As a curious fact, Stephen Sondheim rewrote the message he leaves at the end of the film and offered to record it himself, in case they were unable to contact the actor; Lin Manuel Miranda would not be able to reject a rewrite of that great man. May he have peace in his rest. The first time I saw this movie, I was shocked by everything and even cried when I heard "why" it brought back so many things to my memory that I just couldn't help it. I think this is a movie that represents very well what it is to follow a dream. It is never easy, and sadly you will not always be able to observe it fulfilled, but it is always worth working for it. I would like to mention the songs, but this comment has already been very long hahahaha
@@CathlynRoseMcKellar it was a really powerful moment, and after why, just hit harder. I'm actually curious on your opinion about "louder than words" I hear different versions of that song and always thought that when they say "What does it take to wake Up a generation" it needed a Harper kick like more strenght at "to wake Up a generation" and this is the first time that I actually feel that energy. I'm sure you'll have a more technical perspective.
Yay!!! You finally reacted to this!!! This movie was such a beautiful emotional rollercoaster ride and it’s such an amazing and beautiful movie. Andrew literally became Johnathan Larson when your watching this film. I loved this movie and it’s my favorite movie of 2021!
This film was an absolute showstopper! I hope it gets the recognition it deserves cause it was done brilliantly! It also has become my favourite of 2021!
Girl, I clicked on this seconds after I stopped crying (again) at a Sondheim tribute, you and the algorithm are responsible for my current dehydration 🥺😭
I saw this after hearing the news about Stephen passing away and the mix of that and how much I look up to Johnathan and his work. I needed to see this movie for everything it is. Andrew Garfield portrayed everything I know about Johnathan so well. The moment that broke me is hearing Stephens voice at the end of the film because watching it that night was like a perfect storm. I got to see someone I look up to so much on stage and also someone Johnathan himself looked up to so much be portrayed as well. Also both why and louder than words and everything at the end just broke me to actual tears in maybe the best way
These tears were definitely in the best way! The film has unknowingly become a tribute to not only one but two great composers and seeing their interactions and knowing they've been reunited hits home!
@@CathlynRoseMcKellar yeah it hits home for me too realizing that him and Johnathan are actually probably creating something together right now with so many other amazing artists
As for the huge cameo drops during “Sunday,” the intention was to also have Chip Zein and Joanna Gleason from Into The Woods as the workers in the kitchen, but they had to pass on it due to COVID lockdowns. That would have been so cool.
Great reaction vid! I was utterly FLOORED by Bradley's Sondheim, I was so convinced it was Stephen himself! I hated the scene with Rosa so, so much, I really felt personally attacked by it, but, reluctantly, as Lin says it's a film about failure :( . I'm worried now that Lin- Manuel Miranda did TOO good a job on this film though and we'll no longer see him performing anywhere but more behind the scenes with writing and directing :( . Speaking of which, went to see Encanto after work tonight, great songs you could react to?
It was so good and more! I wish they didn't shorten "Real Life" but I'm guessing it's because it sounds too much like "One Song Glory". Jonathan is such an inspiration, just like Sondheim was to him. Glad you liked it as well. 😊 How about a "Come to Your Senses" cover? 😉 Hehe. 😅
Thank you! The movie was amazing! So glad Jonathan Larson’s work will be more known. If you haven’t seen it, this has the references and Easter eggs. ua-cam.com/video/MBxF24s4WrA/v-deo.html
I curiously watched Tick, Tick, Boom as breather after a day of being so stressed and underappreciated. But damn, I felt it to the core!!! Especially the part of Stephen Sondheim's voicemail "First Rate work and has a Future.. And so do you... Meanwhile, be proud.." I still cry whenever I hear that line.. 😢🥺
I did notice that! It was just perfect having Bernadette in there in a more modern day dress of Dot! I think I've cried enough to last the rest of the year thanks to this week! lol!
I like to think Sondheim is with his surrogate father and teacher Oscar Hammerstein hanging out with Bernstein, Larson, Arlen, Harburg and Arthur Lauren's.

Very well said Mauricio!! and hearing Stephen's voice at the end definitely broke me a bit more after hearing 'Why'!

I thought that no 2021 movie musical adaptation would beat in the Heights. I was wrong.

I lost in when the originals were the bums.
