°58'23.6"E

    Great video but I’m really disappointed, you didn’t show a Bulgarian flag at any point. 😢

      As Reinhard Messner famously said when asked why he didn’t wave the Italian flag on an 8000 meter peak- “ I did it for myself, not for Italy” I don’t really see the point of all the wave flagging anywhere, aren’t we all just humans after all?

      Thank you for the comment, and I understand what you mean, but so far I have never carried a flag with me on any of the hikes. Maybe if I went on an extreme expedition where no one has ever been there before it might be more appropriate, but these hikes that I have been on are quite popular and I wouldn't think would be necessary.. But to each their own.. Happy hiking!

      Наистина уникално място е, заслужава си да се посети, но може би с каравана би било по ползотворно :)
